This is going to sound crazy but IMO the offense looked better when Hampton left the game. I don’t know if it’s that the play calling gets more predictable with Hampton in the game or what. But Green scored a rushing touchdown and a receiving touchdown after subbing in the game. Green isn’t the break away threat Hampton is but he may be quicker in those 4-5 yard bursts.

It was alleged Mr. Green was on his job last week….we shall see….

I think this game will be decided by less than 7 points either way. Does anybody know if the Red Devils recent transfer from Castle High School(Indiana) will play Friday night? He could make a big difference on defense.

I’m going Apollo as team 3. They return the Powers kid at guard and the tall center. Plus they just got an international kid to transfer in. Supposedly a 6’5 guard. D1 caliber kid.

If the QB for OHS is running for his life all game then this one will be close.

I didn’t want to rain on the Apollo supporters in the pre season but I really didn’t see where the hype was coming from. I thought Board was far and away their best player last year and with him graduating I didn’t see anyone on the roster replacing his production.

Yes! I figured we’d score bringing back what we did on offense. I was concerned about the defense but they have looked really good so far. Just got to get healthy and stay healthy and we’ll be pretty good.

#6 Shemwell made a helluva play fighting off the blocker and making the tackle. Followed by a nice play by #2 Ashley!

I think I’m one of the hardest fans to impress out there when it comes to the play of the Red Devils. But there were some things to be excited about tonight. From what I’m hearing OHS was missing at least 4 starters in this scrimmage. The QB was making his first varsity start. And the O-line, who was a big question mark coming into tonight’s scrimmage, played a pretty solid game overall IMO. And we all know what type of program Mayfield has so it wasn’t like it was some cupcake on the field tonight. Does this mean OHS is favored to win 5A?!?! Not at all. I think they’re ranked around 4th or 5th in the preseason 5A rankings by Maxpreps. And that’s about where they should be. It’s a long season but if the Devil’s stay healthy they will be a tough out for anyone in 5A in the playoffs. As far as the future….the kids that did most of the damage tonight for Owensboro were underclassmen. The QB’s a Junior. Wide Receiver #5 scored two TD’s. He’s a Sophmore. Wide Receiver #25 scored a TD. He’s a freshman. The DB’s that had INT’s will return. The inside LB #2 has multiple D1 offers. He’s a Junior. There’s nobody as good as Evan Hampton waiting to run the ball in the future but Owensboro, like Mayfield, has rarely wanted for quality running backs. Both programs will be fine.

Good game to the Owensboro defense. I know Mayfield was missing their QB but the Red Devil’s starting defensive unit was impressive.

I don’t know what happened with these two young men but it seems to be that Kentucky only has this issue. Indiana’s kids seem to always show up for this game.

Hearing that Micheal Acton may be leaving Owensboro for Daviess County.

I’ve heard Rajon Rondo’s name mentioned here. Anybody else heard that? Or is that just wishful thinking??

I consider our district to be weak overall. It’s nowhere near as tough as the old 3A district Owensboro was in with Bowling Green, Warren Central, Franklin-Simpson, Greenwood, Logan County, & Warren East.

Yeah I think it was more about the trip than the opponent. Over the years we’ve usually scrimmaged very strong programs.
