This young man has looked electric! I have a question for the Mr. Football. How much does playing these poor competition teams where he gets pulled after the running clock hurt his chances? I could see them running clock 4-6 teams on their schedule and his stats could not compare because of it potentially. 8 TD when its a competitive game until the end would definitely get it done, but getting pulled at halftime with 200 yards passing and several yards rushing won't wow people at the end of the year like some other kids probably will have. How do the voters manage that?

The more I've watched the past few days the more Hart just seems to always make the play when they need to. Against Edmonson it was a big 4th down stop and converting their own 4th and long on the go ahead possession. Over the past few years against Glasgow in all of these one possession games these things have always seemed to go Hart County's way. I'll be interested to see if trend continues that way and what kind of black magic is summoned to overcome the Scotties. Now leaning Hart County and I'm gonna call it "The Last Raid."

These Raiders are still physical. Talking with their opponents, I have been told their line will get after it and will be super motivated having a former Scot on their team. Dogfight to the end would be my guess, throw talent spread out the window, this is a newfound rivalry ready for another iteration. Well run Wing Offense will keep it close even if the Defense shuts them down. Give me a tied ball game at halftime and a Special Teams big play by the Scottie’s before the floodgates open late!

I worry about stuff like that from time to time, but I just don't think the Indians have enough in the bag to take down the Scotties, even if a few players have bad games, I think it ends up being a rout. Scotties have been excited to give Adair county an opening loss on their new field on HOCO all week.

What is y'alls philosophy on scheduling Varsity Games? Historic and traditional rivalries with the same few teams, their district, and that doesn't leave very many open games to try and schedule tough opponents, cupcakes, higher RPI teams etc. I have heard many people say they like having a schedule with 3-4 cupcakes, 3-4 games with opponents equal to them, and 2-3 teams better than them to really gauge where they are at. If you were a coach how would you go about scheduling? Fans seem to only care about wins and losses, but know that 10-0 against the school of the blind doesn't really build culture and prolonged success. We also know that some fan bases will run you out of town with less than 7-8 wins a season if you schedule too tough of opponents even though iron sharpens iron. Is there a system you all believe in for scheduling and what if a historic rival is down and the game wouldn't be close or you guys are down and they are out of your league? How far would you travel etc?

I like being in the same area talent wise and understand the idea of relegation and promotion and won't immediately dismiss the idea because of the soccer connotation. Would this actually work in KY with so many teams spread so far away? I think of these county schools who may have to travel vast distances to have similar opponents, or would it be about the same as the current structure? I think of Fulton City/ County. Surely they wouldn't have to travel to Berea/ Harlan to play games.

I don't see them changing the 6 class system either. I understand the not wanting to play the 1 seed vs the 4 seed and not every team getting into the playoffs, but the financial side of things make me wonder about a larger question: I think a 1 seed's administration would rather have them play a 4 seed team than have a bye because they would receive more gate money from those who attend the game, than having a bye week... One could also argue that if the clock gets running early it is basically a bye week anyway. I was presented an idea a few years ago where the 1 seeds get a bye and the cross districts 2 and 3 seeds play each other round 1. The 4 seeds would play each other as a bowl game. 1s get a bye, small schools get extra revenue and a level of competition they should be more apt to compete with. The same problem though, the district winners would lose a game of gate money and that could be upwards of $15-20k of ticket and concession money.

Pretend substitution is this case is being confused with the "Hide-out" type play. Which is why everyone must check into the playing field by running inside the numbers. I still have not saw the play in its entirety, only the small video by the Lexington-Herald after the snap and can't seem to find it, but from the description, it only becomes illegal if the player is running off the field with intent to be substituted. A jog and then standing on the playing surface falls into the rules perfectly. I have ran this same type of play before. If I am a play caller I am telling the officials before the play happens to ensure they are watching and have time to process the rule as it is happening. Then it is left up to their judgement, they deemed it legal, who are we to second guess that.

I think we think their ceiling is the highest. We'll see after this week when they play LCA and Bardstown later in the season. I think beating Boyle is a feat in itself and should have some notoriety more so than the other teams on the list in 3A. Murray hasn't played anyone yet, Bardstown plays OCath this week, Bell played a really good Campbellsville team week 1, Central will always be a contender, I have no issues with Lexington Catholic at 2. Losing to Ballard in a season opener with a new head coach and a late hire at that, shouldn't be the hang up in my opinion.

