Taken from this week's watchlist:

Wyatt Robbins (QB, Murray)
?️ | Created a new constellation by piercing the night sky with eight touchdown passes, one shy of tying the state record. He's also collecting this week's 'William Tell Marksmanship Award' ? after completing 17 of his 20 pass attempts for 336 yards against Marshall County. He aggressively made his move up the watchlist with the greatest statistical passing performance of the season.
Season so far: 66/93 (71%) for 1,080 yards and 16 touchdowns and 1 interception | 250 rushing yards

Week 5 produced an efficient night against a poor Russellville squad: 10/12 for 204 yards and 2 touchdowns

Last week won't do much on its own to move the needle, but it's a continuation of a fantastic season so far.

That is soo awesome..Glad to see Murray State University recruiting great local talent...

@Watusi

Did you know Murray’s Head Coach is former Matewan star Melvin Cunningham?

I honestly did not know this until just a week or two ago.

Yeah he has been there 2 or 3 years now.  Boy, he was a special local talent and I am glad to see him doing well in the coaching world.  Good memories.

This young man has looked electric!

I have a question for the Mr. Football. How much does playing these poor competition teams where he gets pulled after the running clock hurt his chances? I could see them running clock 4-6 teams on their schedule and his stats could not compare because of it potentially. 8 TD when its a competitive game until the end would definitely get it done, but getting pulled at halftime with 200 yards passing and several yards rushing won't wow people at the end of the year like some other kids probably will have. How do the voters manage that?

I think there are several good examples recently you can pull from as a case study, but Isaac Dixon of Belfry in 2021 is probably the best example.

Basically the only games Belfry was winning in the regular season were running clocks. They also had a Covid forfeit. Between two games against Pike Central, Magoffin County, and Floyd Central he had ten carries combined.

What I will say is this, in terms of those running clock games, efficiency is key. Dixon averaged probably 30 yards per carry in those games and scored a TD about every 2.5 touches.

The bigger picture though is stats only go so far in Mr. Football.... what Dixon proved is your grand stage to win the award when you aren't a tier one college recruit ultimately comes down to what you do in the playoffs and specifically the State Finals. The true football nerds on here respected Dixon and knew he had a career yard per carry that was almost unprecedented... but nothing bolstered Dixon's case more than winning two rings and going off in both of those games. I still insist I don't even think he wins it in 2021 if he didn't put arguably the greatest single State Finals performance by a RB in the history of KY Football. When Dixon ran for 376 yards with 5 TD's against Tilghman and put Belfry on his back for a comeback victory he caught everyone's attention and became sort of a sentimental pick. That day I think Dixon not only locked up all the EKY votes, but probably all the WKY votes as well.

If Robbins can lead Murray to a title and force people to take notice and fall in love with him he has a shot. Some of these rural paper voters would rather cast their lot with the sentimental favorite over the "next in line" at one of the state's biggest powerhouses... but you have to give them a reason to do it and not just vote for their local legend they otherwise plan to.

Thought Mr. Football now came from the Coaches and not the news guys?

Stats from KHSAA from their win Friday for Robbins:

17/23 411 yards 3 TD's

13 carries, 53 yards, TD

Through 6 games now:

93/128 1695 yards 21 TD, 1 INT

38 carries, 348 yards, TD

Averaging 340 apy per game

That is a 236.7 QB rating using the college rating system.

Against a badly overmatched Webster County squad, Robbins completed 5/12 passes for 58 yards and a touchdown.

It's basically the equivalent to taking the week off.

Season so far: 98/140 (70%) for 1,753 yards and 22 touchdowns and 1 interception | 368 rushing yards and 1 touchdown

After fading from the conversation for a few weeks, Robbins is ramping up for the postseason.

He torched Caldwell County for 346 yards and three touchdowns while completing 12/13 attempts in Week 11.

Season so far: 134/185 (72%) for 2,515 yards and 28 touchdowns and 2 interceptions | 456 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns

Dang these are awesome stats for this young man..passing completion in the game, passing yards for season, interceptions and rushing yards...Crowe from Paducah Tilghman has some awesome stats as well but only 2 interceptions for Wyatt is awesome...
