Tomorrow night the Danville Admirals (8-2, 4-1) host their first playoff game since 2022 when they face Green County (7-3, 2-2).  These two teams have not played since September 2016 when the Admirals thumped the Dragons 62-0.  However, Green County did eliminate the Admirals from playoff contention during the 2008 playoffs, which was when Sam Harp was still at the helm.  Danville coach Steve Stonebreaker has made a big deal about his team hosting this first round playoff game, a reward after a hard fought regular season that resulted in the Admirals finishing runner-up in their district to Lexington Christian Academy, one of the title contenders in class 2A.

The key to the Dragons winning the game will be to stop Admirals running back Jayvian Meaux, one of the most impressive freshmen in the state.  Meaux has scored more than 20 touchdowns this year.  The Dragons will also have to watch out for junior receiver Trinden Sellers, who is a threat not only to catch passes but return kicks and punts.

The winner of this game has likely has a date with Somerset (9-1, 4-0) in the second round.

So who wins tomorrow night?

Danville fairly easily.

I think this one could be competitive.  But I think ultimately the Admirals are too fast. Danville 35-20. 

Green County has a dual threat QB that's really good, they also have a nice line. I'll still take Danville 18-14. Danville will score 3 TDs but miss all their extra points. 

Game could end up being close. Green County will be physical and Danville will have to handle that all night. I think Danville wins, but a potential upset game here.

I think this one could be a tight game.  

Admirals take the ball first but only move it backwards five yards.  They have to punt on their own 27 and Green County takes over at their own 30.

Trinden Sellers breaks up a flea flicker and INTERCEPTS the ball, running it all the way down to the Green County 25.

Jayvion Meaux quickly gets on the board with a 25 yard touchdown run.  Admirals draw first blood in this playoff matchup.

Ads opt for 2 after Green County is flagged for offsides.  However, Meaux's run is stopped.

Danville leads 6-0 in the first quarter.

Green County was marching down the Admirals throat with lots of runs but then they fumbled after a completed pass, so the Admirals get the the ball back.
