I was not impressed with Ryle. Outside of the Savage kid and the QB I didn’t think they looked very good. The QB looks to be a little more athletic than his brother but much smaller and doesn’t throw the ball nearly as good as his brother. They looked weak up front. I say Highlands will put it on them at their scrimmage. I like to give the Highlands guys a hard time but truth is they are going to be really good this season. The Cooper game is one I have circled on my calendar. I think that is going to be a great game.

Ryle did not impress me. I say Cooper beats them by at least 2 TDs.

If you are talking about just the best overall player then I would have to go with either Martels Carter from PT or Quisenberry from Boyle. But if you are going by what they have done in their careers it is hard to pass up Atwell. Can you believe those stats WOW! And that was just last season. Kid is a absolute beast.

They have been in the Ohio D1 championship game 3 years in a row and they are loaded with 3 and 4 star kids. I don’t think Trinity will face anyone in Kentucky that is as good as Springfield. The Rocks defense looks to be very very good and with all those weapons on offense I just don’t think anyone in Kentucky can hang with them.

Trinity is going to be a beast this season. I don’t see any team from Kentucky (maybe Boyle but obviously they don’t play) beating Trinity this year.

WOW! Those are some of the nicest high school facilities I have ever seen. I guess it helps when you have a huge Toyota factory in the county. Big shout out to the Scott County administration.

Ok you are right. Ryle fans go ahead and keep thinking you won a “scrimmage’. Maybe you can come to Lexington in December and watch Beechwood play in a real game.

I think Highlands is the real deal unfortunately I also think Cooper is more of the real deal. I say Cooper wins again this season.

Oh right Ryle won because the score was 7 to 3 after 1 quarter of play and we can disregard what happened on the 10 play controlled scrimmage. Also when your QB ran the long TD multiple Beechwood defenders pulled up because you could not hit the QB. Get real dude. Also one of the Ryle TD got called back on a holding call. I though it was about as even as you play but I though both teams looked sloppy. But no way you could say Ryle won the game because they didn’t play a game.

Every year SK has big kids up front but outside of the Selm kid they are all soft and slow. I have not seen this years squad but if they are anything like the past few years I am not impressed. I guess maybe you can just try to get those big bodies on smaller guys and run the football. Lex Cath is usually pretty good so based on the scrimmage SK could be much improved. Time will tell.

Yes Beechwood kicked a FG. I don’t see how you could say either team won or lost with the format. I thought both teams looked a little sloppy. Ryle has some good skill players but looked slow and unathletic up front. The Savage kid is the real deal. Really runs to the football and tackles hard when he gets there definitely a power 5 recruit. Cusick looked really good for Beechwood with a touchdown catch on offense and a pick 6 on defense. Beechwood never got Erdman or Fryman involved. I can’t remember if Fryman even made a catch. Beechwood’s offensive line looked good especially the big kid from Moeller. He’s the first kid you want to get off the bus. The kid really looks the part.

You play where the TEAM needs you. If he is good enough and has the right skill set college recruiters will find him. Especially at a place like FD where Coach McPeek has D1 Power 5 recruiters walking the halls almost daily. Sounds like an outstanding young man. I hope he has a fantastic season.

Couldn’t have been too much domination because the last time I checked Cooper won that 2nd game. We will find out very soon.

Trinity doesn’t dodge anyone. Now that is a high school football schedule.

Problem is none of those big slow kids can block Austin Alexander. Cooper wins AGAIN!

Good catch Coach Hawk it was the 82 team. I think they lost to Christian County in the 4A state championship game. Christian County also had a player who had a great college career at UK and played several seasons in the NFL. I think his name was Jerry Reese.

Sounds like that cake eater has been eating too much cake ha ha…. With him and the Merz kid as well as a few other big kids they should be pretty big up front. Not sure how well they move other than Merz he looks like a pretty good athlete for his size. Hope The Cake Eaters have a good season but I personally think they are still a year away from a shot at a state championship. I say Cooper beats them this year.

That is why Trinity is who they are and why they have won so many championships because they don’t dodge anyone. They play the toughest schedule they can play every year and they are always there when Big Mama starts singing.

They will never ever ever be as good as the 1983 team. If they would bring some of those old timers back maybe they could compete and BEAT 6As best. Last time I checked Burbage was coaching at LCA. And quite frankly I don’t care what you think.

When I think of BS I think of Mark Logan, Cornell Burbage and Dermontti Dawson All graduated together in 1983, all went to UK and had great college careers then all 3 played many years in the NFL. Dawson was inducted into the pro football HOF and last year was named one of the top 100 players in NFL history. Go Defenders!

Same 4 that had a chance to win the championship last season. Beechwood, OC, Mayfield and LCA in that order. LCA and Mayfield lost a lot especially key contributors. Beechwood has all their skill players back, 4 starting OL/DL back and a 6’4” 270 lb transfer lineman who started at Moeller last year. Based on that I have to say Beechwood is the team to beat in 2A. OC has the Atwell kid at QB who is an absolute stud so you can’t count them out. On any given day any one of these 4 teams could win the state championship.

Congrats Luke! Very well deserved. I can’t wait to watch you play this season.

Every region should do this!

Springfield has been to the Division 1 state championship game either 3 or 4 years in a row. They have beaten Moeller in the state semi finals the past 3 years and have lost to Cleveland St. Ed’s all 3 years. They are coached by Moe Douglass who was an all SEC DB at UK back in the 80s who went on to a very successful NFL career. Should be a great barometer for Trinity.

I think this may be the year CC comes back to the pack. They lost alot from last years team and based on what I saw last year they don’t have the same talent to replace those players this season. I think they have some good young kids but it may be a few years before they make much impact. But I have thought the same thing in past season and they are always right in the thick of it in the 10th so you can never count them out.
