That was 5 seasons ago. They've still been one of the best teams in MLB and in the LCS every year. Maybe they're just good.

I always have mixed feelings when things like this are brought up. I understand that people need to make a living. But almost any educator and admin you talk to tell you it's all about the kids. The kids would benefit from consolidation and access to more and better resources. If it's about your pocketbook and not the kids, look for a different line of work.

That game was fun. We were at Wooten field at like 7:30 or 8 in the morning putting saw-dust down to try and soak up some of the massive puddles that had formed all over at CovCath. If I remember, Highlands even showed up with massive mats or tarps to roll out on their sideline to try and keep mud to a minimum.

I hate to see this for the kids and the community. For the past 2+ decades, I have had a fondness for Bellevue football. I am a 1990 grad of Covington Catholic. Brian Williams was my classmate, teammate and friend. When he passed in the WTC attack on 9/11, it added a mark of sadness to the fear most of us felt on that day and the subsequent weeks. That Friday, 9/14, Bellevue was one of the few teams that decided to help people get back to normal and held their game (vs Danville.). As part of my job at the time, I was sent to cover that game. The coach of the Tigers at the time was Bill Arnzen. As he was on the field, readying his team for the game, he passed and asked how I was doing. I told him I was scared like a lot of people and upset because of Willie. Arnzen said he was sorry and then just said, "Tell me about him." Here was a man trying to do his job and get ready for a game, but he took time out of that to talk to a guy going through some stuff at the time. We spent a good 10 minutes talking about Brian and eventually the upcoming game. He didn't have to do that, but that was the kind of guy he was and the kind of coaches and teachers Bellevue could be proud of. Danville won the game, 58-0, but that didn't really matter. I became a Bellevue "fan" for what happened before the game, not during.

A name I never considered, but was shocked he wasn't actually coaching anywhere, is Chris Peterson. Stepped down from UW and was working in an advisory role and is also doing studio work for FOX. He had great success at Boise State. Wonder if he'd want to get back into coaching?

He's worked in the minor league system in player development and was in serious consideration for the job before "withdrawing his name from consideration" before they hired Bell. I always took that as the Reds wanted him, but not with the team they had.

At least the Nats lost 107 and the A's lost 102. Makes the Reds and Pirates look respectable with their 100 losses.

I've said, since Bell was hired that he'd keep this job until they felt the organization was ready to be a consistent winner for a few seasons. Then Bell would be out and Larkin would be handed the keys to the car.

Companies that own multiple channels do this all the time with Dish, Direct and (insert local cable Co here). All to get a couple extra bucks per subscriber. Disney and the Discovery networks are particularly bad.

Well, they fired five coaches today. Delino DeShields (1st base), Christian Perez (advanced scouting coach), Lee Tunnell (Bullpen), Rolando Valles and Alan Zinter (hitting). Of course their replacements will fare no better if the continue to roll out a Double A team and the MLB level.
