Easy answer. Spring of 2020 was the last time over 3.000 attended both the semis and the finals at GRC. The finals were pretty much Standing Room Only in the 4,500 seat arena. I also suspect that the attendance of 3,000 was exceeded last spring for the finals of the regional tournament between GRC and Campbell County at the Fieldhouse, which seats 5,400.

I think the view of the 37th District teams promoting having the 10th Region Tournament at Holmes is convenience to the 37th District teams, who are always going to travel to Maysville, Mount Sterling or Winchester, where once every four years it would be a local event for the 37th, even if it has to be conducted at an "off-site" facility. Previous to GRC and MoCo building their basketball palaces, the 10th Region Tournament was always hosted at the Mason County Fieldhouse, who incidentally, did a fine job with it, and no one had a problem with it. It was our annual rite of spring at the Fieldhouse. If and when one of the 37th District teams build a facility comparable to MoCo or GRC, then we have a legitimate claim to host the tournament every four years. Until then, or when BB&K (NKU) can host us, it needs to stay in Maysville.

As an individual and certainly not speaking for Brossart High School, I am dead against hosting the 10th Region Tournament at Holmes High School. There is nothing about Holmes High School, the longtime site of the 9th Region Tournament, that is 10th Region. As good citizens of the 10th Region I am personally all in for having the tournament at the Mason County Fieldhouse, which is centrally located and well-positioned to host the 10th Region Tournament. Back when the 10th Region Tournament was played at the new Bank of Kentucky Center, it made sense, bringing the tournament to this new world-class facility. Were it still available to us, it would still make some sense to host the tournament here - but it is not. Citing travel times, etc., seems somewhat vindictive, and further divides the 37th District from the 10th Region.

I'm sure that would be me and you don't have to go back 20 years. I'm still glad that this was not a Nationally televised prime time game. Baby steps. Burrow is a treasure. After suffering through Dudley all those years, it is nice to have a bona fide championship caliber quarterback and a corps of receivers who can get the job done. Get him some protection on the O-line and it could be fun around here for a few years. We always seem to be on a mountain when we fall. We will see how it goes. Right now I'm happy for those of you who have never had the opportunity to be happy about something like this. Next baby step is to win a playoff game.

Only saving grace is that it is not a Sunday, Monday, or Thursday Night nationally televised game. I'm happy that the Bengals are having a successful season, but we are still not ready for prime time..

Prior to Orlando Donaldson's arrival at Calvary, dating back to 1998-99 the Cougars had never beaten Brossart nor Scott, two of the other members of their district. Campbell County being the other, who has to date remained unscathed.. Since Coach Donaldson arrived for the 2018-19 season, the Cougars have defeated one or the other ever since. They beat Brossart during the 2018-19 season, Scott during the 2019-20 season, Brossart last year, and here in 2021-22 they have beaten Scott with Brossart remaining on their schedule.

Meyer's consistently huge numbers are amazing. DeSales ain't chopped liver. 43 was our school record for 51 years.

Long before NFHS became video, they replaced I-High as the KHSAA broadcast provider of choice. We we all nearly forced to broadcast via NFHS. If you did you could broadcast (audio) post-season games for free. If you didn't utilize NFHS you had to pay a $250 stipend to do each post-season game. NFHS was also pay-to-listen, with the school and the KHSAA sharing revenue. When NFHS went video, audio in any form in the post-season became free up to and through the regional tournaments. We did have to pay a fee to the KHSAA last year to audio broadcast our girls game in the "Sweet Sixteen." I am soooo glad that we weren't bullied into joining NFHS by the KHSAA and still to this day, broadcast our audio product via Meridix, and formerly EZStream, which allows you to download archives and distribute to your players at the end of the season. When the KHSAA discontinued its contract wiht I-High, I-High took all of the archives with them into cyberspace.

I've been notified by a player involved in the game, that the Mustangs first defeated Campbell County in 1977, when LeRoy Randall was the coach at Campbell County. Steve Ripberger, Steve Havlin, Jim Walerius, and Joe Ritter played on the Brossart team.

Last year our (Brossart) NFHS was acceptable, but both our football/soccer at the MAC, and Volleyball/Basketball in our gym has deteriorated dramatically, to the point of being useless. Our contact continues to work with them to attempt a fix, but so far - Nothing. NFHS is a KHSAA moneymaker.

