I think this one could be competitive. But I think ultimately the Admirals are too fast. Danville 35-20.

They almost have the field part under roof. It is supposed to be regulation width and 70 yards long.

They'll get Belfry on the road in round 3, right? I guess that's better than Beechwood on the road in round 2.

Southwestern has the ability to win this game. That being said, I'm unsure if they have the desire to. They had the appearance of a team that is ready to turn in their equipment, and call it a season, on Friday vs Rockcastle County. That was a game that they should have been competitive in. I voted Southwestern, but it will all depend on the effort that they put out.

Washington County, the number 4 seed in District 4, travels to Somerset to take on the Briar Jumpers, the #1 seed in District 4. The Commanders appear to be a little bit better than your average number 4 seed, as they come in with a 5-5 record. Somerset comes in at 9-1, and riding a 9 game win streak. Can the Commanders make a game of this and pull off a rare 4 vs 1 seed upset?

That penalty yardage was for both teams combined. Somerset had 14 penalties for 175 yards, and Hazard had 11 for 128. The post that I got my total from didn't specify that it was the total. But the context of the conversation made me think that the 303 was just on Somerset. It was way over-officiated. Mostly from the back judge. He flagged someone after every touchdown it seemed.

Somerset finished the game with 25 penalties for 302 total yards. That includes a 15 yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for throwing an official's Coke in the trash that had been left on their sideline. He must take his soda very seriously.

If they have anyone that can kick, that was a particularly poor *choice* not to kick it in interesting when it would have won the game.

Outside of the kickoff return for a touchdown, and a couple of long passes, I felt like Somerset largely controlled this game. Good win to finish the regular season 9-1. It looked like both teams came out healthy. Hopefully they can both make a run in the playoffs.

That was some of the worst clock management I've ever seen on the last drive for Bell in regulation. It's like they got the ball down to the 20, and then decided they'd rather play overtime than try and score. And I can't believe a top 5 team in 3A doesn't have anyone that can kick an extra point. Great effort by Pulaski to not give up, but Bell County largely beat themselves.

30 yard field goal for Julian Carroll. Somerset leads 24-14. Not sure on the time in the 3rd quarter.

That was a crazy 2 point conversion. I don't think that's exactly how they drew it up. But it worked.

I don't mind the penalties to keep it from getting too chippy, but the constant conferences are ridiculous. It's taken almost an hour and a half to play 2 quarters.

Somerset stops Hazard on 4th and 2 and takes over on the Bulldogs 40 with 2:02 to go in the 2nd quarter.

Their defense is nowhere near good enough to play with the top 5 in 5A.

Unbelievable catch by Wooldridge on 4th and 22 sets up a 5 yard Kris Hughes touchdown. 21-7 Somerset 4 minutes to go in the 2nd quarter. This refereeing crew is either really bad, or they are really struggling tonight. They aren't homers or anything, but they have a full group conference after every play. No kidding, on that Somerset drive they stopped the clock to have a conference 5 different times.

It's definitely a step up from McCreary Central. MaxPreps has Hazard ranked 69th, and Monroe County tanked 70th. The Falcons had a nice quarterback and passing game. So I don't think Hazard's speed or passing game is going to shock Somerset. The Bulldogs can certainly win, especially at home. But if they do, I don't think it will be because of any jump in competition.

How bad are the defenses that Owensboro has beaten? Scott County has given up 921 yards of offense, and 97 points just in the last 2 weeks.

I just saw that this evening. I had to work Friday night, so I didn't get to watch or listen to the game. They didn't get the stats posted until today. Glad to see him back. He's a difference maker on both sides of the ball. 2 rushes for 45 yards and 2 touchdowns, and went 1 for 1 passing.
