13th Region Boys Basketball Week 6: Here’s your week 6 rankings! Rankings: 1. Bell County (12-2) - The Bobcats continue to roll. This week they went 2-0. They absolutely thrashed Whitley County by 36 to win their 2A Section 7. The game was never in doubt. Then they turned around and beat Knox Central by 31. The Bobcats are playing good ball and besides North Laurel, they’re one of the two favorites in the region by far. They open up the 2A against Adair County on Friday, which should be one of the top games in it. The winner of that game will likely make it far. 2. North Laurel (11-4) - The Jags went 2-0 on the week, with a 14 point win over Corbin on the road and a 18 point win over Pulaski County at home. North has solidified themselves as the other favorite of the year. I’m eager to see their game at the end of the year against Bell County, but they have a good chance to possibly run the table coming up with their schedule. This week they play Red Bird, Jackson County, and Lincoln County, all at home. 3. Clay County (10-5) - The Tigers got back to their ways this week going 2-0. Their frist was a very ugly win over OBI on the road by 8, but they rebounded well with a 5 point win at South Laurel to finish up the week. This week they play Perry County Central at home, Harlan on the road, and Woodford County at home in the prestigious Bobby Keith Classic. 4. Whitley County (12-4) - The Colonels went 1-1 on the week. Their first game was disappointing as they were absolutely crushed by Bell County by 36. This game was over before it ever got going. They did rebound nicely with a 3 point win over Madison Southern. We will know more about the Colonel sas they play Williamsburg Tuesday, and then South Laurel at home on Friday. 5. Harlan County (8-5) - The Black Bears went 1-0 this week. After a disappointing loss to Whitley County, they did have a nice win over McCreary Central on Tuesday. They’re a middle of the road 12th region team. This week they have Breathitt County at home on Tuesday, and then Powell County at Clay on Saturday. 6. South Laurel (8-7) - The Cardinals went 2-1 this past week. A really nice 1 point win over Pulaski County at home, was followed with a let down by 5 against Clay at home as well. They did rebound and finish up with a 19 point win over Russell Co at home on Saturday. This week they open up district play with a huge game against Corbin at home on Tuesday. They then go to Whitley County on Friday. These two games will be huge for seeding. 7. Corbin (5-7) - The Redhounds are further away from .500 now after going 0-1 this week. The latest? A 14 point home loss to North Laurel. Things do not get easier with a game on the road at South Laurel to open up district on Tuesday. They also host Williamsburg Friday to end the week. 8. Knox Central (8-5) - The Panthers went 1-2 on the week. A 14 point win over Middlesboro to open the week, was then followed by disappointing losses to Perry County Central by 12 and a 31 point loss to Bell County. These are both bad losses, and the loss to Bell is bad because of the way they were beaten. This week they have a slow week with a game against Middlesboro Friday, and a game against Rockcastle on Saturday. 9. Middlesboro (8-6) - The Yellow Jackets went 1-1 this week. They were crushed by Knox Central, then they killed Red Bird in the All A. Their next game in the All A is tonight against OBI. They finish the week with Knox Central, and then Jackson County. 10. Jackson County (10-5) - The Generals had a decent week going 1-1 but their loss was bad because it was to Harlan. They were beat by 15 by the Green Dragons in the All A. They blew Trinity Christian out on the road. This week they have Williamsburg, North Laurel, and Middlesboro. 11. OBI (5-7) - The Mountaineers went 2-1 with wins over Pineville and Williamsburg. They lost to Clay County. This week they play Middlesboro, Lynn Camp, and Red Bird. 12. Harlan (5-8) - The Green Dragons went 1-0 beating Jackson County by 15 in the All A. This week they play Barbourville tonight in the next round of the All A. They also play Clay County, and Hazard to round out the week. 13. Barbourville (4-7) - The Tigers went 2-0 on the week with a win over Williamsburg and Pineville. This week they play Harlan in the all A, and Pineville Friday. 14. Pineville (7-7) - The Mountain Lions went 1-2 this week. They lost to OBI and Barbourville, but beat Lynn Camp. This week they play Barbourville again, and then Jackson City. 15. Williamsburg (1-12) - The Yellow Jackets went 0-3 on the week losing to Barbourville, Berea, and OBI. This week they play Jackson County, Whitley County, Knoxville Ambassadors, and Corbin. 16.. Lynn Camp (5-11) - Lynn Camp went 0-2 this week with losses to Model and Pineville. This week they play OBI and Frankfort Christian. 17. Red Bird (4-6) - Red Bird went 1-1 this week with a win over Jackson City and a loss to Middlesboro. This week they play North Laurel and OBI.

