I also see it as a great thing when the Ads are relevant in Ky HS football. I just hope they can maintain this trajectory on a consistent basis. They have such a storied tradition for anything less.

I doubt they can stay within 3 touchdowns of LCA, but, if they do, I think it will give them a big boost of confidence heading into the playoffs.

I think this has the potential to be a close game.

I think Martin Co should be in there somewhere in the lower 9-10 range. I'd take out Hancock.

I just can't see #'s 3,4 and 5 being that high. There's a lot of losses amongst those 3. I think it's time to give the 2 Laurel boys a little more credit. I'd still have O'Boro in top 5 and Cooper and BGreen in the 8-10 range. But, it'll all work itself out in the next 2 weeks.

I have to agree that PT is underperforming the past few games, Whether that's the players, coaches, scheme or something else, I don't know, but, they just aren't hitting on all cylinders right now. I'm guessing Madisonville and Logan may be better than we may think, but, there other games don't reflect that. It took overtime for Madisonville to get by an average, at best, Graves team. Logan struggled to get past 2 average, at best, teams in Hart Co and Greenwood. Maybe those 2 teams(Mad'ville & Logan) just had a solid game plan and executed it perfectly, but, in reality, it's more likely PT didn't play to there potential. You can include the F.Simpson game also. Now, when that happens once, you can attribute it to a one off night, but, when it happens 3 or 4 games, there's other issues here. I don't have any idea if it's coaching, scheming, players or something else, but, instead of hyping up those teams they need to get to the root of the issue, get it figured out and correct it. I know this, if they play like they did against Mayfield, they can beat about anyone you put in front of them, but, if they play like they've played the past 3 games, teams like Highlands, Boyle and JC will put a running clock on them.

Solid win for JC and a quality loss for Corbin. Both teams looking for big things in the playoffs,

Woodford made a statement tonight. The one loss they have to Munford, Tn wasn't a bad loss. Munford improved to 6-0 on the year tonight and are currently ranked 4th in Tn Class 5a. IMO, this is the team to beat in 5a and should be ranked #1.

Mayfield, without a doubt, is a big time small school powerhouse. They consistently win 11-13 games on any given year and occasionally win 14 or 15. Once they overtake a team in wins, they're going to be tough to overtake. As far as this years team and tonights game, I'm starting to really like this team, especially defensively. Outside the Tilghman game, they've only given up 17 points combined in the other 6 games, an average of less than 3 points a game. The secondary has been solid, but, that front 7 is really getting the job done. Offensively, the OL is starting to really click and Dowell has been great in the absence of there best RB-England. The WR core with Kirby, Hoover, Morris, Islam and Flint are all playmaking guys with speed & athleticism and Robbins is improving by the game. Caldwell had some good players and not a bad team, but, the Cards took control early and often and never let them feel they could stick around. The Tigers were frustrated and had little answers to do anything about it.

Two evenly matched teams, Graves defense played well enough to give them a chance to steal this game, but, they lack speed and athleticism on the offensive side to offer much of a scoring threat. Apollo has some offensive weapons and capable of hanging around most teams they play, but, tends to struggle in crunch time against the better competition. This was a much needed confidence builder for them. Hopefully they can build on this game and continue to improve.

The weak schedule aside, Rock is a pretty talented team. Tonight just showed how solid Bell Co is. A statement win anyway you slice it. IMO, Bell is the 2nd best team in 3a behind CAL.

Highlands looks dominant thus far..

I give Graves the defensive advantage and Apollo the offensive advantage. While Graves has a pretty solid D, I still see Apollo making enough plays to put up a few points on the board and while Apollo's D has some flaws, I'm not sure Graves offense is strong enough to take advantage of it. I think Apollo should pull it out somewhere in the 28-21 range.

They're capable but I'd think Somerset wins that matchup by a couple of scores the majority of the time.

I think both these teams have some positives to build upon going forward, but, also some deficiencies to improve on. Both teams are better offensively then defensively. I think Campbellsville is no doubt a top 4-5 1a team simply due to their size and athleticism, but, could struggle against an efficient passing team. Monroe looks to be a top 8-10 2a team and capable of pulling an upset or 2 in the playoffs, but, really can't see them knocking off one of the upper echelon teams in there class.

I just don't see B'Wood being far and away better than any of the 4. They're very solid, but, could struggle against the run. Cov Cath put up almost 500 yards rushing against them and had very little passing ability. How will they defend a team that can mix it up, which all these teams can do.

I could see Somerset upsetting any of the Big 5 on a given night, but, unlikely to do it consecutive games. Those Top 5 are the real deal with any of them capable of winning it all. In fact, if you put any 2 of the 5 against each other, the outcome could be different each time. Extremely evenly matched.

I think people shouldn't sleep on Middlesboro. I'd have them in my Top 5, minimum. I also think Cov Holy Cross is a little underrated and capable of upsetting some teams.

I'm thinking LCA will have to travel to Mayfield in the round of 8, then a semi of Beechwood traveling to Owensboro to play Catholic while Mayfield/LCA winner heading to Pond Creek to take on the Pirates. Any of those matchups will be must see games.

Caldwell has a decent team this year, likely a top 10-12 team in 2a, but, doesn't play a very competitive non district schedule, especially one like Mayfield, so, I could see them getting overwhelmed in this matchup. I think the Tigers could possibly compete for a quarter or even a half, but, I see the Cards pulling away in the 2nd half, somewhere in the 56-14 range..

This is a sneaky good matchup. Camp'ville has to be the favorite coming in, but, it wouldn't surprise me if it goes either way.

that missed PAT could come back to haunt them.

I think Atherton comes in at the 4-6 range. They played a very good Manual team pretty close and a lot closer than Cooper did, so, you got to give them that, but, I think the verdicts still out due to an unproven history and a relatively weak schedule outside of the Manual game.

I'm not as high on Pikeville. They'll be right in the hunt, I just think Camp'ville and KCD have played a little better thus far.

I think Raceland is the current #1. I'd have KCD at #2, Campbellsville at #3 and then Pikeville 4th. Follow those with M'Boro, Sayre, Cov HCross, Hazard, Newport and Nicholas Co..
