Sorry Red Heat but I disagree. Mitchell is too important to this team to risk additional injury playing offense. He had to make that saving tackle tonight to stop a TD on the punt return and that was scary. His college future depends on his tremendous leg. IMO we should keep it this way.

Are there any SK fans out there to give us the info on this game? SK offense and defense obviously had a great nite! Important district win for the Pioneers!

4A Championship: Ryle vs. Trinity
In honor of Sandman32, I'll say it. Remember Dixie Heights just a few years ago? They might not have won the title...but neither did the Rocks. I'll give the nod to Trinity, but any given time and place you never know. The Rocks can concentrate on stopping Vince Murray but Scotty Gray is there too and their passing game can expose a run defense. It should be a good game IMO. Best of luck to both teams! :ylsuper:

Does anyone know what colleges are giving Vince Murray a look? He's amazing!

Ryle 24 Dixie 12
Come on! "Beating up" the opponents qb is not something to gloat about. Ryle has a great team and deserved to win! They are all around solid and congrats to them. Continued success on your road to the championship! Considering how I think Raider fans felt after your qb was out earlier in the season and after that tough loss last year for the district championship, I think a little less smack and a little more compassion would be in order. There are alot of classy Ryle posters here. Follow their lead please. Dixie players can be proud they gave it their all but came up short against alot of adversity. Ryle won a heartfelt game without all of their weapons also. Best of luck to both Ryle and Campbell County. Represent Northern Kentucky with pride and class as you continue your march to the 4A title! Dixie fans will be rooting for you to bring it home to No. Ky.! :thumb:

Boone 14 Dixie 10
As a Dixie fan, this was one aggravating game. They had so many chances to put this one away early, but gave it away. Our d played great, only 2 mental laspes which resulted in 14 points. It was IMO the questionable decisions and lack of accuracy on our qb's part that was the difference. Joey has had numerous starts as our play caller in 1 + seasons to be making the mistakes of missing wide open receivers, not throwing the ball away under pressure (taking sacks), floating his passes and throwing too many jump balls since we have smaller receivers. I know he's young, and will only learn from his mistakes but he's been at the helm long enough. 3 ints (I believe, plus one fumble) within the opponent's 30 yd line = loss in any game. Dixie held Boone in check for most of the game, but lost IMO to Bricking's lack of confidence, or mechanics, and as has happened in most Dixie/Boone games, we fell for the trick plays that Coach Thompson always throws at us. Congrats to Boone on a big district win, and best of luck in the rest of the regular season. I'm not trying to demean Bricking in anyway. His completion percentage speaks for that. Coach Spritzky usually finds a way to right the ship at this time of the year, but I don't feel encouraged offensively with the exception of our running game. Dixie has 3 tough games left against Holmes, Campbell Co. and Ryle. I will always bleed red for my Colonels, but I feel the rest of the season will be too close to call. Again congrats to Boone. Farris is unbelievable. Hopefully we'll see you down the road in the playoffs.

It was a scout, since the EKU coaches are in Birmingham AL for tomorrow's game vs. Samford. Anyway, EKU does look at SK intently every year since they have had such success with recuiting Matt Schoborg. I don't believe his injury scare will deter them. I just hope they took notice of Tommy Gibson while they were there.

Boone County 34 Ryle 22
ICN6, who broadcast the game live, said that Farris carried 41 times for 130 someodd yards. Considering he had 60-70 yards on the game clinching drive, the Raiders must have held him in check for most of the game. Hard to do! Ryle D did their job on long drives.

Congrats to both teams on a classic high school shootout! And to Tommy Gibson for his clutch td reception! We sure miss you at Dixie! I look forward to watching the replay. This game is what high school football is all about! Both teams left it all out on the field. You hate to see any team lose.

 Not the kind of sportsmanship this website is about. :irked: What a great all out effort by both teams considering the circumstances. Coach M did what he felt was right, showing confidence in his offense, and more importantly, he let his players know that he had that confidence in them! It just didn't turn out the way he figured. Both teams are to be commended for an outstanding high school GAME! I knew the Dixie kids would console Tommy Gibson. They understand why he had to leave them. He is a great kid with a big future in front of him as a Pioneer.

Saw ya on the sidelines tonight but with the enormous digs Dixie has now, it seems to have lost a little of its fan closeness. I kind of felt disconnected from the other Dixie fans since we are spread out much more now. I couldn't get to you do get my hug! Glad to hear you have a new job even though I heard it's costing your replacement many vacation hours to try to replace you, (which is not possible). No. Ky. high school football fans need to hear from you! You are the authority!

Dixie 35 Scott 0
You summed it up completely. Next week's game vs. SK will be a battle. Dixie has alot of work still to do with personnel changes, but Spritzky seems to get it figured out eventually. 4A will be interesting!

