I mean it isn't that big of a deal if a region still hasn't been completed. You just set the date for the Sunday (or whatever day) after most regional tournaments are complete. It wouldn't be any different in travel setup, maybe a day or two (depending on when the championship normally is), and the preparation time would probably be more fair. Especially this year, where tournament dates are all over the place due to the boys tournament being so late.

I vote to do it after the regional tournaments are complete. Teams, coaches, and communities get together to watch it, almost like a "Selection Sunday" feel.

It sounds crazy, but that final quarter from Mahomes was a huge benefit to his legacy. In 10-20 years when the "G.O.A.T." discussion is still going on (it will never end), people will go look back at box scores. 257 yds with 3 TDs and 2 int. is a solid stat line, the box score doesn't show that 75% of that was when they were down 34-0.

Nolin is one of the best scorers in the region only as a sophomore. He has a great frame, moves well, and is incredibly smooth with the ball in his hands. This team has an incredible youth. They will only be graduating 5.7 ppg this upcoming May, with their two leading scorers (combining for 37.9 ppg) both being sophomores. Might be getting ahead of myself, but they could be a legitimate threat to the region here in the next two years.

I was just about where the tournament was this year. It being at South gives them a major advantage. Those kids have taken a lot of shots in that gym, we will see if it pays off come tournament time. I still expect that game to be close, but the Dragons should scoot by with hopes of knocking off North Oldham for the championship.

What in the world?! WV is as up and down as it can get. If they get hot at The Roy they could shock a few people.

Cards with a much-needed bounce back. Officially gets them back into second place, winning the tie-breaker over Clemson. It will take one upset to win the ACC Championship, and if it's done they could possibly sneak into a three seed.

I was about to comment the same. They aren't even considered a threat to win the region, yet they are still ranked in the top 25. At some point, it is not all about the level of talent you have on the roster...

Simon Kenton has just as good of a shot this year as they did last year... and in other years past. They have a very solid core group and some great role players to follow. I would not be surprised if they pulled it off this year.

In terms of North Oldham, they had Roberts, Higdon, and Anderson all graduate. Neil and Fisher were not big names by any means until they became the star guys in their senior year. Now onto this year where yet again had no players really on the radar, and the top team in the region. Spencer County graduated their three best players last season, losing the core of their regional championship team. Yet again, the Bears have a legitimate shot to win it again after no one had them on the radar. At what point is it talent development rather than "having the guys"? Being competitive year in and year out is impressive, especially after losing a vast majority of your core group in one year. How coaches respond to that is what separates the good from the greats, and these two coaches have done just that.

I would say it's probably one of the two, but a dark horse for this title is Jason Burns. Year in and year out Burns finds a way to compete with every team in the region no matter how much larger their population numbers are. Coming off a regional championship and losing a vast majority of their offensive contributions, Spencer County was not considered a threat to win the region. However, we just turned the page in the calendar to February, and they are right back into the competition with a chance to cut down the nets at The Roy in back-to-back seasons.

The win doesn't necessarily surprise me either, the margin blows me away. Just for context...... Ryle loses to South Oldham by 6 Ryle loses to North Oldham by 30 Ryle only beats Grant County by 6 Ryle loses to Cooper by 14 SK beats South Oldham by 12 SK loses to North Oldham by 12 SK beats Grant County by 30 SK loses to Cooper by 10 If this game was a double-digit win, I would have said based on prior scores it would have been Simon Kenton coming out victorious. That being said, Ryle has a very nice squad and could be a dark-horse to pull off an upset or two in the 9th.

I voted too early before I read the last few names. Sam Elsbernrd has my vote. The Holmes program has been down and out the last few years. Going in and rebuilding that team is something special, we should only expect it to continue growing!

I think we are starting to get a three-headed race going. North Oldham, South Oldham, and Simon Kenton. Potentially Walton-Verona, depending on their game with SK this Friday.

If you can not control your team long enough to complete 32 minutes of basketball, should you really be coaching them?

Boy, do you have your hands full this year. The 8th Region is as open as it has ever been, anyone on any given night! Woodford County (as always) is the biggest question mark this year. Not playing anyone in the region, I do not blame your low ranking. I love the Oldham County bump. Their progression throughout the year has been constant. Do not be surprised if they pull off an upset to get them in the regional tournament...

The last 4 pages have been a copy and paste of one another... a couple of people from each side arguing the same points as before, then a final "no one knows or will know" to send it on to the next page. I keep clicking on here hoping for some fireworks and continue to be let down ?

100%. I was pretty confident at the beginning of districts knowing the 2-3 teams that have a shot at playing in Rupp Arena that March. This season, however, I won't even have my 2-3 teams selected until the completion of the regional semifinals lol. Absolute craziness without a doubt. I would say there are 5 legitimate contenders right now, with 2-3 more outsiders capable of making a special run. The wildest part of it all is that 4 teams have their eyes set on the 30th District Championship, and all 4 have the potential to do so!

Henry County continues to impress. Baylor Nolin has a legitimate for being a top-5 player in the region. Owen beats Henry, Gallatin beats Owen (in the district seeding game), and Henry beats Gallatin. The 31st might be more interesting this postseason than we thought.
