Good field in this year's tournament - one of the stronger regions in the state, IMO. Somerset, Rockastle, Danville, Boyle, West Jessamine, or Mercer could walk away with the title, with Southwestern and Wayne completing the field. Boyle probably has the best pitcher in the tourney in Cooper, followed by Witten of Danville and Robertson of Mercer. Somerset probably has the best lineup one through nine. The winner of the tourney will probably be decided before the first pitch is ever thrown. The teams that draw SW and Wayne will have a decided advantage with pitching. Any thoughts?

Witten started after throwing two on Monday?

Good call on this score Pride50... Pulaski jumped out to an early 2-0 lead on a homerun by Perkins, but some timely hitting and a big three run homer by Price put the Jumpers up for good. Pulaski had Wallen on the ropes a couple times, but couldn't seem to get the big hit. Perkins, on the other hand, couldn't seem to find his breaking pitches all night long, and Somerset's hitters were able to throw their hands through the zone and hit the ball to the right side. Tough ending for Perkins, as he was the lone senior on Pulaski's team, and by far its best player. He is a vastly underrated hitter.

Yes, that's Pulaski's field. They have a very good field crew....

John Perkins, the older one. The younger brother doesn't play baseball anymore.

It will be a very, very tall task for the Maroons. Somerset is probably better at 7 of the 9 positions on the field. The Jumpers are more athletic. They have much more experience than Pulaski; at times the Maroons will have 3 freshmen, 3 sophomores, and an 8th grader on the field. For Pulaski to win, they would have to play one of their best games of the year, while Somerset would have to have one of its worst.

You need to throw strikes and make plays. If you do this, you'll be in every game and give yourself a chance to win

After a rough first half of the season, Pulaski seems to have its young kids playing better, as they've won 7 of their last 8. Perkins throws 5 innings, striking out 10 while allowing only a single.

Saw on another board that Lexington teams finished 17-1 in the LIT. To me, that is an unbelievable record against good competition. In a word, wow.

Good game to watch. Perkins takes another tough luck loss for Pulaski, walking none and striking out 9 or 10. West has a very nice shortstop - outstanding arm.

Somerset has a good club - solid middle infield, good speed, 5 or 6 quality hitters. Pulaski made several errors on very routine plays. They are just not a very good defensive team, and don't hit it well enough to overcome it. Quality outing by Wallen; threw lots of strikes, may have given up 4 or 5 hits.

Those two will help an already strong Somerset team. Regardless of the results of this game, I still think they're the team to beat in the 12th.

The latest KHSBCA poll has them at #10 I think. Not that it matters, they are a good team. I watched for a few innings and was really surprised at the amount of breaking pitches Witten threw (however, I don't guess I should be considering the success he had). It's a pitch that he's really improved over the last couple years. When will Molen be back? Also, is the Hughes kid playing this season?

Did Brown have some back pain last year, also? Do they throw off an indoor mound much?

I've always said that the centerfielder at Mercer County (or the team they're playing) has the best arm in the state...

Phil Grundy at Somerset was a first or second team all american at Western Carolina before being drafted.

Eastern's field is nice; I especially like the commemorative bricks that make up the backstop.
