With the fall wrapping up, here are the teams in a good position to be Champs of their divisions:

Boys:

U8 -- 3rd Division -- NKSA Surf

U9 -- 2nd Division -- KH Central Red 1

U9 -- 6th Division -- KH Select Rogers

U10 -- 2nd Division -- NKSA Gunners

U10 -- 3rd Division -- KH Central Red 2

Girls:

U8 -- 2nd Division -- KH Central Red 1

U9 -- 5th Division -- KH Central Red 3

U10 -- 4th Division -- KH Select Lightening

U10 -- 8th Division -- KH Select Wolff

U11 -- 1st Division -- KH Central Red 1

U11 -- 2nd Division -- KH Select Woeste

U11 -- 3rd Division -- KH Select Gessner

U12 -- 1st Division -- KH Running Thunder

U13 -- 2nd Division -- NKSA Schutt

U13 -- 3rd Division -- KH Red Hot's

U13 -- 4th Division -- NKSA Bailey

U13 -- 5th Division -- NKSA Bluejays

U14 -- 1st Division -- KH Select Mossinger

U14 -- 4th Division -- KH Select Schumacher

I'm sure there could be others that aren't in 1st and could jump up over the next two weeks, but thought this would provide a solid snapshot. A few 1st and a few 2nd division leaders, great to see our youngsters representing the area well with only about 10% of the market's population.

The u9 KH boys team should get the opportunity to move up to D1 this spring.

Also, most of the girls on the u11 KH girls D2 select team were expected to be on this year's academy team.

My son plays for the NKSA Gunners. They have solid little team. Great coaches and great Trainer Pat from Thomas More. The boys are having a good season so far. We will get to see where we are at the end of this month in our last tournament for the season. We match up against the Javanon Soccer club out of Louisville. I heard they are good so it will be a good test for our boys to see how far they have progressed. Good luck to the Gunners.

Good luck to your son and his team the rest of the way. Good coaches and good trainers are really important at that level, and I know the head of NKSA is very happy with how that team has been managed. It seems like the changes at Kings over the last few years has given NKSA an opportunity to catch up a little, especially at the younger levels. I think it is healthy for NKY to have two strong programs, keeps both of them honest (so to speak).

Welcome to the site Z89, nice to have you and I hope you get even more involved in the months and years to come. Would love to see your input across all of our forums and topics as well!

Take care.

Now we need someone to donate some land to create a soccer complex so these 2 clubs can host some tournaments on this side of the river.

My boys have played both. I liked NKSA, however, at about the age of U13 I felt like they needed to offer more training. I like the fact that the boys are getting training 4 nights/week w/ Kings Academy. 2 of those nights they are training with and against Ohio's U13 State Cup winners.

Here are a couple of others.

U14 DI --NKSA Blue Jays (who should be in Buckeye Elite 2 in terms of talent)

U14 DII- NKSA Roeding - they are down 3 pts w/ a game in hand.

On its way....I think.

Where? I know KH is looking at a small complex out by the airport. They need something as the fields at T&C suck.

About 6 years ago, Boone County was looking at that Valley Orchards (name??) along the river. That involved BCYSA and NKSA. I haven't heard anything since on that one.

Another club to look for in the future is NKY Legends. As long as they don't try to grow too fast, they have the ability to grow a solid organization based on their philosophies. They'll eventually start pulling from KH and NKSA.

I thought there was going to be a huge complex along 71/75 on the opposite side from Tewes Poultry Farm. I saw a rendering somewhere and it had a ton of soccer fields of all sizes. At one point I knew who was developing it, but now I don't recall if it was the Silverlake folks or Bill Butler...or someone else.

In order to be able to join CUSL they have to have "X" amount of teams, so they either have to wait until then to play good competition or be sponsored by another club (like Ohio Elite sponsors Lakota Football Club now to get them into CUSL). I think there is a Legends team playing in the Star Invitational in U10 in their 3rd / lowest division, so I'll try and verify that and / or monitor how they do. I know they have one gentleman involved who has had his son in both Kings as well as NKSA, and continues to be displeased by where they place his son after May tryouts...but I'm sure the issue is the evaluators at BOTH clubs have it wrong.

That's news to me. That land has sat for years without much movement until recently.

I'm thinking you need 10 teams in order to join CUSL. I could be wrong, but I know it's a decent size number. Legends are a ways away from joining as it's going to take them time to build up their program to that point. Their philosophy is built around individual player development. Once their teams are full of proficient ball handlers, then they work on spacing, positioning, and passing. It's going to take them longer to do that now as their u10 teams are a mixture of new and old players. Once these younger teams stick together, you'll start seeing results as far as wins go. My daughter played there during their 1st year of their u9 academy. We really liked the organization. The only reason we switched was numbers. We weren't sure if they would have enough girls to form a team that next year as we struggled to field a team that one year. I wouldn't be surprised if we made the switch back next year, but that's a decision we'll make after the spring season.

I've only been involved with NKSA and i've been happy so far. The question i have is with all of the club organizations how do the big ones evaluate and form teams year after year? My crazy idea of select/club is you have a tryout and rate the players from best to worst and form your teams every season with out the coaches being involved in the process At least not involved with their own age group so politics stay out of it. I noticed with NKSA some of the age groups had too much input from the current coaches on the teams being formed. I know you would like to keep a group together so they gel but if you keep the same players you won't improve as much as adding better skilled players that come along. Maybe my line of thought is way off. Could someone with more experience let me know how it works.

Thanks
