Dayton (2-5) comes into Friday night’s matchup at Dixie after being shut out at home by Bellevue. NewCath (3-4), meanwhile, is looking to climb back to .500 after handling Newport in a turnover-filled rivalry game that marked the program’s 26th straight win over the Wildcats. Kickoff is set for 7 PM.Dayton is going to have to create turnovers and slow the Thoroughbred Bivens and Co. down if they want to keep it close. Who you taking?

I took NewCath. While the Breds record doesn’t reflect it, they have grown tremendously with the schedule they’ve played. Lloyd is top ten in 3A, Beechwood is #1 in 2A, and Raceland is Top 5 in 1A. Take care of the ball this week and the score should reflect that.

Good luck to both teams.

How healthy is the Breds now?

From what I gather pretty close to 100%. If either team last week would’ve had zero turnovers, I could give you a better assessment but each team had 5 so it’s hard to.

Pulling for Dayton as always, but NCC will be too much for them. Dayton has grown in positive ways since last season but they are challenged mightily on defense and the OL. Bellevue really showed this, especially as last Friday’s game went on. Good luck and health to both teams.

Hopefully have everyone back and healthy come playoff time. Jr RB Brooks is one heckuva lead blocker for Bivens…need him back.

While I fully expect this to be a NewCath victory — possibly even with a running clock in the second half — I can’t help but wonder how the Newport–NewCath game would have played out if #4 Barber had been in the lineup. I'm not sure why he didn't play (possibly an injury?), but that’s a question that could be answered if these teams meet again in the playoffs.

NewCath’s front line has really come along, and it's made a noticeable impact on both their passing and run game.  Bivens is fun to watch when he is in his zone.  Stevie had a great game and seems to be more and more around the ball and involved.

Barber was indeed out with an injury.  Not sure if it is a long term type or he will be back.  Yes he is definitely the one that makes the offense go.

Barber was out with an injury as stated, but from what I've heard it is not long term. Kid is a play maker.

Glad to hear that a great kid and a really good play maker.

Ouch.

42-8 NewCath halftime

I pretty much expected an easy win for NCC.
