Rondo was the #2 PG coming out of High School behind Sebastian Telfair . Rondo was as accomplished if not more accomplished than Russell in HS. Now Russell has to live up to what Rondo did after HS to be put in his category.

For the record I hope he does I love seeing KY kids succeed .

Yep. Pitino essentially ignored him since he was chasing Telfair. Then Telfair bailed on Pitino and it was too late to go after Rondo, nor should Rondo have listened to him.

 

The once-extremely-vocal anti-Pitino crowd among UofL fans absolutely love that story.

Yea Pitino made a mistake not going after both. I think if Pitino offers Rondo early enough Rondo comes to U of L regardless of Telfairs decision .

Got to believe Pitino never thought Rondo would fit his style because he never could shoot in high school, couldn't shoot in college, and is a marginal shooter in the pros. When you are fundamentally not sound as a shooter and too hard-headed to change, you won't be a comfortable fit with a lot of coaches. Not to mention the locker room baggage He carried.

 

Given all that, Russell might not be up to Rondo's floor game; but I will guarantee you,Thad Motta is going to enjoy coaching him more than Tubby did Rondo!

Have you seen him? I saw Rondo's high school accomplishments. Russell's are better IMO. They play two different positions. Rondo is a better passer than Russell but for a 2 guard Russell's passing skills are above average. Russell scores teh ball better than Rondo did IMO and Russell is a better shooter.

 

Coming out of high school I think Russell is a hair better than Rondo was coming out of high school.

I witnessed Rajon going off for 37 vs my Neers in the 5/3rd at LexCath and he actually killed it from the line. If he's as good as Rondo then I can't wait to see him play.

He is that good. He was the best player on the best team in the nation. I can only imagine the damage he would have done had he stayed at Central.