Fun game to watch. Boyle led for most, Lincoln took the lead in the fourth. Boyle came back and finished it. Good to see them finish on top!

It blew my mind when Highlands lost to Corbin. Felt like talent wise, they were as good as anybody in 4A. Losing all their lineman has to be cause for concern knowing that you have a good shot of playing Johnson Central, Boyle, or Corbin in the playoffs.

Boyles gotta start putting teams away. Against Southwestern, Wayne, and Henry Clay they jumped up big only to see the other team come back and them fade.

2025 was a year that saw the Maroons start to take off. For much of the year, they ebbed and flowed within the top 3-5 of everyones rankings and almost in a way flew under the radar. After a season ending injury to their QB Zak Anderson who was a great player, a lot of people may have wavered on the Maroons. They just kept playing. They won their first four including a nice win over Corbin, lost their next two against Johnson Central and South Warren, but then went on a run that saw them making it to the state championship game. They took down East Jessamine, South Laurel, and West Jessamine to win the region. A lot of people picked against them against Atherton after Atherton ran clock on BG, but they blocked out the noise and routed the Ravens 17-0 in a game that wasn't as close as the final score indicates. They did fall to Owensboro in the state finals by a final of 35-7, but making it is still an accomplishment nevertheless. PC had their banquet last night, and were right back in the weight room this morning as they start the climb back. ? 15th Region Boys Basketball Week 5: Fifth week in the 15th in the books, let's look at it! 1. Pikeville (10-1) - The Panthers finally dropped their first game. They were beaten by University Christian FL by 2. They wrapped their trip up with a 25 point win over Fernandina FL, and then they beat East Ridge by 31. Pikeville is the show horse right now, so we will see if the other teams can catch up. This week they got Shelby Valley on Friday for the next round of the All A. 2. Lawrence County (7-5) - The Bulldogs went 1-1 on the week with a 20 point win over St. Mary, then a 1 point loss to Hopkinsville in the AIT in Double OT. Kaiden Harris had 22 in the win over St. Mary, including five 3’s. This week they have Magoffin County at home on Tuesday for the 2A. 3. Johnson Central (9-2) - The Golden Eagles took care of business this week with a 12 point win over Shroder OH, 8 point win over Shelby Valley, 13 point win over Elliott County, and a 1 point win over Rockcastle. This week they play Betsy Lane at home on Tuesday, then have a big rivalry game with Paintsville at home on Friday. 4. Martin County (7-5) - The Cardinals had one game this week, and it was a 30 point win over Virginia VA. Keathley scored 28 in the win, and Dials had 21. This week things pick up with Paintsville tonight in the All A. That’s all showing so far for this week. 5. Floyd Central (10-2) - The Jaguars went 2-0 on the week with a 33 point win over Eastside VA, and a 4 point win over Lebanon VA. Chris Spriggs put up 17 in the narrow win over Lebanon. Tonight FC plays PCC in the 2A, and then Friday they play at Rowan County. 6. Paintsville (7-6) - The Tigers went 2-1 this week. They lost to Marshall County last Sunday by 14, but had a really nice win over West Jessamine by 14 and then blew out Prestonsburg by 26. I’m really impressed with the win over West Jess because they’re a top 3 team in the 12th. This week Paintsville plays Martin County tonight in the All A which would be a huge win, then they play Phelps on Saturday. 7. Shelby Valley (10-5) - The Wildcats went 4-1 on a very busy week .They beat Huntington Expression prep by 9, Belfry by 9, and Phelps by 10. They did get beat by Johnson Central by 8 though. The Wildcats are putting together a nice year so far. This week they play Pikeville on Friday in the All A. If they could upend them, it would be a huge win for the program. 