I think Southwestern/Corbin refuse to play, but someone out there may know for sure. As far as the Somerset not playing the county schools issue, I really do think it's a shame. That game alone makes enough money to run an athletic program for the majority of a school year. Quite frankly, I don't think Somerset's athletic program can go too many years without that revenue.

I remember Durough. Very tough. If I'm correct, I saw Chris Snopek hit a BOMB off Durough at Somerset's field (don't remember why they were playing there), but I think it was the only run Harrison scored. Is Jed an insurance salesman now?

I remember facing Noel; he was very good. Carrender was the best competitor I've ever seen. I can remember he and Joe Blanton hooking up in a tournament at North Laurel. Carrender outpitched Blanton, threw a one hitter with 14 strikeouts, but got beat 1-0.

Who played in the majors besides Blanton, Sowers, and Kearns?

Why didn't they play this game Friday?

I don't know if that's his exact record, but I'm sure it's close. When you think about how many of those wins are against Dunbar, Tates Creek, Lexington Christian, etc., you realize how amazing those numbers really are.

Maronde has the best shot. To be 32-2 or whatever he is in that district is nothing short of amazing. Add to that he has a chance at another state title and I'd say he's a pretty safe bet.

Region officials normally don't get flip-flopped until sectional play. All officials umpiring the 12th Region tourney have been umpiring in the 12th all season.

No umpires in the 12th Region are out to get certain teams. They make calls that some coaches and fans may not agree with, but that's part of the game. They do their best. Simple fact is, every coach in the 12th region is allowed to rate umpires. The umpires that worked that game were apparently rated fairly high by both Somerset's and Mercer's coaches, or they wouldn't have been officiating that game.

I listened to most of the game on the radio; sounded like a great high school game. Did Mercer start the freshman that no-hit Somerset earlier in the year?

Looks like it will be Mercer/Somerset in the first round, along with SW/Boyle on that side. I think Rock/West and Wayne/Danville on the other side. Don't know times yet.

Did the Sadler boy play for Danville?

Pulaski is limping home down the stretch, really playing some poor baseball. Lincoln is much better than their record indicates. Weir is a very nice pitcher.
