@Subway5024 I’d say the concern with the Purples offense if you simply pinpoint the WR position is the timing with the Quarterback. Freshman don’t participate much if any in Spring practice and the transfer SR QB came in at the start of the new year and was a full participant in the Spring. Thus being the presumed starter all through the summer, so I’m sure the majority of the reps were given to Strautman. The silver lining is that the three SR WR’s @Purple88 mentioned two of them are good football players and the third is very special, so having those guys at your disposal makes the QB’s job way easier. Helps that Davis is not your average looking Freshman either, I remember Deuce’s first year too, had moments of shine but a lot of good teaching moments and learning experience. Can’t replicate game speed, this decision will bless the Purples for the next few seasons. Many years it’s been a question of who is going to give Purples competition in 5A, I am really looking forward to how this season works itself out.

This is the first meeting between these two schools. It’s been an all around rough season for these Raiders, last game of the season unfortunately for this bunch. @Hardin County Preps is right about the offense. It has been nice to see Jeremiah Lee step up and become the RB that flashed some talent early in his career, took a few games to settle in but he’s been impressive for the back half of the year. The Trojans have been known to have some disciplinary issues at times between the lines and the Raiders are no strangers of that sort of extracurricular activity either, hope it’s a clean competitive game. Not sure the Raiders can keep up the pace in the scoring department and NH will find a way to widen the gap late. Trojans 56 Raiders 20

I believe there is a possibility that the Warren County School District will have 3 open jobs by the new year. Coach Howard at Greenwood, his youngest son is a SR, wouldn’t be shocked to see him step away. Rumor mill is that Warren Central Coach Harness may be on to greener pastures, and then the Warren East job of course. Should be a very interesting cycle, curious to see the names that start popping up.

I’ll take the Purples. Was surprised to see Franklin County throwing the ball around the way they are with a SO QB, I believe the BG defense will be able to weather the storm and make enough plays to create some stops. Biggest question mark of the season has been this offense, Barber back in the lineup and I expect a Mr. Football type of performance against the Flyers. Purples 34 Flyers 20

Wildcats still without Blake McPherson I assume? He hasn’t played for the last 4 weeks and it’s been noticeable, he was great with the ball but the lack of his defensive presence is what really took a hit for FS. Even with his absence this will be the toughest test Glasgow has had since their early September matchup against Monroe County. It’s been nothing short of a cake walk for the last 2 months, and it’s difficult to improve when you’re not facing much competition but a great test to end the season IMO. Scotties 42 Wildcats 20

Tilghman will roll through Taylor County and John Hardin (or FS, that’s a fun 1st round matchup with Coach Preston and his former Wildcats) but even in the 3rd Round when the matchups go off RPI from Region 1-4 they’ll host Etown, possibly Logan County or maybe even Spencer County? Not sure how much the Flyers will drop in RPI if they lose to BG but I’m sure Tilghman won’t move anywhere after they walk the dog against Christian County. It’s setting up nice for the Blue Tornado again this year, just a matter or not if they can execute, all the talent in the world.

Senior Night in Logan County (7-1) as the Cougars host the Warren East Raiders (2-6) in both team’s final district game of the season. I don’t expect this one to be competitive, no sense in giving a breakdown on the game. See a lot of scoring happening for the home team and not many positives on either side of the ball for the away team. I do want to point out that Logan County will travel to South Warren next Thursday 10/30, do I think it’ll be competitive? No, but I was awfully wrong in my preseason prediction of this team when their SR QB decided to transfer out. Caught myself again underestimating Coach Adler’s ability to understand his roster and put them in the right situations to be successful, just a phenomenal job. Would have my vote for Coach of the Year right now without a doubt. Cougars 56 Raiders 14

If that was truly the reasoning behind it I’m sure Coach Dantzler’s choice of words may have been worthy of a dismissal in some individuals eyes. I only say that because I remember this sort of situation happening in my playing days and let’s just say the ol ball coach got a lil colorful with his language and was clearly heard by everyone within ear distance. Granted we were winning football games so it was a slap on the wrist though I’m sure he caught some fire for it, but we see this happening more often as of late. Have to know your audience and understand there is always someone watching and they may not want what is best for you, just waiting for any moment that you slip up to justify their motives.

Rooting for Coach Preston and those Bulldogs, what a great win on the road against an undefeated Taylor. Really big game here, don’t think I’d want to play on the road at Logan to open the playoffs, would much rather get Calloway at home and then host the Cougars in round 2.

I was shocked the way the Cougars held the Dragons this past Friday. Not that I believe Central to be world beaters but I thought their skill group would be able to exploit some matchups and they just couldn’t. Know Hanshaw couldn’t of been let go for performance, he is an extremely talented athlete, if I had to make an assumption I’d say he was a terror in the locker room and probably caused some kind of mutiny against the coaching staff within the players. Bowling Green on the other hand, I won’t rib them for playing the Gators within 3 points, the defensive gameplan that Coach Chaffin had put together gave the Freshman Davis fits all evening. This is a perfect game to set up an end of the year showdown with the Flyers, get the rhythm going again, but can I see some better tackling? Would love to see that Jungle D come back alive, the offense has struggled and they’ve been hearing it all season but the physicality and intensity of the Purples D has been lacking and if the hopes are still a trip to Lex they’ll have to pick it up. Happy early Birthday @TilghmanPride maybe the Blue Tornado can pitch a shutout against those Lakers as a gift to you. Logan Smith for Calloway County is a pretty good player, over 1k on the ground with 16 TD’s already (5 of those were against Warren East.) I don’t expect this one to be close and similar to last week for PT, dominate and move on to the next. Another situation where I’d be concerned if the Lakers score a couple of TD’s, night and day differences on the rosters. Coach Lewis may have a few things up his sleeve that he can scheme up but I don’t think it’ll matter at all. Blue Tornado 48 Lakers 6

Think you’re being a little harsh on the Gators. They have a pretty good football team, but I do agree the brand of football the Purples played tonight isn’t State championship caliber.

The Gators really came to play but the Purples resilience at the end is why they’ve been a top tier program in the State for quite a bit of time. Chaney should’ve been more involved earlier in the game but maybe keeping him fresh after a physical 1H was the best idea, he ran rampant in the 2H. I wouldn’t scrutinize the 4th down call from Howard but personally with the way the defense was playing I have a hard time not punting the ball away and going to OT. Make them drive the field, either way it was a great game, they deserve to host a playoff game this year.
