  • I think Woodford is #1 - I do not think O deserves #1.   I could see Cooper ranked #2 as well as O.  Woodford's offense is stellar, so is Scott County's.  BG played CAL close and has Barber back - tre

Atherton only lost to Manual by 12 so I'm really interested in how they do in the playoffs. I think they will be a tough out because of their defense.

I was just sure O would surpass Woodford after their performance on friday. I guess not…

I hear what you are saying but in hindsight Oboro beat a nobody Friday night. ?‍♂️

That same nobody knocked off the reigning 4A champs. And was ranked top 5 2wks prior to playing O.

I know.  Hard to figure for sure but we both agree Owensboro looks really good.

Scott County lost by a long yard to the #1 team in 5A. They’re separated by 4 spots. Crazily enough, I’m not sure that’s wrong. These games coming up in November will be decided by inches!

I am not an OHS guy but I am in the city of Owensboro and the swagger that program has right know is off the charts. The fans are a little over the top and that’s a good thing. They have an energy that is hard to argue with and I really hope they are able to do something special this year.

Owensboro would beat both Woodford and Scott Co. I know I'm a homer but we would beat them right now.

Hampton is from the Gtown area, wish he played for us! I think it’d be a shootout. Winner is anyone’s guess.

I knew that, but just thinking what could have been. We would still have a very good back but not like what we have now. Very interesting and food for thought.

Had no idea he was from that area. Has been playing for O since 8th grade from my memory. SC definitely missed out on a great 1. Hampton & Emongo in the backfield would be scary to see..

I think Scott County would be a big test for the Devils simply because O isn’t used to seeing that style of play. Which could possibly lead to a shoot out. But the Devils run defense in general is pretty stout. Ask Edge from OC and Mr. Football hopeful Hightower from North..

Atp I’m not sure any defense in 5A can stop this quick hitting offense the devils have right now. They aren’t nearly as predictable as they were under Prince and Fallin. For example this past wk on 4th and 3 O decides to go for it on their own 35 yard line. Under Prince and Fallin you just knew Hampton would get it, so defenses would bring the house. What does Ganaway do, deep ball to Dillard which resulted in a 60 yard TD.

I don't really think that is a given.

Scott Co. has better players, a better offense, and a better defense than anyone Owensboro has beaten. Woodford can say the same.

I would say Owensboro CAN beat Woodford and Scott Co., but not that they WOULD.

I think 1-5 are pretty even with a potential 6th and 7th to be added.

If Atherton lays the wood to North Laurel this Friday, you can go ahead and put them in the mix, and if North Laurel beats Atherton, the same goes for them.

Pulaski can make a point going onto Log Mountain this week as well if they can hand Bell Co. a loss.

One thing is for sure, this is as exciting a 5A race as there has been in a long, long time!

Oh, and once again, the 5A game gets shafted by the State Finals and gets the Saturday night game.

In an alternate universe Ballard from GC is FB, and you have Emongo, Hampton as the two halfbacks. That running attack would be impossible for a high school defense.

Scott County runs their fakes so well even if the running defense is good, they’ll get there big plays no matter who they’re playing.

I don’t see our defense holding well to be honest. It would have to be a high scoring game for us to win based off our run defense the last few weeks.
