Aaron Judge

All I'm seeing on television is Aaron Judge attempting to hit home runs. College football games were interrupted for every at bat last weekend. Every Yankees/Blue Jays game this week was on MLB Network. Now this:

Is this a bit much? While we've all accepted that late 90s/early 00s home run numbers were tainted by steroids, those guys still actually hit them. And are we naïve enough to think Judge and other players today are clean as whistles?

One reason why.

New York City has 7.5 Million homes.  NYC remains the #1 sports media market.  Companies will be tripping over one another to advertise to all the people who will be watching.

Yeah it’s kinda weird to see the obsession for not actually breaking the HR record.

Pete also makes a good point.

Agree, but at least they're saying the most HR's in the American League.

Agreed.  And that's just the local market.  New York Yankees have a good contingency of tens of thousands of fans in every single media market that has an MLB team.

He'll break Maris's AL record, but who cares.  He's not catching 73.  He's also at what 219 or 220 for his career and he's already 30.   He's not getting to 700 (let alone 762) unless he gets grapefruit pitches the rest of his career.  If he's not a Yankee, this is a non story.

It's a cool story, outside of the 4 or 5 year explosion by Mac, Sosa and Bonds only twice had a player hit 60. I think the break-ins are ridiculous though. If he hits it, break in at the next natural break in the football game and show it then.

Just to vex Yankee fans and the Yankees themselves.  If and when he hits 62, they should place the old * next to it.   Since it is the new AL record, it should be noted that some of those were against NL Teams.  All of Maris's 61 were against AL teams.

Well, you could also say Maris had more games than Ruth.

61* was on the books for a long time.

He finally hit 62* tonight against the Rangers.

My thoughts echo everyone else, Barry Bonds (and others) are ahead of Judge and the break ins during other sporting events got on my nerves.

I am glad the regular season is over so there isn't anymore of it.

Congrats to Judge on becoming the Yankees single season HR king!

When in the hell did we start referencing records by leagues? Only in baseball would you see this tomfoolery.

Quick, somebody tell me the single season rushing TD leader in NFC history? It's Kentucky's own, Shaun Alexander!

Baseball promoting the best player in their game.  I disagree with most that have posted.  I believe it’s something baseball should do more of.