8. Belfry (6-4) - The Pirates came back down to earth this week going 1-2. They beat East Ridge by 21, but lost to Elliott County by 8 in OT, then Shelby Valley by 9. Carter Jude had 19 in the loss, and Brody Little added 16. I would've liked to have seen them knock off Shelby Valley to show they could compete with the middle of the pack, but they do have a nice win over Floyd Central so I wouldn’t write them off yet. This week they play Betsy Lane tonight in the All A, Mingo Central on Tuesday, and then Scott County on Saturday. 9. Pike County Central (7-4) - The Hawks went 1-2 on the week and slowed down a touch. They beat Webster County by 3 which was nice, but lost to Gatlinburg Pittman and then Whitefield Academy. Freshman Owen Bowman put up 13 in the loss to Whitefield. This week they play Floyd Central in the 2A tonight, and then June Buchanan on Saturday. 10. Betsy Lane (3-7) - The Bobcats went 1-2 this week. They beat East Ridge by 14 which is keeping them in the back of the top ten, but they lost to Elliott County by 8, and Huntington Expression Prep by 10. This week they play Belfry, and Lee County. 11. Phelps (4-8) - The Hornets went 1-1 on the week. They beat Magoffin County by 6 in OT, and lost to Shelby Valley by 10. This week they play Paintsville at home on Saturday. 12. East Ridge (3-7) - The Warriors went 0-3 on the week. This week they are playing TBA on Wednesday.. So we will see who gets put in that slot. 13. Magoffin County (2-9) - The Hornets went 0-1 on the week with a 6 point OT loss to Phelps. This week they play Letcher County Central on Monday, and Lawrence County on Tuesday. 14. Prestonsburg (0-10) - The Blackcats went 0-1 on the week. They got blew out by Paintsville. This week they play East Carter, and Cordia. Cordia would be a great chance to pick up their first win on the year.

13th Region Boys Basketball Week 5: With week 5 wrapping up, I still think it’s a two horse race. Some of the middle of the road teams play each other which will help out how that looks. I’d like to see Bell’s record against North Laurel’s schedule. But you play the games you have scheduled. I think those two are the top two, 3 through 8 are probably region hopefuls, and everything after that is on the outside looking in. We will see how it shakes out after this week! Rankings: 1. Bell County (10-2) - The Bobcats are rolling right now. Boost their winning streak up to five games right now. They added two extremely impressive wins IMO, winning over Southwestern a 12th region contender by 19, then knocking off Eastern by 12. They also won their first game in the 2A Sectional by 20 over McCreary. Freshman Braxton Ferguson had 28 in the win over McCreary. This week they have Whitley at home on Tuesday for the next round of the 2A, and then Knox Central on Saturday in the Grace Health Raymond Reed Classic. 2. North Laurel (9-4) - The Jags went 2-1 on the week. They had a nice win over Bryan Station by 3, and a big time district win over Clay County by 15. They dropped one though to Daviess by 21. The Clay win was a huge one at home. Reece Davidson had 23, Corey Cunagin added 20, and Kaiden Allen had 12. They’re now in the driver's seat in the 49th. This week they travel to Corbin on Tuesday, then have Pulaski County at home on Friday. Two huge games. 3. Clay County (8-5) - The Tigers went backwards this week going 1-2. They lost to Dixie Heights by 1, beat Estill by 37, and then lost to North Laurel by 15. The North game was a tough one. They hung in there all the way till the third, then North put together a few runs that they didn’t match. Grubb, Wagers, and Rogers all went for 16+ in the loss. As a team they missed 7 free throws. There’s plenty to sure up on before they meet again at home. Clay has a game with OBI on the road tonight, and then a game at South Laurel on Friday. 