Your sideline turf report from Ryle was a horticultural masterpiece! I do admire the way you can juggle two jobs at once. No. Ky. high school football is lucky to have you! :ylsuper:

Ryle 17 Dunbar 3
District play hasn't begun yet. What do you base your decision on? Other 4A teams have played a tougher non-district schedule than Ryle, others have had a little bit easier one. It's wide open right now. Everyone is 0-0. Ryle has played good so far, but you can't compare that to the other 4A teams until they meet each other. Every team is fighting through injuries and personnel changes right now. The No. Ky. 4A picture will begin to clear up itself after next week's games.

NKY BGP Fan Poll - Week Three
I was sitting in the Dixie section, of course, and looking across field to the CCH side, we commented to each other about the lack of attendence in the stands on the CCH side past the press box. It was half empty. It seemed to me that the Dixie side was filled in a little more than the CCH side. We were packed in like sardines around midfield! We were wondering where the CCH faithful were. We had other team's coaches scouting on Dixie's side who commented on CCH's lack of attendance to us at halftime. Both teams could have had a better showing! CCH had better attendance of students, but Dixie had better attendance of "adults". Sad showing on both teams considering it was the Battle of Dixie Highway. No matter what the pre-game hype was (Dixie stinks so far in most people's mind), these kids deserved a packed house. Granted, alot of people stood, but it wasn't an impressive showing on either team's part.

Lloyd 33 Scott 24
No, but writing off No. Ky. 4A after 2 weeks of basically scrimmage games doesn't mean in 6-7 weeks things won't improve. Maybe this is a "down" year for 4A up here. Who is to say that come playoff time someone like CCH or Highlands won't lose early in the playoffs after going 8-1 or so, does that make them bad? How do you determine who is "bad"? Seems to me that is decided during the playoffs, against other "enrollment equivalent" teams in your classsification. Since Lloyd was handily defeated by SK last week, and if they should make to the 2A final and win, are they "Bad' for losing to a 4A school since No. Ky. 4A schools are considered bad? Would it demean their championship? No! It's only the second week, and many schools are dealing with issues. For Dixie, they are just now getting to practice on a lined field, at home. Most teams have had that luxury since the spring. No one ever expects No. Ky. 4A teams to compete with the Louisville teams come playoff time, and I'm confident they won't this year either. Dixie's "upset" over Trinity a few years ago was considered a fluke. Trinity wasn't a "bad" team were they, since Dixie had lost a few games before then? All I'm saying is that No. Ky. football is exciting no matter what class you are in and to demean teams by calling them bad after 1-2 games is a bit premature. Let's just enjoy our Friday Night Lights! It's great that No. Ky. football has such a talent pool to play against for non-district games.

Lloyd 33 Scott 24
Losing your best player to another school and having a second year rebuilding coach makes it tough for Scott to be a contender this season. I'll bet you don't see too many bad 4A No. Ky. district games this year. Districts are looking competitive. It just might be bad based on the fact that it will be hard once again to compete down state. It's still Friday night football and nothing else compares!

Beechwood 35 Dixie Heights 9
I agree. All I was stating was it was too early for 92Bird to claim SK as the early favorite for the 4A title based on non-district games. Campbell Co. is obviously in the mix. They have 2 impressive victories so far! Back to the Beechwood/Dixie game, that Bankemper kid is a workhorse and their running game has not missed a beat because of graduation. I was very impressed with his ability to spin off tackles. You can't arm tackle him! Dixie has a problem in that department. #4's mechanics are impeckable for a jr.

Whats up with 4A Football in NKy....
Of course not! You are mentioning 3 schools that have won state football championships numerous times vs. schools that may have more enrollment, but that doesn't mean they should have more football talent because more boys are enrolled in that school! Just because Dixie's or Scott's enrollment numbers are higher shouldn't mean greater success in football. Not all boys dream of being the next Carson Palmer. Higher enrollment could mean greater success in band, or basketball, or track, or the Academic Bowl vs. Highlands, CCH or Beechwood's squads instead of football. It all depends on the caliper of the students and the feeder, or pre-season, program they are able to impliment. 3 of the schools you mentioned are known for being able to attract higher football talent because of their past successes. No school should be embarrassed by the caliper of talent they put on a football field. It's just a game! People forget that! High school students need to be able to feel proud for representing their school, no matter how successful they are. It's their right as a high school STUDENT to compete for their school and they shouldn't be criticized for it if they don't win vs. a school with higher enrollment. Just my opinion.

Highlands 42 Conner 0
According to the broadcast crew, Conner's qb was hit from behind while attempting a pass. He was carted off on a stretcher and believed to have a severe concussion, but was moving his limbs somewhat. Our prayers are with him! Conner fans, please let us know what you hear!
