Marion County's Rob Reader

Recommended Posts

Marion County head coach Rob Reader is battling cancer, and I hear is not doing very well.  Reader took the helm at Marion after being at Louisville Moore.  This will be the second coach the Knights have watched battle cancer in the last 10 years, with coach Jeff Robbins passing away in 2014.  Marion has the week off due to Covid protocols.   The Marion County football family, Coach Reader, and his family need all our thoughts and prayers at this time.

Coach Reader was special teams coach at Pleasure Ridge Park for quite a few years before he headed to Moore to take over as head coach in 2016. The Mustangs were 4-7, 3-7, and 3-7 in the three seasons before Rob started to Moore. His first year there, they improved to 7-4, then 6-5, and Rob won the 2018 KFCA 4A Coach Of The Year award for leading Moore to an 11-2 record that season.

Great coach. He knew how to connect with his players on an extremely genuine, personal level. He knew how to get teenagers to put forth their best efforts on and off the field.

Sad day.
