Madison Central 78 Trinity 77
I think Trinity becoming a basketball power is the nightmare scenario for the KHSAA, so yes I believe that the refs will not give ANY close calls to Trinity in football or basketball. I have seen several games this year and have seen nothing that makes me think I'm wrong.

I wasn't there and from the video I won't dispute the refs. That said, the Trinity players put themselves in the position to allow a call - good or bad- to decide the game. If your shirt says Trinity, you will NOT get ANY close calls when the game is on the line. Remember that and play accordingly.

Trinity vs Don Bosco "National Championship" game a no go!
I heard about it when it first came up and said at the time that I didn't like it. I think it takes away from the state championship and also prevents the kids from moving on to other sports. I also think Coach Beatty was just being honest. As he pointed out in the post game interviews, the coaches had either been coaching or scouting for 18 straight Friday nights. That's a long haul. I know they all love their coaching jobs, but they also have families. I don't want to see the high scholos follow the NCAA. If such a game is ever sanctioned and we are ever in the mix again, I'm sure we would play, but I hope they leave it alone. SI had the article a few years ago mourning the loss of multi sport athletes in high school. Extending football season into the end of December would be another step toward complete elimination of multi sport athletes. By the way, I feel the same way about flying around the country for games. I just don't think it is a good idea.

2011 KHSAA 6A State Championship: Trinity 62 Scott County 21
Let's just say I could be retired if I had saved it all. Everyone gets a sweatshirt Tuesday, kids, grandkids etc.

Not so much an accomplishment, just old.

2011 KHSAA 6A State Championship: Trinity 62 Scott County 21
After a couple of days to reflect, what Trinity accomplished this season will stand for a long time. I have seen all 21 of the Trinity champions and most of the rest since the mid 60s. This Trinity team is the best I've ever seen. Scott County was better than advertised. They had very good speed in the backfield and their quarterback was as tough as they come. All in all, a very enjoyable season.

Garrett Sauer (sp?)
Through my fault is the literal translation, if I remember my Latin. I too must have misinterpreted the Coach's meaning, or maybe not. Either way, it isn't about the playing time, it is about the total experience of Trinity. As my son told me, being a sub at Trinity is better than being a four year starter anywhere else.

See Coach Strong's comments about Will Stein. Some folks just don't understand.

I'm sure he did. In fact, it was so important to him that he wrote it on the back of his hand.

Question for Trinity fans re: Championship Rings
And Don't feel sorry for me, you don't have statewide people asking questions about my school. Check some other sites out, this isn't the only one in the state. I bring this up and don't mind the bashing but I speak from what I see and if no one else says anything thats their choice. Posted regarding your idea to get us out of the KHSAA We have achieved a lot. We didn't lie cheat or steal to get any of it. We operate within the same KHSAA rules as everyone else. Are we proud of what we have achieved? You bet.

Question for Trinity fans re: Championship Rings
I would say yes to this. I think you have insinuated a lot of things you don't know. I consider that rumor mongering.

Trinity 42 Saint Xavier 6
Saying that X is a long term No 2 doesn't mean that there aren't years when they are on top. Of course there are, but two years in the mid 70s and four or five in the late 90s don't change the story. Over the past 60 years X has been content to be somebodys second fiddle.

You know, with that much manure I could fertilize all of Kansas. Look at the history. X has always been No 2 in football. Before Trinity it was Flaget. Since the late 60s it has been Trinity. I can remember a quote from an X player in the mid 60s that blamed the gap with Flaget on X academic standards. Now it is all those other fall sports. Give me a break.

St X vs Trinity Football - Is the gap between them real or perceived?
RM, despite what is alledged, the KHSAA monitors financial aid very closely to make sure that member schools follow the rules. I strongly believe that all of the schools follow the rules and I know that Trinity does.

St X vs Trinity Football - Is the gap between them real or perceived?
RM, that isn't correct. See above post. Also, see President's Message, pg 1. http://www.thsrock.net/images/leader/leader2011spring.pdf

St X vs Trinity Football - Is the gap between them real or perceived?
A little clarification is in order. Until this year financial aid never topped 50 percent because that was all of the money that was available. Thanks to a lot of hard work by the Trinity Foundation, this year the percentage was 65 percent. Under KHSAA rules it could be 100 percent if the money was available. If a student needed 100 percent aid, this year they would get 65 percent. In the future, Lord willing, as more money becomes available, the percentage will increase. I would love to see the amount of money avaiable cover 100 percent of need for all of our students.

St X vs Trinity Football - Is the gap between them real or perceived?
Both. The available money is divided by the total need and then everyone gets that same percentage of their need. Need for each family is determined by an out of state service approved by KHSAA.

The Trinity Foundation has been making a big push to increase the amount of aid it gives out. This year I believe Trinity gave out as much or more aid as X.

Trinity 42 Saint Xavier 6
One other thing I should point out. I think that the whole notion of the subs not playing is WAY overblown, especially by anyone with Tiger in their name. My sons experience was not playing as a sophomore, playing some as a junior and playing a lot as a senior. I think that is the way it works for most of the guys.

Very well said. You could have been quoting my son. He has often said that he would rather be a sub at Trinity than a four year starter at any other school. He also repeated how important his job was at practice.

KHSAA Where are you?!!!!
Oak Hills is not what we choose to be. It is our choice. If you want to change the mission of Trinity High School so that your kid won't lose a fooball game I suggest you attempt to get a seat on the Trinity Board of Directors and go for it. The playing field is level. All schools operate under the same KHSAA rules. We are successful because we provide the finest high school educational experience available. We work very hard to do that and are very protective of what we have built. Yes, people ask questions. Those questions have been answered. People just don't like the answers. I think it is very simple. If we have built what we have within the rules, that means other people could do the same. If they haven't, it is on them. People don't want to hear that, but it is true.
