Russell is the national POY at this point for my money. Ohio State would be pretty bad without him...

 

I'm not saying your wrong, but I just don't see any way that Russell would win it. It's Oakafor's to lose and I think it would take him playing poorly for several games to give it away.

Rondo wasn't a POY candidate as a freshman. Russell is.

 

Like I said Russell is my POY right now. So I'm not going to say anything bad about him. Part of Rondo's problem in college was the system he played in didn't allow him to use all his skill set.

 

Right now I say Russell has a shot to pass Rondo and it wouldn't surprise me. But I still have to see him in the NBA.

 

They were both Elite HS players. Russell is right now accomplishing more as an individual than Rondo in college. He still has a way to go to catch Rondo's NBA career.

I am sure Russell will make a very good pro. I just don't understand why he didn't choose to play at Louisville. Ohio State didn't give him much support which he should have been able to see in advance. Like many players in the pros, will the situation allow him to show how excellent he really is. And furthermore, will his greatness make his team better. The quality of a player is finalized in how many wins he can lead his team to.
