I just heard that the Southwestern/ Lincoln county game has been cancelled on 2/14. Something to do with Title IX.

Can anyone confirm this?

I heard it from one of southwesterns basketball coaches.

Looks like SW didn't have the right number of girls games on Friday and Saturday nights.

Sounds like Southwestern needs to find a competent AD.

so the girls didn't schedule enough games on friday or saturday night. so the KHSAA is going to punish them by canceling a boys game. Makes perfect since to me....not.

Doesn't this punish the lincoln county boys program also?, (in that it costs them a game)

I have known Southwesterns AD for a longtime. You will not find a finer more honest man. I would say he is more than competent.

Didn't say he wasn't honest, just that he apparently didn't read or understand the rules.

Obviously he made a mistake. But why would the KHSAA punish the boys basketball team for the girls not scheduling enough prime time games? The KHSAA told SW to forfeit the Lincoln Co. game. This punishes kids like Casey Dalton, Dustin Fothergill and the rest of Southwesterns players. What role do these players have in making out the girls schedule? Futhermore if the AD is responsible, then by cancelling a game essentially gives him a night off. (is this punishment?)

Some of this title 9 stuff is getting ridiculous! I don't know the particulars in this case, but I think you will see a lot more of these types of punishments given out.