4. Whitley County (11-3) - The Colonels went 3-1 on the week. They won two games out of state, and lost one game out of state. I can’t really speak about those games. I can say though, they played Harlan Co in the first round of the 2A. They had a big time 7 point win over them, and the game was at Bell County. Riley Fuson went off for 38 and 10 in the win. Huge numbers for just a sophomore. This week they have a chance to show how they stand in the region with a game at Bell County on Tuesday. They finish the week up with a game against Madison Southern at South Laurel. 5. Harlan County (7-5) - The Black Bears went 1-1 this week. Maybe I should’ve kept them where they were, but I’m going to move them up one slot. They had a 8 point win over Barbourville, but then had a 7 point loss to Whitley County. Reggie Cottrell did all he could against Whitley putting up 32 and 7 in the loss. This week, they play McCreary Central at Bell County in the 2A. I’m not sure why they’d play that game since they lost the first round, so we will see what their week looks like if KHSAA updates. 6. South Laurel (6-6) - The Cardinals went 0-3 this past week. Albeit they played three big time games with Eastern, Southwestern, and Trinity. However, all three ended the same way; a 12 point loss, 4 point loss in OT, and a 10 point loss. Kaden Taylor is leading the way so far this year with 13.9 per, and Kaiden McQueen is right behind him with 11.5. Things don’t get easier for South Laurel with Pulaski County, Clay County, and Russell County on the schedule this week. 7. Knox Central (7-3) - The Panthers went 2-0 on the week. They killed Williamsburg by 48, and then knocked off Hancock TN by 31. A whole lot of kids got reps, and a whole lot of kids got in the stats columns in both games. This week things will pick up to give us more of an idea at the middle of the pack, as KC plays Middlesboro, Perry County Central, and Bell County. 8. Corbin (5-6) - The Redhounds are still chasing .500, but got closer this week going 2-1. They beat Dawson Springs, then had a comeback win over WEB DuBois by 3 in their own tournament, the CFIT. They dropped their last game of the week though, a 7 point loss to Evangel Christian in Double OT. Eli P had 25 and 10 in the loss, and Evan Ellis added in 26. Those two lead the way and need a few others to step up. This week they play North Laurel at home on Tuesday. 9. Jackson County (9-4) - The Generals had a really nice week going 3-0. I’d like to move them a little higher but I can’t see them beating any of the teams ranked in front of them. They beat Dawson Springs by 26, Barbourville by 8, and Sayre by 3 in double OT. Wyatt Gray had a nice game with 24 in the win over Sayre. This week they play Trinity Christian tonight, Williamsburg at home on Thursday, and Harlan on Saturday in the first round of the All A. 10. Middlesboro (7-5) - The Yellow Jackets were completely off this week. This week they play Knox Central tonight, and then Red Bird on Saturday in the first round of the All A. 11. Pineville (6-5) - The Mountain Lions went 2-1 this week. They beat Trimble County and Jackson City, but lost to Nicholas County. This week they play OBI, and Lynn Camp. 12. OBI (3-6) - The Mountaineers were off last week. This week they play Clay County, Pineville, and Williamsburg on Saturday in the All A. 13. Harlan (4-8) - The Green Dragons went 1-2 on the week, with a 27 point win over an out of state team, and then two losses to out of state teams. This week they play Jackson County at OBI for the all A on Saturday. 14. Barbourville (2-7) - The Tigers went 0-3 on the week with losses to WEB DuBois, Jackson County, and Harlan County. This week they play Williamsburg on the road tonight. 15. Williamsburg (1-9) - The Yellow Jackets went 0-2 on the week with losses to Knox Central and Grainger TN. This week they play Barbourville, Berea, Jackson County, and OBI. 16.. Lynn Camp (5-9) - Lynn Camp went 1-1 on the week with a loss to Lee County and a win over Robertson County. This week they play Model, and Pineville. 17. Red Bird (3-5) - Red Bird was off this past week. They play Jackson City, and Middlesboro this week.

