Cooper vs Christian Academy Louisville (Scrimmage)

Recommended Posts

Unimpressed with Cooper.  Their OLine could not block anyone.  O'Hara is legit, good arm.  CAL has some great talent at skill positions.  QB will be an issue for them.  Not sure they can repeat.  CAL scored at will offensively.  However, just a controlled scrimmage, no down and distance.

Going into this season the main question for Cooper was going to be how the new line holds up. With that said I do believe Cooper was missing 4 starters tonight and a couple of those guys being on the OL. So when they get them back that should help up front.

Sounds like a good thing ! I still say Cooper will be more than fine , I was impressed with Oharas scrambling capabilities last year as well, taking that away last night changes quite a bit. That O line will jive , just takes time. I will say hopefully they do it before they play Ryle , their D- fence seems to be pretty darn nasty.

I chatted with someone privately about this scrimmage and his take was CAL won this scrimmage about 5 to 3 in touchdowns.

But again, these are scrimmages and scores don't tell the whole story.  Although, this source definitely felt that CAL won the scrimmage.

So, I just heard from one of the Cooper powers that be.  He says the scrimmage was actually 5-4, CAL and that CAL did not abide by the "no blitzing" part of the scrimmage.

With that said, this source added, "Let me be clear, CAL is a damn good ball club and I will not be one bit surprised if they repeat as 3A champs again so I give them nothing but props.  Cooper will be fine..."

Perfect example of why we hear coaches say that the score doesn't matter in scrimmages. Each team/staff has certain things they want to see and work on. Even the scrimmages that are "normal" games have new or officials in training and teams are working on different things. Both of these teams (Cooper and CAL) will be at or near the top of their Class.

I agree with you.  But, it is still nice to hear the score, even if it is a scrimmage.
