Pulaski County and Campbellsville scrimmaged today at Pulaski. Good game for a scrimmage, Pulaski scored in the bottom of the 7th to pull out a 5-4 win. On a side note, Campbellsville has a very good pitcher who throws the ball well. I think he signed with Louisville, maybe?

South Laurel would be in the top 5 of this group by season's end.

The 11th is the toughest, hands down. Heck, the 42nd district (Lafayette, LexCath, LexChris, Dunbar, Tates Creek) in the 11th is tougher than darn near every other region...

Hitting slumps in young players are usually caused by one of two things, or both: 1. The hitter has developed some sort of "hitch" in his swing (un-needed hand movement, longer than normal stride, high leg kick, opening of the hips too early, etc,) which has thrown off his timing. or 2. Because of a hitch, the hitter has developed a "longer" swing than normal, resulting in contact off the handle or the end of the bat, but rarely on the sweet spot. Tee work, followed by correct soft toss will help break a slump.

Without Ty Perkins, John Perkins will get double-teamed all night long. It will be a long night for Pulaski.

How do you schedule too many games in basketball? I know you over-schedule in baseball to account for rainouts, but you don't have many cancellations in basketball.

I wish they would do away with the "All A" period. Many regions have, what, 4 or 5 "A" teams? Big deal. If you want a championship, win the real one. Just my take, I suppose I'm old school a bit...

I remember watching a game at Campbell County in 2000. Has that field been greatly improved since that time? I've noticed quite a few references to it.

I thought they had an indoor hitting facility? Or did Cobb's legions take that from baseball?

Somerset's field also has the sun problem, but a decent field nonetheless.

So far I have these fields getting the most mentions: Corbin Henry Clay PRP Johnson Central Knott Central I've been to Corbin's and Henry Clay's in the past year, and they are very nice. It's been 2 or 3 years since I've been to PRP's, but the pictures are great. The other two I've never seen.

Doesn't that create a pond at home plate?

Fraley made the rule before basketball season started. The players signed a sheet in agreement. Deaton had nothing to do with it.

Care to share the five best fields that you have seen personally? I noticed that a field in Northern KY won an award concerning this and would love to see it. In fact, it's kind of amazing that Josh, as fast as he is now, didn't steal a silly amount of bases in high school. He was one of those kids that developed late in high school and benefitted a ton from going to college.

Josh hits on a daily basis at Pulaski; Coach McAninch throws to him and he sometimes works with some of the players. He was working hard on turning on the inside pitch to be more productive at the plate, in order not to be labeled a "singles hitter." He needs to get out of that park in Corpus Christi where the wind is forever blowing in from right field, and he might manage a few more homers.

I've thought that as well, but with the state of the game of basebal today (ie power, power, power), the Astros probably wouldn't take a chance with two singles hitting, speedy players in the same outfield. Tavares is set in center, and already provides speed and average.
