theguru Posted June 19 Posted June 19 Conner Principal, Andrew Wyckoff, named Noel Rash head football coach of the Conner Cougars. What an amazing hire for Conner and like Principal Wyckoff said in the release below, Coach Rash wants to honor Coach Trosper's name and coaching legend. 2
futurecoach Posted June 19 Posted June 19 Great hire! Coach Trosper was one of the best coaches in NKY and imo one of the best in the state. And now they get another top coach with a great history obviously to continue to uphold the standard he had! Great hire by Conner and congrats to coach Rash! 2
Bac2369 Posted June 19 Posted June 19 Wow is right.. my question is how does this change the landscape/sports of football in Northern Kentucky with such a proven coach returning? 1

Across the NKY landscape I know of at least 10-15 very good players that were once in the Bandit feeder program but that are now at the top 3-5 programs. I think that all changes now and Rash changes things big time as well affects some other programs who are use to getting those kids as opposed to Conner like they should. 1

Voice of Reason Posted June 19 Posted June 19 AWESOME!! I cannot wait to see Coach Rash make it happen. And he will! 2

It will be difficult this year, but I can see there being tremendous energy in the program this season - a team on a mission to honor Coach Trosper. Coach Rash will have those kids ready to run through walls every Friday night. Going out beyond this year, Conner will be a bigger factor year in and year out. 1

My reasoning is I think Trosper was always one of the best coaches in NKY and in the state for that matter. He typically got more out of his teams than most could. At the end of the day the teams that win state titles are usually top 3 in the state in regards to talent. Rash is an amazing coach. With that said I think if you would have flipped flopped Trosper and Rash through the years. Trosper would have been the one with many state titles while at Beechwood. While Rash would be having similar type results as Coach Trosper has had at Conner. Doesn’t take away from how great Rash is, but having the top talent does matter in regards to winning at the highest levels. Both are amazing coaches. However one consistently had top 3 talent in the state for his class, and the other probably didn’t even have top 10 talent in the state the majority of the years. So that is why it doesn’t move the needle in regards to this being a step up for Conner. More so they now got another great coach. With all that said, most people probably wouldn’t look at it like I do, and just see Rash with all the state titles. So it could create some new excitement, and keep a few more kids early on. 4