13th Region Boys Basketball Week 4: With week 4 wrapping up, we still have the big two at the top. Three through eight can probably all shuffle around as we go and will continue to shift as these teams play each other. Three plays two at home so you could see some shifts there this week, and four plays six so you could see some movement there as well. We will be able to tell more about the region favorites and the middle of the pack after this week! Rankings: 1. Bell County (6-2) - The Bobcats went 1-0 this week. They put a beatdown on Morristown East by 38, where they saw 11 different players score. Gavin Barton led them all with 15, and Buell also added in 15. This game wasn’t on the KHSAA schedule, but the 13th region media network reported on it, so if there’s any others we will hit those next week. This week it looks like all Bell Co has is McCreary Central at home in the 2A Section 7. 2. North Laurel (7-3) - The Jaguars had a big week knocking off the state’s 17th ranked team, Marshall County, in overtime. Reece Davidson and Cooper Elza both had 15 in the win. North plays Bryan Station tonight at 7:30. After that, they are off till Friday when they play Clay County in a huge district game at home. 3. Clay County (7-3) - The Tigers went 1-0 on the week. It was an 18 point win over Bourbon County. They’ll also play Dixie Heights tonight in the Railroad Classic. Adon Grubb led the way over Bourbon with 20, and Isaiah Bundy added in 12. They’re off till Friday, when they go on the road to North Laurel for a big time 49th district game. This will show if Clay is ready to take the next step as a region contender, or if the region is a two horse race. 4. Whitley County (8-2) - The Colonels had a light week, but won their lone game by 30 over Harrison County. Riley Fuson had 20, Bryson Mahan had 15, and Henry Bowling added in 13 in the big win. This week they go to FL and play in the KSA Holiday Tournament in Orlando. Their opening game is Monday against Republic TN. They finish the week up in KY with a big time game against Harlan County in the 2A Section 7. 5. South Laurel (4-3) - The Cardinals had a slow, but good week going 1-0. They beat Russell by 16 in the Legacy Nissan they hosted. They had four players see double digits, out of the 7 that scored. A very balanced attack. This week will be a slow one again, but a big one as they travel to Trinity and take on the shamrocks on Saturday. 6. Harlan County (6-4) - The Black Bears had a great week going 4-0. They beat Rye Cove VA by 18, beat Thomas Nelson by 11, Campbellsville by 6, and then knocked off previously undefeated Beechwood by 1 to win the 2025 Taylor County Farm Bureau Holiday Classic. What a week! This week they play Barbourville on Friday, then Whitley Co on Saturday in the 2A Section 7. They can shoot up the rankings again with a win in that one. 7. Knox Central (6-2) - The Panthers had a great week going 3-0. Tony Patterson has picked up where he left off last time he was head coach for the Panthers. The first was a 3 point win over Owen County, a 44 point win over Fleming Co, then a 48 point win over Williamsburg. I’d like to see KC play some better competition before I move them on up, but they are winning games they should in dominating fashion. This week they play Hancock Co TN and that’s it. 8. Corbin (3-5) - The Redhounds still seem like they’re in a rut as they went 1-1 on the week. They lost to Rockcastle by 3, then had an 11 point win they had to gut out over Jackson County in the CFIT. Eli P had 22 and 12 in the loss to Rock, and he had a big game again against Jackson Co. He seems like Mr. Consistent for the Redhounds. Corbin plays Dawson Springs Monday, and Evangel Christian on Saturday. 9. Jackson County (6-4)- The Generals went 1-1 on the week. They started it off with a 43 point win over Fulton City, but then dropped their opening round game of the CFIT to Corbin by 11. They battled all game but weren't able to finish on top. Today they play Dawson Springs, then they’ll play Sayre at home on Saturday. 10. Middlesboro (7-5) - The Yellow Jackets had another .500 week going 10-1 on the week. They beat Harrison County by 19, before losing to Green Valley Christian NV by 3. It’ll be a short week as they only play Frankfort Christian this week. 11. Pineville (4-4) - The Mountain Lions were off last week. This week they play Trimble County, Nicholas County, and Jackson City. 12. OBI (3-6) - The Mountaineers went 0-1 on the week losing to Rowan County by 14. They are off this week. 13. Harlan (3-6) - The Green Dragons went 1-1 on the week with a 4 point win over PLD and a 7 point loss to East Jessamine. The schedule currently shows them off till January 10th. 14. Barbourville (2-4) - The Tigers went 1-0 on the week with a 10 point win over Jellico TN. This week they play WEB DuBois, and Harlan County. 15. Williamsburg (1-7) - The Yellow Jackets went 1-1 on the week with a win over Lynn Camp, and a loss to Knox Central. This week they are off. 16.. Lynn Camp (4-8) - Lynn Camp went 1-2 on the week with losses to Williamsburg and Buckhorn, but a win over Cordia. This week they play Lee County, and Robertson County. 17. Red Bird (3-5) - Red Bird is rolling! They went 2-1 this week knocking off Ligon Cogo and David School, but losing to Jenkins. I love to see it. They’re off this week.

