I won't defend Highands, because I honestly don't know the circumstances. I think the thing what made the Cov. Cath cancellations so uhhhh.... interesting.... (if that is the right word) was that they cancelled with Highlands, then played (I believe Beechwood), and then cancelled with Highlands. It was almost like they didn't want to play Highlands or something. This is all from memory, so please correct me if I am wrong. Contrary to others elevated opinion of Scott County, I dont' get the sense in Ft. Thomas that anyone fears Scott County. Ft. Thomasites don't have much fear of teams that are afraid to play us in varsity football. :banana:

Agreed. My only point was to say it wouldn't make sense that it was intentional, because that would not have benefited WJ.

Typically a bad playing surface benefits the less skilled team. You guys can judge which team that was or wasn't. Of course when you lose whatever playing surface you played on was the wrong one.

Certainly mean't no offense to St. Henry and would love to see them get past the next round, which will be tough, and enjoy a good run. Just having a little fun with our resident Colonel faithful.

Discussion of the crazies riding an opponent, said opponent reacting, etc. is all entertaining; however, when I read a Cov. Cath soccer thread I have expectations that it will contain certain elements. Things like the aforementioned what is the "should have been" score question. But also things like did Cov. Cath play their JV team, who dominated possession, and the legitimacy of the goals scored against the Colonels? Can we at least have someone please address the points for what was the biggest game of the year and that are core to every discussion of a Cov. Cath. soccer game? :jump: Also I think we should start the who is #1 preseason in NKY thread. Anyone have any thoughts as to who should start out the year #1. I certainly do.

After watching that game, in that atmosphere, that is your gripe? Honestly if he did a bad job I couldn't tell you. I really didn't listen to him or notice him - and that is a good thing.

This is probably a dumb question, but is Baker projected as a RB or are there other options for him? With the big prize still on the board I would think Baker would have waited to see what happened with Harris (not to mention UK's stable of young RB's).

From the games I have seen Ryle has the best team in NKY. As far as, "the not much need to throw it", while it is true there is not much need to throw it if your intent is to win frosh games (Ryle is good enough to never throw a pass and beat everyone in NKY), it is not true if you want to have any measure of success at the varsity level. Developing a QB and a passing game has to start early.

I think Meg is better than "decent". Meg is a very good keeper and one of the best in NKY. She is outsanding stopping balls that require her to lay out for to either side. She does have very good defenders in Ruthie and Ansley, but that does not diminish what Meg does between the pipes.

They seem to matter to some more than others.

Both are excellent players and athletes.

Hansel is a senior. Meg Martin at NCC is a Sophomore. Shannon Eaton at HHS is a Sophomore and Olivia McQueery at HHS (they share the job) is a Frosh. Without looking it up I don't know definitively what grade Schroers at Campbell County is in, but I would guess she is a Junior.

There was a point where getting into CUSL was a bigger deal. CUSL kept OE out for years, but I think with Buckeye expanding and every league fighting for teams, I would be surprised if CUSL has any requirements really.

Are you really going to argue the call was poor when you didn't even know what the call was? If the ref believed that the NCC kid went down way too easy in an attempt to get the call (flopping if you will) and handled the ball on the ground - the call might have beeen correct. Hard to know for sure since we have a "sidelineview". Now we can argue until the cows come home if the kid was fouled or flopped, but I believe that is what was called.

Who took the kicks for Beechwood?

Unlike KY where it only takes a little more a pulse to make it to the 3rd round.
