Whats up with 4A Football in NKy....

3A Ft. Thomas destroys both Dixie and Conner

3A CovCath kills Boone County

1A Holy Cross beats both Scott and Holmes

1A Beechwood knocks off Dixie big time

So does really having a large enrollment of boys at a school make for a better football team?

To answer the numbers question, it can't hurt.

3A is and will always be better than 4A in Northern Kentucky.

If you really look at the numbers...no matter how much tradition a school has (i.e. Beechwood) I feel 1A's should not be beating 4A schools like this. I think they should feel silly getting beat up on like that. JMO.

AAAA football in Northern kentucky just isn't very good.

Your exactly right, but All you need is eleven players, and if you have great coach that can motivate you as the underdog,I can see schools with alot of tradition beating a most 4A schools!

Exactly!

At this point Simon could be the favorite but I am interested to see Ryle at full strength.

Sandman --hope none of the boys who play 4A football read your post -- that ought to make them feel real good after all the hard work and effort they put in each and every day. Is that the best comment you could come up with?

First of all, welcome to BGP!

As far as Sandman's comments go, I agree with him 100%. Just what do you think the problem is with NKY 4A this year?

I didn't know it was my job to make every AAAA player in Northern Kentucky feel good about themselves.

And, actually it wasn't the best comment I could have come up with, but it was the quickest way to get to the point of the matter.

Exactly!

Ryle really pushed the Pioneers around last year and they have two huge backs returning, provided Murray is or gets healthy. But, Simon does have a ton of weapons on offense.

Key to this game is how good is Ryle on the defensive side of the ball, and how far does SK come in the next few weeks heading into that game.

Of course not! You are mentioning 3 schools that have won state football championships numerous times vs. schools that may have more enrollment, but that doesn't mean they should have more football talent because more boys are enrolled in that school! Just because Dixie's or Scott's enrollment numbers are higher shouldn't mean greater success in football. Not all boys dream of being the next Carson Palmer. Higher enrollment could mean greater success in band, or basketball, or track, or the Academic Bowl vs. Highlands, CCH or Beechwood's squads instead of football. It all depends on the caliper of the students and the feeder, or pre-season, program they are able to impliment. 3 of the schools you mentioned are known for being able to attract higher football talent because of their past successes. No school should be embarrassed by the caliper of talent they put on a football field. It's just a game! People forget that! High school students need to be able to feel proud for representing their school, no matter how successful they are. It's their right as a high school STUDENT to compete for their school and they shouldn't be criticized for it if they don't win vs. a school with higher enrollment. Just my opinion.

That's what I'm saying G, Ryle at full strength is the definite favorite IMO.

4A is even more wide open than people originally thought. Are there any definites for the 4 spots? Ryle and SK - maybe? Its a tossup right now between BC, Dixie, Conner, Campbell(too early to judge them due to the teams they've played) and Holmes.

I am not willing to go that far yet, what I am saying is I want to see them at full strength before I offer an opinion. I will say when I saw Ryle scrimmage I thought they looked a couple of steps further along than they have in past years.

Also, I guess we have to throw Campbell in the mix now and the Lebanon game will tell us a lot about the Camels.