Same as last week with Glasgow and Rockcastle switching places. I think top two are on a different level and everyone else it's about matchups, hot streaks, and injury prevention deep into the playoffs. Central seems to be heading in the right direction also. I think the depth in this class is a little unappreciated across the state.

If another state uses RPI is there not a way to just merges the ratings between states? they currently use a flat rate of .53 correct?

Was released last year on September 16, which was a Monday. I'd Imagine sometime today. I have also seen that for football sometimes it is the beginning of the 6th playing week. What's the rush? Haha this on is out of everybody's control.

Glasgow Vs Adair in Columbia! biggest discussions of the week will include whether or not the game will be taken place on Adairs new turf football field (apparently thanks to Don Franklin) or Lindsey Wilson College. I don’t know the all time records, but I believe Adair has only beaten Glasgow twice: 1997 and last year, 2024. Glasgow is currently 4-0 with wins over Clay County TN, Barren County, Monroe County, and Allen County-Scottsville. Glasgow finally found some offense last week as their Senior Quarterback Hudson Gumm was nearly perfect throwing 7/8 for a TD and running the ball exceptionally well too. Glasgow was also helped by Junior Jaylan Bradley and Senior Jerrick Martin. Adair has not had the same amount of luck this season. They are 1-3 with the lone win coming from a less than stellar Metcalfe County. Adair has some good pieces in number 6 and number 7 as well as a solid LB Byron Rodgers. Adair lost so much firepower last year including Lane Grant, Easton Jesse, and Solomon Stonebreaker, I’m not sure they have enough firepower to compete in this one.

I know from reading about Glasgow that they were really good in the 1980s, won a game vs Corbin early in the decade. Later in the decade had 3 straight undefeated regular seasons but lost to Joe Jaggers and Ft Knox as their only losses and ft Knox won state a few times. In the late 90s they made it to state a few times, but lost to the 5 peat Boyle County twice in a row. in the Teens it has been the Louisville Metro Schools like Desales, Holy Cross, and CAL. Just seems like there is always someone a little bit better than them also including Bardstown a few times. And again I don't know the stories about other schools. I have heard of Boone, Owensboro Catholic, and Raceland.

US Army Corps of Engineers- Fort Peck Dam to Barren River Lake to finish my two years and retire, got to pick from about 20 places and chose Glasgow-Glasgow cause I thought it was neat.

I really thought last year was Owensboro Catholic's year! I moved From Glasgow MT to Glasgow KY a few years ago and have fallen in love with the football in this state. Glasgow, MT (also the Scotties) has 4 state championships, but the level is nowhere close to the same. the helmet is pretty cool though

I don't even know where to begin or what to make the criteria. I love KY football and want to know the best programs who have just fallen short of making it to the top of the mountain. Maybe they are consistently good but just not quite there. I would like to think teams since the playoffs started instead of the old "Mythical" state champions named by the newspapers back in the day.

Honest question, would these schools struggling with numbers be able to play each other in 8 man football or some equivalent? I have to imagine that would be better on morale/ sustainability than forfeiting games. I've never been in that bad of a situation. I'm not saying a 8 man league, but almost like a joint practice/scrimmage type scenario. is that allowed?

Bell, Rock, Lawrence, Lloyd... Maybe Russell?

Taylor County hasn't played very impressive teams so far, I think we'll know more when they play Etown, John Hardin, and even Russell County seems to be a decent opponent coming up. Taylor seems like the best team on their schedule this year so we may not completely know until the 2nd or 3rd round of the playoffs. Atherton I know has their best team probably ever. I just don't know what their ceiling is.. same point, bad opponents. We'll know after they play their second half of the season. They could definitely entertain playing in late November. Glasgow is Intriguing. They have a small line, but have dominated the LOS thus far. I know Barren and Monroe aren't world beaters, but still quality opponents. Glasgow's schedule seems to be clear ahead, barring a slip up with Hart or Franklin Simpson at the end of the year. I don't think they can touch CAL or Lex Cath from what I've seen, but I could see them make a run to Region and then who knows what can happen. Nicholas County. I love Simon Clouse. I have known him since his days in Clarksville TN and have friend who knew him when he was at Hart and Allen County. And another friend who knew him all the way back when he was playing at Harrison. They've played bad teams... but I think they are still pretty good. CAL... enough said... Juggernauts... gets their players rings sized now. Only ones who seem to hold a candle in that class may be Lex Cath.
