I'm not really sure what your point is. South Laurel isn't an elite team, but they're probably the best in the 13th region. Branscum is an elite pitcher, however, and would be the best in the 13th, hands down. That's the biggest reason South was beaten by Southwestern. Not because South isn't any good, or is overrated, but because they faced a very good pitcher.

Whitley scored more runs than Southwestern. In all seriousness, I think Whitley beat their #3 or #4 pitcher? Congratulations Whitley.

Southwestern threw Branscum, and although North beat him, he's better than any pitcher in the 13th region.

That's what errors do. If it helps you understand how badly the last inning went for Pulaski, Somerset struck out four times and still plated 6 runs. Ouch.

Somerset played good baseball, and played well defensively. It should be a veru good district tournament.

Big district win for the Jumpers. Jordan Molen picked up the win for Somerset. John Perkins, despite striking out 13 or 14 Somerset hitters, gets the loss for the Maroons. 4-3 game gets blown open in the last inning as Pulaski made some errors. Somerset's first 4 or 5 hitters are very well balanced, good hitters.

Remember, judging by the number of first place votes cast in that poll, less than 10% of coaches voted, period. From Eastern Kentucky, you probably had 3 or 4 coaches vote. This poll is meaningless, and until you get at least half the coaches to vote, it will remain meaningless.

Nope, it's a coaches poll, but I doubt Pulaski's coach is going to vote them #1. It looks like of the 250 some odd head coaches, only about twenty actually voted.

It was simply a case of a young umpire behind the plate that looked up into the stands and saw 6 or 7 professional scouts and decided that he needed to have a major league strike zone (or smaller). The play on the base paths was just bad; a clear obstruction call. It didn't doom Pulaski, though, their own defense took care of that.

Strange game as both Brown and Perkins hooked up in what should have been a pitcher's duel. With the strike zone the size of a college textbook, it turned into a game with 17 (I think) walks.

Is Danville's field still the same as it was when Paul Morse hit 60 or so homers over his high school career? 330 or so to center?

South has played some very good teams.

I've always thought that Garmon and Ledington do a pretty good job.

Due to budget concerns within many school districts, teams cannot get a bus for away games (no drivers) until said driver finishes his/her route. Many teams cannot leave until 4:30 to make 5:30 start times.

Kind of surprising score in this one. Did Somerset play Paintsville also?

Jesse Carter gets the win for Pulaski with Jordan Stumbo picking up the save. Corbin had the tying run on second in the top of the 7th but couldn't get him home. Jeremy Smith hits a two run homer for Pulaski.

Alexander, Hines, and Walls pitched. Not sure who all had hits.

Good game that went 8 innings. Somerset wins on a squeeze play in the bottom of the 8th. Big win over the defending 12th Region Champs.
