Rockcastle Co 4 Boyd Co 2

Boyd can't seem to find their bats on offense

Sounds like a good win for the Rockets, isnt Boyd ranked in the top 15 in the state this year.

I talked to Coach Bussell yesterday evening and he said that the team has looked fairly good so far. Although the varsity is only 1-2 down there, he's liked what he's seen from his starting pitching.

The schedule Rockcastle County is playing down there is a pretty good one. They've lost to Greenup County (Tanner Perkins had to come out early in this one after complaining with back pain) and West Jessamine (Dakota Smith had to leave the game early with some pain....not sure where....but when he left, Rockcastle County was only down 3-1 going into the 6th before WJHS blew it open).

In the Boyd County game, Paul Payne pitched really well and picked up his second win on the season with Tanner Perkins getting the save. Boyd County pitched a kid named Bowling....not sure of the stats from this game but Coach Bussell said both starters threw well.

Did Brown have some back pain last year, also? Do they throw off an indoor mound much?

As far as I know, they've been practicing outside for a while now. When I went back home for spring break a few weeks ago, I went to one of their practices and the field was 20 times drier than what NKU's field was so they shouldn't have been throwing off an indoor mound that much if at all.

Boyd was ranked 11th in pre-season. With early loses to Johnson Central and now Rockcastle, both which are very good teams. They might be dropping way down in the top 25 if not out of it.

I thought Boyd was supposed to top in the state this year?

Actually Bowling is about Boyd's #3 pitcher at best, possibly their #4. Face Moore or Perkins and you see a different ball game. Boyd's bats will come around by the time it matters.
