In all seriousness, that looks pretty awesome. Thanks for sharing.

It certainly wouldn't have garnered much interest in the basketball forum.

Basketball Research--Names
Unfortunately I can't help you out with the names, but I was at this game. I believe Aiken played Oak Hill Academy, who featured Kevin Lyde (Temple) & Jules Camara (Kentucky). I believe Antwan Scott (Wake Forest) was on that team, too, and maybe Steve Blake (Maryland). I think there was another kid that went to XU, but I can't think of his name. Lloyd, maybe?

Do AAU player relationships compromise HS game competitiveness?
I just realized this thread was in the girls' basketball forum. As it applies to girls, yes, it may make a difference. As a guy, I can tell you that I never had any problem getting after my buddies. No chance I'm taking it easy, and no chance I'm letting them beat my squad. It very well may be different for many girls.

I don't know, I never had any problems beating up on some friends. Sometimes you want to beat the friends more.

Better Call Saul
Just finished the first episode and really liked it. Looking forward to this series, but I need a refresher for Breaking Bad. It's been a while since I've seen it and I'm struggling with some of the references.

- Eddie Eviston to Covington Catholic?
Covington Catholic High School is pleased to announce that Eddie Eviston has accepted the position of Head Football Coach. “My family and I are extremely excited about this opportunity to be the next head coach at Covington Catholic High School,” says Mr. Eviston. “It is no secret that great things are happening there and we are looking forward to being a part of it. I want to thank Mr. Rowe, Mr. Guidugli, and everyone else who has been involved in this process for their commitment and belief in me to lead this tradition-rich football program. I also need to thank Georgetown College and Coach Cronin for all they have done for me and my family over the last 2 years. We cannot wait to get to work on this next chapter in our lives and continue the tradition of excellence that is Covington Catholic and CovCath football!” Mr. Eviston comes to Covington Catholic from Georgetown College in Georgetown, Kentucky, where he has been the offensive coordinator since January, 2013. Under his leadership, Georgetown averaged 506 all-purpose yards per game for the last two seasons and finished the 2014 season ranked 9th nationally in scoring offense. Prior to coaching at the collegiate level, Mr. Eviston was the head coach at Newport Central Catholic High School from 2010-2013. During his tenure as the head coach at NCC, Mr. Eviston compiled a record of 35-8 and led the Thoroughbreds to the KHSAA class 2A state championship in 2010 and 2012. Prior to being the head coach, Mr. Eviston was an assistant coach at NCC from 2006-2010. Mr. Eviston was a standout student-athlete at Newport Central Catholic, earning 2nd team All-State honors in 1996 and winning the prestigious “That’s My Boy” award from the National Football Foundation in 1997. As a player at Georgetown College, Mr. Eviston was a two year team captain, 3-time NAIA National Player of the Year, a 3-Time All-American, and was a member of the 2000 and 2001 national championship teams. He compiled a 41-1 record as a starting quarterback at Georgetown, and was also a National Football Foundation and College Football Hall of Fame Scholar-Athlete Award Finalist. Eddie, his wife, Selina, and their three children will relocate to Northern Kentucky in the coming months. Covington Catholic Athletic Director Mike Guidugli says of the hire, “Eddie is a very impressive young man who has achieved success at every level in football, as a player and as a coach. We are confident that his enthusiasm along with his leadership skills will inspire our student-athletes to reach their full potential both on and off the field. We are very pleased to have him join the CCH coaching staff, and look forward with excitement about the future of the CCH football program.” Coach Eviston will be available for a press conference at Covington Catholic High School (Multi-purpose room) at 3:30 pm on Tuesday, February 10th, and will be introduced at halftime of the home varsity basketball game Tuesday evening (7:30 pm game). Covington Catholic High School is a Blue Ribbon of Excellence award winning college preparatory high school located in Park Hills, Kentucky. It is an all-male school of 570 whose mission is to embrace the Gospel message of Jesus Christ in order to educate students spiritually, academically, physically and socially.- Eddie Eviston to Covington Catholic?

- D'Angelo Russell is the best high school player from KY since.....
Saying Russell is better than Rondo is not discounting Rondo, but saying that Russell has "proven to be better in college in the short time he has been there" seems, to me, to overlook what Rondo accomplished as a frosh in Lexington. That was my point, and that is why I pointed out that Rondo set the single-season steals record as a frosh in Lexington. For what it's worth, Rondo was probably the best PG in his high school class in the country. He transferred to Oak Hill, where he earned all types of praise. Coach Smith called him the best PG at Oak Hill since Rod Strickland, and I believe Rondo set several records at Oak Hill Academy, too. FWIW, Russell has been incredible thus far and is one of my favorite players to watch.- D'Angelo Russell is the best high school player from KY since.....
Judging from your posts in this thread, my guess is you never saw Rondo play in HS either. As a freshman at UK, Rondo easily set the single season steals record with 87. Wayne Turner was the previous best, with 79 -- in 6 more games. Russell has been a stud, but don't discount how good Rondo was in HS, college or the pros...- Holmes 68 Highlands 57
I need a pen & paper to track Kevin's coaching gigs, but I know Mike went 2-0 against Kevin in the '04 season when Mike was still at CCH & Kevin was at Boone. Kevin left for Colerain (I think), the next season. I believe this is the first season Mike has been a head coach while Kevin is back in NKY, so I believe this is their first season coaching against each other (as head coaches) since the 2004 season. Could be wrong, though.- Holmes 68 Highlands 57
I'm fairly confident Mike & Kevin Listerman are the only father-son combo to coach against each other in the 9th region. What about the rest of the state? For what it's worth, I believe Mike is undefeated against Kevin. Pretty cool opportunity, however bittersweet it may be, for a family that loves basketball.- Is CovCath on the verge of the Greatest 9th Region Dynasty Ever?
