Good field in this year's tournament - one of the stronger regions in the state, IMO. Somerset, Rockastle, Danville, Boyle, West Jessamine, or Mercer could walk away with the title, with Southwestern and Wayne completing the field.

 

Boyle probably has the best pitcher in the tourney in Cooper, followed by Witten of Danville and Robertson of Mercer. Somerset probably has the best lineup one through nine.

 

The winner of the tourney will probably be decided before the first pitch is ever thrown. The teams that draw SW and Wayne will have a decided advantage with pitching.

 

Any thoughts?

Danville a slight edge with Somerset, Rockastle, and Mercer just a tad behind.

I agree the draw will be Key. I would go with 1)Danville, 2)Boyle, 3)Somerset I think anyone of these teams could win it.

 

4) Mercer, 5) Rock I think could win two games if the draw goes their way

Even though the other night against Rock was not the best display of pitching for Somerset this season, its been the pitching that has always kept them in the games this year.. Wallen, Price, Spears, and Fitzpatrick, with Molen coming off the injury is still working off the rust..

 

My opinion would be that Somerset has the second best pitching staff in the region this year behind Mercer.. But I have also seen them play a great deal of more games than any other team as well so it may be a little biased...

I picked Somerset to win the twelfth before the season, and I would like to stick with that pick. They have the most potent offense in the region. The injury to Molen seems to have slowed his progress, though, and in the district tourney, Hughes didn't look to be 100% either. Some of the talk floating around the stands was that his shoulder may have been aggravated a bit. Any word on that?

Not sure, but I think that Somerset drew Wayne first round. Should help the Jumpers to save some pitching.
