I think the pitch clock was really a no-brainer for MLB executives. Their sport was on a tragic decline in followers and viewership, and had to find some sort of way to begin attracting new fans. Almost every non-baseball fan will say "it is boring to watch" or "it takes too long" when asking them why they do not follow the sport. Ultimately, the MLB was in a very rough spot and basically had to option other than speeding the game up. The replay is a mixed perspective from me. I do believe that the MLB is one of the smoothest replay systems in sports today. There aren't excessive ones in each game, and the process of doing it doesn't feel like ages. However, I do believe that the display of sports world would be a lot better off without it. While saying this, with all of the different social media posts, the refs would be to blame almost every single close game because of a missed call. It feels that the replay system is to try and take some of that blame off officials, and encouraging more to officiate.

Feels like a year since I have seen NCAA basketball LOL.

This is a great idea, do you have any clue how many regions do these sorts of things?

We are ramping up... it is almost time for the playoffs. Who do you all have making it out of these tight races?

I was thinking the exact same thing. My only other thought would be like the beginning of January, but them you run into problems with the weather, and players not wanting to play in their off-season. I believe that the time it is at right now is the best possible place, with just one change. Why don't they work around March Madness? If I were to guess, tonight's viewer numbers will be double that they have had all tournament. Granite, it is the championship. But personally I have gotten caught up in the 1st and 2nd rounds of March Madness and haven't watched the last couple games that the U.S. played. I did get the opportunity to see the end of that great Japan vs Mexico game last night. But, if they were to start actual tournament play of the WBC last night then they would've had a ton more viewers than they had over the weekend.

YES, I believe this would be the only way to get everyone on board.

I believe (no I am not sure) that it is just a simple button on a single little controller. I am not 100% sure on that though.

How much postseason did you watch? It happened way too often later in many games.

These are some great points. This was my exact same mindset just a short time ago until I really began to dig into it. I just covered my viewpoint on the "less-talented" teams pulling off upsets in the comment above. I still think we could see them, just maybe not as often. But with that would come a lot better overall product that we watch. The bad shot idea, I 100% understand. I feel that this is where the less talented teams would hurt the most. They will not have the college-level athleted to just produce their own shot, and you could see a bigger product of bad shots. However, that could be where coaching comes into play. Coaches will need to draw up some quick-hitter plays to avoid those bad shots late in shot clocks. I do not really take the "prepare them for college" aspect into consideration at all. I do not feel that these college-level athletes would have any issue adjusting to this when they move onto the next level. This side of the argument is practically pointless in my eyes, it won't affect those kids as much as many think. The physical and money stand-point of it is 100% one of my concerns, and my main reasoning behind thinking we will not see a shot clock in Kentucky anytime soon. However, I do not feel that it is a reasoning to be against it, rather than a reasoning to believe that we will not have it brought into the game. The stall-ball is my main issue with all of this. People bring up the point "just guard better". The issue is, stall ball only really helps the more athletic teams. We see this in tournament play numerous times. The better team gets up, and begins stalling just to try and win the game. The less-athletic teams can not apply enough pressure on these better teams without giving up wide open layups. The guards are able to create more space and break the counts to avoid turnovers. Overall, I see both sides of this topic very clearly. Like I mentioned before, I have been on both sides in just the last few years.

This is a very fair point, and I used to think the exact same thing. However, how are we seeing these HUGE upsets in March Madness (FDU over Purdue for example) when there is a shot clock in college basketball.

Just curious, what is your reasoning behind being completely against it? I used to have this same viewpoint, but my mindset on it has changed drastically over the last couple years.

People will show up and watch games no matter what, that is why I wouldn't say that it HAS to be in the game, but I definitely believe it would make it more pleasing to watch. Especially at the regional and state level.

$4,100 could be pocket change for some schools, but is an absolutely not doable for many small county schools. It could be done with some fundraising, but why should they have to volunteer their time for a rule mandated?

But who says it isn’t broken?

I’d say that possession towards the end where they killed over a minute of the clock was extremely beneficial. The points you make a very valid, and stalling is not easy. However, when you get towards the state level you have the athletes and ball handlers that make it extremely hard for the opposing team to stop their stalling tactics. I feel that in my opinion it’s not too crucial in an average high school regular season game, but once you get towards the end of regions and state it is hard to stop it.

Now that the season is over, let’s get a good conversation going. In my opinion, after watching this week of basketball a shot clock is definitely needed at the high school level. However, while saying this I do not believe that it will ever be put in place, and there are many reasons for that. 1. Money. If you are to require a shot clock, you will have to demand every single school to buy a shot clock, and then pay someone to put it in. There are many smaller schools that are on a very tight budget and can not fund this. 2. Workers. Heck, we can never find people these days to do book or clock, how are we going to find a 3rd person to run the shot clock? Along with this, they have to really know the rules of the game. Running a shot clock would arguably be the hardest position at a scorers table, I’m not sure that the KHSAA could trust some school to do this accordingly. What do you all think?

The amount of times this has went through my had the last few days is insane LOL.

I’m sure KHSAA is behind the scenes not too happy about the outcome. WOFO in the championship means a ton more money brought in for the championship game tonight.

This game feels like it’s all GRC. Sure doesn’t feel like Freddy D is within single digits. They need a quick push here early in the 3rd quarter to gain some momentum. I’ve felt that GRC has controlled the tempo and momentum entirety of nearly every game they’ve played in this tournament. Freddy D will have to change that if they want a shot at the title tonight.

What a game! I wasn’t sure if Woodford County was going to be able to keep up, but they never backed down. Just didn’t have the dawgs towards the end. Warren Central is going to be a very tough out tonight.
