The battle of the unbeatens happens this Friday night as undefeated Bourbon County makes the trip to undefeated Lloyd Memorial. The winner of this game might end up the division winner. Early prediction I know! I understand that Bourbon had an emotional win Friday night, and my heart goes out to the young man and his family. A 28-0 win over Henry County was huge. Bourbon County has a quarterback that can do it all on both sides of the ball. Lloyds defense will have their hands full on defense. However, Aiken had a young man with great skills and speed as well and the Jugg's did a pretty good job handling him but did have a few break downs. I hope they learned from that, or it could hurt them in this game. I feel Lloyd just has to many athletes for Bourbon to leave with the win. It will be a somewhat close one, but Lloyd will wear them out in the long run. 35-21 Juggs win. There you go  @Honey Badger what are your thoughts? Looks like it will be another great night of football so look for dirty Mike and the boys at the tailgate. 

I am taking the Juggs and hopefully we get a picture of the mean woman that runs Dirty Mike's life.

The Juggernauts come into this one feeling like they are The Greatest Show On Turf. While the Colonels feel like they are The Baddest Dudes On Earth. Both teams can make those claims rightfully so with the way they have handled business so far making their opponents look like less than average Joe's.

6-0 vs 6-0 not much more we needs to know. There is a few interesting details that come to mind for the makeup of this one though.

The boyz from "The County" are led by Tyquan Rice. A true competitor who has led his teams with aspirations of nothing but getting better. He left a Paris High School football team that he had got back on track by putting the whole program on his back. But he didn't feel like the school system gave him the support he needed for the betterment of his student athletes. What a statement to make to travel just a couple minutes down the road. Where he has taken over another program that was going through some worst of the lows. 

In his first 6 games at the helm they have already won as many games as Bourbon had combined to win in the past 3 seasons which is no small feat. I say that is due to a few reasons: 1. The young men in "The County" believe in the man in charge. 2. The man in charge believes in the young men in "The County". 3. Rice flat out knows how to coach football. If you ask me, that's a winning recipe.

The QB is Malachi Rennie and he is the real deal. He has been nothing short of impressive. He gives his team a chance in any game he plays in. Averaging close to 250 yards and over 3 TD's per game combined through the air and on the ground, just by himself. The kid knows how to make it happen one way or another. He also leads his team in tackles and interceptions. He has legit playmakers around him in Bryson Carr and Jacob Ezell. Their whole team plays with fire and emotion. They play with confidence like they expect nothing but dominance. 

Kyle Niederman is no slouch though. A true leader of young men himself but he would never take all the credit. He has showed what it takes in Erlanger/Elsmere to build consistency and for a schools name to hold some merit. 6-0 for the first time in 2 decades he knows W's can not be taken for granted. It has to be rewarding but he knows now is not the time to sit back and enjoy it. After years of playoffs wins him and his team know the bigger assignment. He lacks no confidence in his fellow coaches or the players around him. How could he? With the best QB in Northern Kentucky, Kaleb Evans.

Through the visor, the look in his eyes is that of a survivor. Calm, cool and collected he is a smooth operator that has big desires. He has been down bad but still found a way to make it to the top again. He believes in his teams work, those 6am Jugg Warrior sessions. He is a baller who let's his play do the talkin. He could care less about stats even though he can spin it with the best. He expects nothing but a win. With a distinct goal buried deep in his chest. Earning a district title is the first part of the test. Bourbon County stands in the way and Evans knows that his boyz are always going to bring the heat when its time to play.

It's only week 7 but there is no doubts about it. This game belongs to the eventual 3A District 5 champion.

I might have to make my way to Cecil Dees Field to watch this one in person, Highlands and Cov Cath will play again later this season.

A long time ago I once asked someone about Erlanger. And I'll never forget how they responded. They said " it's the Paris of the Midwest but if your coming north up 75 don't blink or you might just miss the exit."

What???

I think they meant that as a compliment to the city??

Lloyd started 7-0 in 2023. Prior to that, their last 6-0 start came in 1995 when they won 12 in a row before falling to Breathitt County in the state quarterfinals.

Good catch lol. I didn't even have time to correct myself. Things have been good recently even when they haven't been 6-0. Fun group to observe. I don't think they have come close yet to playing their best. That could be scary.

Ironically, in 23' they beat Bourbon County in Erlanger 47-6. 10-2 that year. Lost to East Carter in the second round on a field that was sloppy like a pig pen.

 

This season's BoCo is a great story in of itself, but they have feasted on cupcakes. However, the last coaching staff may have only gone 2-4 against this same schedule, so I understand the hype on the Hill.

Lloyd as been feasting on cupcakes too so we might as well call this the Cupcake Bowl.