15th Region Boys Basketball Week 4: Fourth week in the 15th in the books, let's look at it! 1. Pikeville (7-0) - The Panthers have cemented themselves to me as the favorite in the 15th now. They had a huge week knocking off Ashland at home in the finals of the PIT. Jackson Keene had 27 and 10,, and Carter Parsons had 21 in the big win. Pikeville has yet to lose and are showing they will be a force come tournament time. Pikeville has one game this week, a Saturday show down with East Ridge in the opening of the 15th Region All A. 2. Lawrence County (6-4) - The bulldogs went 1-1 on the week. They knocked off Moore by 29 to finish out the 2025 Mac’s Holiday Classic, but lost the first round of the Ashland Invitiational Tournament by 9 to Simon Kenton. They are playing Hopkinsville today in the AIT, but I’m not sure if that game is over by now or not. After that game, KHSAA is showing them off next week. 3. Martin County (6-5) - Brutal week for the Cardinals as they go 0-3. They lost to South Oldham by 9, Hamilton Heights TN by 14, and Charlotte FL by 8 in OT. Keathley had 31 and Dials had 26 in the loss to FL, but no one else ever really got going. Right now it seems like Martin Co is a two horse show, and that may need to change if they’re going to make it far in the regional. They are off this coming week, and will play in the All A the following Monday. 4. Johnson Central (5-2) - The Golden Eagles were off this week. This coming week they will play Shroder OH at Belfry on Monday, and then Rockcastle Saturday at GRC. The Golden Eagles are led on the year by Austin Slone (20.9), Brayden Shepherd (19.4), and Cooper Blair (11.9). 5. Floyd Central (8-2) - I’m going to move Floyd Central up a few notches this week. I think they’ve earned it. The Jaguars went 3-0 on the week to push their record to a staggering 8-2. They knocked off Lewis County by 3, Lee VA by 34, and Central-Wise VA by 9. Chris Spriggs had 19, and freshman Lucas Howard added 16 in the win over CW VA. Floyd Central only has one game this week as they take on Eastside VA at UVA Wise tomorrow. 6. Paintsville (5-5) - The Tigers are back at .500 after going 1-2 on the week. Their first loss was a 3 point set back to Cooper. They bounced back with a 7 point win over Ryle. But finished the week off with a 19 point loss to Lexington Catholic. They are set to play Marshall County at some point today. The Tigers will also play Prestonsburg Friday, in the first round of the 15th Region All-A Tournament. 7. Belfry (5-2) - The Pirates were off this past week. So far on the year they are being led by Brody Little (19.9), Carter Jude (15.4), and Bo Williams and Peyton Owens who are both at 9.4 per. Belfry has one game this week, and that is East Ridge tomorrow at home in the Mountain Schoolboy Classic. 8. Shelby Valley (6-4) - The Wildcats had a nice week going 1-0 with a win over Hazard in the Pikeville Invitational Tournament. Hazard is one of the favorites in the 14th, so this was a big win for Shelby Valley. I’d like to move them up more in the rankings, but none of the middle of the road teams lost. It will shake out more as we progress in the year. This week Shelby Valley plays Huntington Expression Prep WV, Hurley VA, and then Phelps in the first round of the All-A. 9. Pike County Central (6-2) - The Hawks went 1-0 on an easy week where they only played June Buchanan. They won this won by 44. This week they play Magoffin County at home on Tuesday, then Shelby Valley on Saturday