  1. Boyle made some major adjustments on defense this week. The o line still needs a little work, but this is looking more like a state contending Boyle team.
  2. I guess we will find out if LCA is better than Lex Cath on Sept. 17. But I have watched both play, and I do think Catholic is overall the better team from what I have seen so far. And my whole point in all of this was that Boyle's defense is majorly struggling. If they can't get it turned around, then in my opinion, they will not beat Lex Cath, or many other teams they have scheduled this season.
  3. So far on the season, Lex Cath has had 75 rush attempts and 52 pass attempts. They have a big bodied running back in Walker Hall, that has ran for 195 of LC's 313 total rushing yards. They also have big, physical receivers. And yes, when you let a team that you know is going to run the ball over and over and you can't stop them, then there is a problem. How do you expect to stop a team that has a balanced offense? All I am saying is there needs to be some MAJOR changes on the defense for Boyle to even win their district. If Friday's defense shows up against LC, then Boyle doesn't have a chance to win that game.
  4. From a string of post I saw on Twitter over this, one reporter stated that he had found a twitter page of Bishop Sycamore's quarterback. It was from when he was unrecruited QB in Maryland and graduated this past May. It now has the same kid as a class of 2023 quarterback at Bishop Sycamore. The "school" is not even approved by Ohio Department of Education. Many people say that all the "kids" on the team are all high school graduated that never got recruited, and trying to get recognition there. After this past weekend and what happened on ESPN, I think if I were JC I would be getting out of this game.
  5. Boyle has a slew of young guys that I think could step up and fill some of these roles. If the job isn't getting done by who is in there, maybe you need to try someone else.
  6. Before Friday night I would say Boyle. But after watching them show an overall lack of defense at all, I will say this will a tough game for them. I hate to say it, but don't county Danville out just yet. The Boyle I watched Friday is a long way from competing for the top spot in the state. They might not even will the district. The defense they showed Friday will have no chance against Lexington Catholic. Defense wins championships, and Boyle doesn't have it.
  7. Previous defensive coordinator. He was a defensive mastermind. True legend. Retired at the end of last season.
  8. Boyle sure is missing Coach Hester this season!
  9. For those that don't know, Coach Reader has passed. Hard for that community since the majority of the team is on covid protocol, and quarantined.
  10. Marion County head coach Rob Reader is battling cancer, and I hear is not doing very well. Reader took the helm at Marion after being at Louisville Moore. This will be the second coach the Knights have watched battle cancer in the last 10 years, with coach Jeff Robbins passing away in 2014. Marion has the week off due to Covid protocols. The Marion County football family, Coach Reader, and his family need all our thoughts and prayers at this time.
  11. I didn't think North looked that bad last night. I just think that SW is that good!
  12. Was really surprised at the amount of people that were rotated in and out at RB. I personally think Bodner was the best RB of the day, and Stone is more of a FB. Don't think Dawson was utilized enough. He was a play maker at Danville, but can't be at Boyle if he isn't on the field. The O-line needs to improve greatly to give Jagger a little more time to find someone and allow the run game to work. Just my take away of the game.
  13. I personally think that is why so many people in Danville are mad about the Clevenger fire and the direction of not only football, but all athletics at DHS. There is no support from admin to let them be build anything. I don't care how good of a coach you are, if you don't have administration support from top to bottom, you will never have a good program. And that is just no longer there at Danville.
  14. Any word out there on when the announcement will come for this position?
  15. Wow! That is a tough schedule. Boyle is going to need some guys to step up to make it through that one.
  16. That was the motto for this year. Yes, Covid probably had a part to play in it. I personally thought was more of a reference to all the doubters. I know this senior class had people tell them the odds were stacked against them and they would never make it back to state let alone win with out Reese Smith, Reed Lanter, Riley Colwick, Landon Bartleson and Wilson Kelly. I know a few of them thought even Coach Smith didn't think they could, or why else would he leave them. Having a new head coach also played a role into it. I mean, how many head coaches win a state championship in their first year somewhere? I really think all of that played into them choosing that motto for the year. Again, just my opinion.
  17. Congratulations to Paintsville! KCD had a great season, I think they were a little overwhelmed by the size and toughness of Paintsville's line.
  18. The community buys in to the program. When you refer to a 3rd grade flag football team as future state champions, it puts that expectation and goal in the minds of those kids. Having a single middle school program that runs most of the same schemes helps. Kids willing to work hard and put in the time to keep the program at top level.
  19. I do not believe Franklin County can win the battle in the trenches, but then again I don't think anyone can against Johnson Central. If Franklin has a shot to win this one, they have to give their QB time to throw the ball and I don't see that happening against JC's line. JC by 3 scores.
  20. While watching the game, I was thinking of how they would match up with Johnson Central. Not that anyone really can match up with Johnson Central's line, but I don't see Franklin's QB having as much time to throw the ball there as he does tonight.
  21. Just looking at the past weeks of 4A RPI, and was wondering if someone could explain this, because I just don't understand. On 10/18 top 5: 1. Boyle .69358 5. Central .62416 On 10/25 top 5: 2. Central .65780 4. Boyle .65016 (Boyle dropped from 1 to 5 after Bourbon County could not play for being a red county) On 10/31 top 5: 3. Boyle .67009 4. Central .64388 (Central did not play that week) On 11/4 top 5: 3. Boyle .67009 (The same after beating a 3-2 5A Madison Southern Team) 4. Central .64388 (Stayed the same after not playing another game) Just curious how Central's RPI doesn't go down after not playing another game. And Boyle's didn't go up, when the other top 5 teams went up, after winning a game. I know that Boyle's OOW is what hurting them right now. But I don't understand how you miss a game, because you are following the guidelines, and drop so dramatically. But another team misses a game and thier RPI ddoesn't go up. Or how Boyle wins a game over a higher class team with a winning record and their RPI doesn't go up at all.