Utilizing a new tool available on Riherds (KHSAA) scoreboard, it shows Campbell County leading Brossart 24-16 in all games played, including the former Mason County Invitational Tournament as well as District tournament competition. These records go back to December 6, 1997. I sincerely doubt that Brossart owned many wins over the Camels previous to that, which would have all come in district play. Prior to Willie Schlarman's arrival at Brossart, I can only remember us playing in two regional tournaments - these would have occured when Brossart drew Silver Grove in the first round of the district and went as District runners-up. Prior to Willie arriving at Brossart, we had never won a regional tournament game.' Perhaps Mel Webster might know the overall all-time record between our schools, but I kind of doubt it.

I'm sure that Campbell County won the vast majority of the games played between the two teams prior to the formal creation of the "Crosstown Classic." While we were members of the NKIAC (prior to in 1990-91) and from 1990 through 1996-97 before we upgraded from NKAC DivIII to DivII, I'm not even sure that we played each other in the regular season, but only in the district tournament.. I'm thinking the first time we beat Campbell County was in the district tournament, where we have always shared membership in the same district.

The Brossart-Campbell County regular season game officially became the Alexandria Businessmen's Crosstown Classic during the 1998-99 season, played at the Campbell County Middle School on an annual basis until last year when it was moved to the CCHS campus in Claryville, due to the Covid pandemic. Brossart won 7 of the first 9. Campbell County has now won 6 of the last 10. The Campbell County Camels evened the Alexandria Crosstown Boys Classic Series at 12-12 with a 62-43 win over Bishop Brossart at the Campbell County Middle School Saturday night. Neither team was able to score in the first five minutes of competition, with the Mustangs holding a 7-5 advantage at the end of the period. The Camels used four 3-pointers in the second period to put 21 points on the board, with the Mustangs only able to counter with 9, giving the visitors (Brossart was the home team) a 26-16 lead at halftime, and then salted it away with another 22 points in the third quarter, stretching their advantage to 48-31 after three. Both teams liberally exercised their benches in the final stanza, as the Camels went on to win 62-43,' Camel Junior Aydan Hamilton scored his 1,000th point early in the contest and finished with 17 points on the night. Brossart's David Govan led all scorers with 18 on the night. Both players were named their respective team's Players of the Game. Mason Sepate contributed 12 for the Mustangs, and Keegan Hill and Eric Davie netted 11 each for the Camels. The Camels swept the three game series with a 30-19 win over our Freshmen, and ran away from the Brossart JVs by a 60-27 score.

Age old Cincinnati problem. No fear nor discipline in the clubhouse. Lunatics continue to run the asylum, and it shows on the field with senseless penalties. Zac Taylor is a nice (soft) guy by nature and can't be anything else, so he needs to hire someone who will instill some fear and respect into these renegades. This stuff doesn't happen on championship caliber teams. It happens with great regularity here..

Mustangs fall hard to the Harrison County Thorobreds 57-39 on the Hilltop in Cynthiana. After hitting our first shot - a three-pointer by Mason Sepate - Harrison County went o a 10-0 run, which would result in a 17-5 Breds advantage after a period of play. We would be more contentious in the second frame, putting 11 points on the board, yet outscored 15-11, giving the home team the 32-16 halftime lead. Things did not get better for our Mustangs in the second half, as the height and length of the Breds continued to stymie the Brossart offense, resulting in a 57-39 victory, dropping our season record to 2-3, as the Breds improve to 2-2. The Mustangs were led by Junior Mason Sepate who put 16 points on the board, including a trio of 3-pointers. Braylon Hinton led the Breds with 17, and Clay Carpenter added 10. Our Mustangs will host the Red and White Beechwood Tigers on Monday night in Alexandria.

Had the privilege of watching her play in last year's All "A" semi-state, and was extremely impressed. Really nice player.

A Belgian Waffle is a thicker/crisper waffle, whereas the standard Waffle House waffle is flat, and often soggy. A Belgian Waffle has much more body to it, with more pronounced/deeper holes.

I-Hop is one of the few places in Campbell County that serves Belgian Waffles, which makes me a regular. Waffle House serves waffles, but nothing on the scale of I-Hop.

Mustangs rebound from Ludlow loss with a sizable win over Pendleton County in Falmouth. The Cats led 5-4 when the Mustangs went on a 11-0 run to take the lead which would become 22-10 after a period and 41-18 at the half, and that was that. David Govan scored a half-dozen field-goals in the first half, en-route to a 19 point performance, leading nine Brossart scorers that included a 15 point contribution from Logan Woosley. The home team was led by Braydon Kidwell, with 10 oints, their only double-figure scorer. WIth the win the Mustangs even their season record and head to Harrison County on Friday. Pendleton County freshmen win 38-20, and Brossart JVs prevailed 42-27
