I agree with Beechwood, that is a much better placement. But how do you justify Campbell over Ryle, after Ryle just beat Campbell in Alexandria?

Cooper beat Ryle first game of season...His logic is this. Campbell beat Cooper and Cooper beat Ryle so they are both ranked over Ryle. Cooper should be locked in at #7 and most people would not argue.

Great question. It gets convoluted. I agree with you that I should of had Ryle

higher than Campbell but then I would have to (the homer in me) to put Cooper ahead of them

both then.

Its tough because I'm a firm

believer that beating a team head to head should count for

a lot and Cooper beat Ryle and

CC beat Cooper and Ryle beat Campbell so it's a conundrum.

I knew i could figure out Hellbird!!

1. Highlands ... I give Dixie as much chance as anyone at beating Highlands but there is no way you can rank anyone else #1.

2. Dixie Heights ... they are #2 just as strongly as Highlands is #1.

3. Simon Kenton ... I love my Tigers, but I can't rank them higher than SK.

4. Beechwood ... Let's see how Beechwood plays versus New Cath in two weeks and then I will consider putting them ahead of SK.

5. Ryle ... I really think CCH is better but Ryle beat them so they get #5.

6. Covington Catholic ... yes, I agree on this also.

7. Campbell County ... see my note on Ryle and CCH. Ditto here - I think Cooper is better but Campbell Co. got the win.

8. Cooper ... ok, I know Cooper beat Ryle but that was a long time ago and things have changed. The S. Oldham loss hurts their cause also.

9. Newport Catholic ... I think there is a pretty big gap between those top 8 and the ones below it.

10. Scott ... this is right.

In other words, I think the coaches were pretty much on target with their top 10.

The next five are a different story. Here is how I roll on them:

11. Boone County

12. Walton Verona

13. Conner

14. Newport

15. Lloyd

Cooper beat Ryle and it was at the beginning of the season when both teams were their healthiest. Sorry Cooper in front of Ryle.

It sure looks like Ryle is one of the, and maybe the most, improved team since early season.

Beg to differ...England did not play more than a few snaps vs Ryle. Ryle was also missing a key lineman and their 2nd RB. Ryle's not healthier now because they are still missing a few spots but definitely improved.

True AFT. Plus Ryan was gutting it out on a sprained knee at QB at maybe 50% that game with very limited mobility plus trying to adapt to a new system. What is hilarious to me is that last year Ryle beat Cooper on opening night yet the rest of the year Cooper was better than Ryle according to HB. He was actually right last year, but not willing to admit that Ryle is better than the Jags this year - all scores from games against 4 common opponents aside. Quite funny. Let's see how the Raiders and Dixie stack up. I look for a great game on Senior Night in Union. I'm sure Cooper will do better against Dixie. Oh, wait a minute, that game won't mean anything so you can't compare those scores. LOL!!! Thanks and best wishes to all of our outstanding young men on every team that sacrifice and work hard so we can poke fun and disagree with each other about meaningless stuff like rankings, etc.

Hmmm, what I remember last year was a Ryle parent telling me Cooper would beat Ryle at the end of the year. I didn't go and post that over and over again, I would say i'd take Cooper at the end of the year last year though.

With that said, last year cooper only won 3 games, this ye with a totally different team

worh only 3 returning starters combined on offense and defense they actually have surprised even me. Could Ryle win in a rematch this year? Yes they could. Is it a for gone conclusion? No it's not and that is because Coopers defense is so much better than they were last year. Ryle is much better than last years team also. What is funny is you are so quick to say Ryle would win and you use excuses already for their early matchup. Problem is England ayes A LOT more than just a couple plays last game and it's not Coopers fault that he didn't get a lot of touches. You can make up all the excuses you want but remember also for Cooper it was an entirely new offense and starters that still had no identity when they played. Something else you forget is Cordell-Armstrong is among the leading rushers in NKY which you seem to sell short.

So can Ryle win? Yep. Can Cooper win? Definitely. Your guess is as good as anyone's. I'll stick with Cooper and I guess we will find out next year since both teams will meet in district play.

As far as how will both do against Dixie. Well that doesn't matter. You see Dixie game is Coopers last and doesn't mean a thing and Cooper as usual will rest a bunch of their key ayers like they usually do before playoffs, however Ryle is playing a district opponent when they play Dixie, that game means a little more to Ryle I would think.
