Has anyone else heard of any coaches/assistant coaches that aren't teachers not returning because of this?

I heard some talking that this was just a 7v7 team. Like the one Charles Johnson puts together up here in NKY.

As a catcher if it had potential to be in the way, I'd kick it out of the way if it was around the plate/batters box. As a batter, sometimes I might try & get it dropped in the area of the bounce of a possible throw out in front of the plate. Not crazy far out, but far enough the catcher wouldn't think about going to move it. Most on deck batters are spectators in this type of play when they should be hustling up there to not only get the bat out of the way if necessary, but to "guide/coach" their teammate who is trying to score (up, down, inside, outside).

Got to get that gate fee.

Anybody seen any information on the EKU 7v7, other than it's this Saturday? I feel like that information was out already in the past years.

I was thinking the same thing. I was also wondering why the exodus to the prep school route? I know what it used to be when talent went to the likes of Oak Hills, etc back in the day. Is it still the same reason? Because it's not like these guys aren't getting seen or offers.

Depends on how you look at it. A difference maker at Beechwood will probably be a difference maker at any school in NKY. A difference maker at Conner might only be a difference maker at several schools in NKY. How many helmet holders are there around NKY that would be contributors at other schools?

I'm pretty sure he's in his junior to senior summer and still a year away from the draft.

What about “in-laws”? I don’t remember where I saw or heard the example, but daughter is a cheerleader & daughter-in-law is cheerleading coach.

I'm not talking about if I were in charge. I was just speaking in general terms as far as this conversation. There are going to be more than a few schools/teachers/coaches that get made examples of. Unfortunately, I think most will get there because of something unintended because of such gray areas. IE, Who is or isn't considered a family member?

There are workarounds to everything, good or bad. It's just the ease of it all. Plus putting it out there on Facebook opens it up to the public showing up. Plus as most are aware, there are only a handful that reach out to get the extra work in. And for the record, I'll be signing the waiver(s).

All that you mentioned are traceable. Even if it has been deleted, it can be recovered. What isn't "traceable", the phone call. Which from what I've read is still allowed. Yes, you'll be able to tell a phone call was made or received, what you won't know is what was said. Now you've opened up the he/she said vs he/she said can of worms. The few years I was coaching baseball & took care of the field, which I did mainly in the evenings throughout the year. Kids would text me & see if I was there or ask when I'd be there so they could come hit or get bullpens in. Yes, they can still do that, but this "new way" seems a little more out of the way than a quick text for all involved.

I heard someone say something similar over the weekend. There are already rules/laws in place to stop those people doing bad things. Those people don't care about those rules/laws. This seems to have gone off the deep-end, and really surprised it made it this far without much of a fight. But to be honest, I didn't hear anything about it until it already passed.

Just passing on info. Only one I know that was missing was Lewis, but I don't really know everyone on Lloyds roster. Nor am I up to speed on any teams roster at this point. I'm sure everyone isn't playing with a complete roster at this point. The 5 minutes or so was all young guys both ways.

Talk about playing the long game. Just thinking about that seems odd in the "right now" world we live in today.

This! Is their biggest issue. How many knew the AS baseball game was last night? I wouldn't have know if my kid didn't play in it. I guess who should be responsible for putting the info out there? The St E group that sponsors it? The coaches association? I'm sure there are other AS events going on that we know nothing about.

Very, very few attend that are not associated with a team. I'd say 5%, and that's probably high.

I'm surprised that Nascar & IRL can't work together to make things just a little easier on Sundays to allow someone to run the double. Maybe start the Indy 500 at noon. And I'm disappointed that Nascar decided to institute the "Larson Rule" this year. Talk about head in the sand. Especially for someone like Larson who legitimately has a shot, albeit an outside one, to win or at least do very well in both. And he is the current ambassador for motorsports in general, because let's face it, put him behind the wheel of anything, he's got a shot to win.
