Newport Central Catholic 47 Bellevue 6
NewCath makes the short trek to Bellevue to take on the Tigers this Thursday. NewCath coming off running a clock on Dayton while Bellevue hanging tough with Newport last week 0-6. Who you taking in this one?

Bishop Brossart 21 Ludlow 20
He’s the absolute best at it!

Newport Central Catholic 49 Dayton 8
Passing along from a friend: I have never seen a running clock happen so quickly. Complete domination. Dayton players flying all over the field against their will. Might not be too wise to (insert word or act that rhymes with miss) on NCC’s new field and film themselves doing it. NewCath could have easily scored 100 if they wanted to. No amount of injuries or ineligible players were changing the mud stomping that occurred. Best of Luck to Dayton the rest of the year.

Dayton at Newport Central Catholic Predictions/Updates (at Dixie)
Hopefully have everyone back and healthy come playoff time. Jr RB Brooks is one heckuva lead blocker for Bivens…need him back.

Dayton at Newport Central Catholic Predictions/Updates (at Dixie)
Dayton (2-5) comes into Friday night’s matchup at Dixie after being shut out at home by Bellevue. NewCath (3-4), meanwhile, is looking to climb back to .500 after handling Newport in a turnover-filled rivalry game that marked the program’s 26th straight win over the Wildcats. Kickoff is set for 7 PM.Dayton is going to have to create turnovers and slow the Thoroughbred Bivens and Co. down if they want to keep it close. Who you taking?

What position will Tayden Lorenzen play in college?
Whatever he prefers to play will dictate the level at which he plays. The kid is a matchup nightmare at the hs level. IMO, It’s his mindset and effort level that will likely decide his position at the college level. His Dad was an athletic freak in an OL body. I wish this kid nothing but success at any level. As for the high school level, get him touches and stack dubs…

Covington Holy Cross at Bishop Brossart Predictions/Updates
Would love to hear your take on the different styles. What style does Brossart match up well against in your opinion? What does Brossart do (in your welcomed opinion) to beat Holy Cross this Friday? IMO, if Brossart can match physically, they might have a shot.

Beechwood vs. St. Henry Prediction/Updates
I too am interested to see how that all plays out!

Beechwood vs. St. Henry Prediction/Updates
Great question. I think they will only meet if they are in the same district within that time frame. I do not see St Henry becoming a NKY powerhouse within that timeframe(which would lead CC to put them on the schedule) but I do see them becoming more competitive than say a Brossart program did when you can compare beginnings.

Beechwood vs. St. Henry Prediction/Updates
My thoughts exactly. I just hope both teams come out with a ton of experience and no injuries.

Newport vs. Newport Central Catholic (at Dixie)
If NewCath comes out and plays their A game, It's another running clock. If they come out like they did earlier in the season, I could see it closer. Turnovers can haunt in games like these.

Conner at Dixie Predictions/Updates 10/9
Have seen Conner play, they looked like world beaters against a team that was still figuring a lot out. I would not be surprised to see a good, close game.

Newport vs. Newport Central Catholic (at Dixie)
No. Original timeline was this week to be the first game played on it. Man, that would have been phenomenal for the whole city. I think now, if they can even get a chance to practice on the field this year it would be a success. Last I heard, completion set for some time in December.

Newport vs. Newport Central Catholic (at Dixie)
The battle of the Fireman’s bell kicks off Friday when Newport takes on NewCath. NewCath has won the last 25 years straight. Newport coming off a bye while NewCath imposed a solid running attack last week to best Campbell Co. Seems like NewCath may be figuring it out just at the right time. Who you got in this one?

Newport Central Catholic 28 Campbell County 21
Exactly. Refs got the “ re kick” wrong. Just own it and move on. Now….how about those grinding drives?? curious how many possessions CC had in the second half? T.O.P. had to be rather lopsided. When a 1A beats a 6A, just hits a lil bit different.

Watch the hudl, you can clearly see the kid take a knee and get hit while down. That’s what I assumed the penalty was. I don’t understand how a defenseless penalty was called. Looked like a very hard (but clean) hit.

Agree to disagree. We covered the ball. The play doesn’t stop when a penalty occurs. NCC deserves an apology from the crew imo. You’re allowed to have yours.

Reading previous responses after my comment. If the flags were thrown because of “defenseless” and not on the kid who took a knee..I may be inaccurate. But no coach would choose to have the opposing team rekick. That’s laughable, and witnessing Lickert’s reaction….he was never given a choice.

Fan perspective: CC tries an onside with roughly 23 seconds left. NC clearly covers the ball. After the player took a knee, there was a dead ball personal foul called on CC for blatantly hitting well after the NC player recovered and took a knee. Multiple refs threw a flag. White hat signals personal foul. Instead of giving NC the ball and tacking on the penalty, they actually assess the penalty (back CC up) and allow CC to rekick, and give them another chance to recover their own kickoff. I won’t claim to know every single rule, but how does a team commit a personal foul penalty and get another chance to recover an. onside kick? People in the stands were going wild and imo rightfully so. I hope someone owns the mistake and at least apologizes. disclaimer: I have absolutely no idea the explanation given to Lickert on the sideline…but judging his reaction…if he could have thrown a flag”BS” flag on the refs…he would have.

Refs totally goofed up the end of the game. They know it. I hope they own it to whoever they need to. Breds controlled the ball and sustained long drives the entire game. Hard fought by both teams. If NC doesn’t turn ball over twice inside CC 20…the game is not as close as it was.

Why does Newport Catholic not have their own football field yet?

Covington Catholic at Highlands Predictions/Updates
Everyone on God's green earth should be expecting the staff of HHS to get the ball in Lorenzen's hands, more than 7 times a game...in their only loss...staff included.

Covington Catholic at Highlands Predictions/Updates
Man...that's what my gut is telling me too. Seems like HHS is still trying to figure themselves out. As for the ego and pride comments earlier in this thread...It is very common for younger coaches to fall victim to those. Gaining experience getting humbled is the biggest equalizer IMO. Now that's not an indictment on the young coach on my behalf, just an overall comment. HHS has a lot of talent to try and appease. That place has certainly earned the reputation of not being the easiest place to coach with all the "opinions" people like to throw around. Gonna be a great atmosphere on Friday and looking forward to all the opinions post game. ?
