Cometely agree. He can play both guard spots equally as effective, he's smooth, and he is really good at the lost art known as defense...

I don't remember Rondo being as good as Russell when Rondo was in high school. Russell is already a better shooter than Rondo. By the end of this month Russe will have started and played in the McDonald's All American game. He's currently got. 16 points in the 3rd quarter of the Dick's Sporting Goods National Tournament final game which will be back to back titles for Montverde and he started on both of those teams. He's in the Nike Hoops Summit next week. Jordan Brand game the week after that.

Rondo is a top 5-6 player at his position in the NBA. I have a very hard time seeing Russell get to that point from what I've seen of him (McDonald's game, online, etc.). That's not a knock on him either, but saying the kid is better than Rondo when he's never even played a collegiate game is a bit of a stretch IMO.

Had to look up Rondo's high school career. He had a helluva career at Oak Hill. He led his team like Russell to an undefeated season his only year there. Great McDonald's game and played in the Jordan Classic.

Rondo in high school was phenomenal. I haven't ever seen Russell, so I'm not sure how he compares, but if he is close to Rondo he is amazing.

Looking at what both have accomplished in high school I'd say they are very close. Considering that Russell is a combo guard makes a little bit of difference and difficult to compare. Based on how I was asking the question I'd say they are equally heralded coming out of high school and Russell is the best player in the state since Rondo at the very least.

 

Russell is ranked 13th overall and the #1 SG in the nation. I'm not sure how Rondo ranked when he was a senior.
