  1. Looks like this one is split right down the middle. This could be one of the most anticipated/best first round district games in a long long time! And it's not even from a random draw!
  2. I was in attendance for the first game between the 2 @ GRC. That was an amazing game and hopefully the Indians will be able to look to that to draw some confidence for this game. I think Clark Co. is a pretty heavy favorite (and my pick to win the region), but there is a ray of hope for the Indians.
  3. Good win for the Indians. From the report I got sounded like a pretty ugly game. Sounds like the Indians did as little as possible to still win. This new district sure will make for some interesting tournaments over the next few years.
  4. How about 2002: Lost @ Bourbon by 18, then Beat them by 3 @ the fieldhouse. If that tourny was held anywhere else, they would not have won it.
  5. Correct. That night was one of the most exciting nights of my life. Montgomery beat Harrison in a team tiebreaker for the team title. I think we had the best chance ever to sweep all 18 points that year, but our doubles teams both lost hearbreakers (Our #2 team in 3 sets to Henson/Withers) and we only ended up with 10 points, and barely escaped with the title.
  6. Here is a list of all the teams Mason had played @ in the regular season and then played in the fieldhouse in the Region. 1998: Tourny: Beat Bourbon 64-58 Lost to Brossart 68-73 Season Lost @ Bourbon 89-77 Lost @ Brossart 58-40 99: Tourny Beat Bracken 71-55 Season Lost @ Bracken 52-50 2000 Tourny Lost to Brossart (Finals) 52-50 Season Lost @ Brossart 76-64 2001 Tourny Beat GRC 83-62 Lost to Campbell 79-52 Season Won @ GRC 57-53 Lost @ Campbell 61-56 2002 Beat Brossart 89-77 Beat Bourbon 79-76 Beat Montgomery 63-59 Season Won @ Brossart 71-57 Lost @ Bourbon 64-46 Won @ Montgomery 65-55 2003 Beat GRC (Finals) 78-51 Season Won @ GRC 68-66 04 and 05 None 3 times they lost an away game to a team in the regular season then beat them at home in the playoffs, 4 more times the score was shifted more in their favor, and only 3 times was the score shifted in favor of the other team, never changing the outcome of the game (Campbell's big win in the finals, along with a 14 point win down the a 12 point win, and a 10 point win down to a 4 point win .) They have gone from a 2 point win to a 27 point win, a 4 point win to a 21 point win, an 18 point loss to a 2 point loss, an 18 point loss to a 5 point loss against the same opponents from their regular season away game to the region at home. Can you honostly look at these numbers and say there is absolutely no home court advantage for Mason Co. in the playoffs. I can't.
  7. Scott Co. @ Henry Clay No doubt about it. Just like sweet16 said, last year people may have seen this as a state championship game (before the region swap)
  8. Harrison has a decent player in Simon Brazinski, and I believe their #2 player from last year is back as well. They will probably be a top 4 team in the region, but I don't see them having much of a chance at winning. They won't be any kind of a factor at the state leval.
  9. If you think this is bad, how about the fact that Kevin Durant from Maryland is on the West?
  10. That's a very good list. I agree that Knowles could be worked in, and I would also consider adding Hamilton from Ballard
  11. Coach Conyers is exceptional, and I know Ashton Thornberry will be competitive, but this will probably be a rebuilding year for the team. I'm looking at probably 1 Junior, 4-5 Sophomores, and 2 6th graders.
  12. I don't know, but I really doubt it. I don't mean to be disrespectful, but the 14th must be incredibly weak. I know last year we were regional runners-up in a weak region, and we beat Estill pretty handily.
  13. Joby can kill the ball. He also has a pretty big forehand as well. His problem is his lack of consistency. He last I saw he hadn't found the balance of hitting out on the ball while being able to keep it in play for a number of shots. Bath Co. isn't in the 10th region, but yes, Mike should be a senior this year. Their other top player Grant Davis graduated this past year.
  14. Montgomery County played tough tonight, they will be a dangerous team in district, and region. By the way the officating was terrible tonight
  15. Sounds like a great game. I think both teams have legit chances to make noise in march.
  16. I'm pretty sure the home team can get a technical if something is thrown on the court. I'm also pretty sure that artificial noismakers are not allowed to be used during play, but I'm not sure about what the penalty is.
  17. 10th region returns defending singles champion Richard Canelas of Highlands who could turn into a top 10 player in the state. Highlands lost their #2 Player Marty Arnzen the region runner-up, their #1 Doubles team who were semifinalists and half of their number 2 doubles team. Montgomery Co. returns Ashton Thornberry-a singles runner-up, and Jake Vollmer, and has a couple promising 6th graders. who could be competitive in the relatively weak region. They lost their regional champion doubles team as well as 2 Brazilian foreign exchange students. Bourbon returns regional singles semifinalist Joby Glass, and his younger brother Jett who was part of the regional doubles finalists. They also return Clinton Colliver who has developed into a solid player who, if he can figure out how to be a better competitor. Top players Canelas Jo. Glass Thornberry Simon Brazinski (Harrison Co.) As far as teams: My guess is it will be Highlands and Bourbon battling it out, with Harrison a wild card, followed by Montgomery. This looks like another weak year in the 10th region. (Possibly weaker than usual)
  18. Cards are my pick to win the region. I truly believe Knowles is the best player in the region. (I thought the same thing last year, but that didn't go over well with many people).
  19. From the little I've seen this year we seem to play to our opponents leval. Not 100% sure but I heard Montgomery was winning after 3 quarters.
  20. Preston would definitely be in my next 5. I think he could push anyone except for the top 2 or 3 players. I'm sure playing with Kyle these last several years has to have helped him quite a bit.