in the opening of the All-A. 12. East Ridge (3-4) - The Warriors went 0-1 on the week losing to Phelps by 13. This week they play Belfry, then Pikeville in the first round of the All-A. 13. Magoffin County (2-8) - The Hornets were off this week. 15th Region Boys Basketball Week 3: Third week in the 15th in the books, let's look at it! 1. Pikeville (6-0) - The Panthers are rolling right now, still undefeated. I had them at the top spot by default at first, but now I’m wondering if they may truly be the top of the region right now. They blew the gates off Rowan Co by 51, and then beat Pendleton County by 13 in the PIT. Tonight they get a shot to send a message by knocking off Ashland in the finals of the PIT. 2. Martin County (6-2) - Martin County went 2-1 on the week with a setback to Logan WV by 8, but then a 28 point win over KCD and 28 point win also over Sayre. Braxton Keathley has been lights out like always. They look to keep it rolling this week with South Oldham tonight, then some out of state teams in Virginia in a tournament. 3. Lawrence County (5-3) - One win and two losses make for a long week for the Bulldogs. A 30 point win over Rowan Co was a great start, but a 5 point loss to Manual and a 12 point loss to McCracken wasn’t near as enjoyable. Lawrence looks to get their feet back under them as they play Moore tonight, and then Simon Kenton on Saturday. 4. Johnson Central (5-2) - The Golden Eagles are back rolling. They went 4-1 on the week with wins over Greenup, Magoffin, Lebanon, and DW Daniel SC. They only dropped one game and that was to Baylor School TN. This week they are off. Austin Slone is averaging 20.9 per game, while Brayden Shepherd puts up 19.4 as well. They’re a great 1-2 punch. 5. Paintsville (4-3) - The Tigers are back rolling. This time they went 3-0 on the week. They took down Shelby Valley by 7, Phelps by 13, and then Huntington Prep by 19. A much needed streak early in the season. They look to keep it moving this week with games against Cooper, Ryle, and then Lexington Catholic. If they can win 2 of the three I’’d say it would have been a good week. 6. Belfry (5-2) - The Pirates had a huge week going 4-1. The biggest win of the week was over Floyd Central, a game they won by 3 at home. Brody Little went off for 37 points and 10 boards. This was a big time win for the Pirates. They’re off this week according to the KHSAA schedule. 7. Floyd Central (5-2) - The Jaguars went 1-1 on the week. They had a real head scratching loss to Belfry by 3. They for sure have to go down, but I’m not sure how far. Not a great loss by any means. They did bounce back with a 5 point win over East Carter. This week they will take on Lewis County and Lee VA. 8. Shelby Valley (5-4) - The Wildcats went 3-2 on the week finally getting up over .500. They lost to Paintsville at home, but did pick up a region win over Prestonsburg as few as some others over out of state teams. Tonight they have a big game against one of the 14th region favorites in Hazard and it’s their only game on the week. 9. Pike County Central (5-2) - The Hawks went 1-1 on the week again. PCC also had a real head scratcher losing to Betsy Lane by 3. They did beat Cordia by 60, but the Betsy Lane loss is a bad loss. All PCC has this week is June Buchanan at home on Monday. They currently have three people averaging double digits on the year in William Rowe, Colton Ratliff, and Owen Bowman. 10. Betsy Lane (2-4) - I’m trying to figure out the Bobcats. They have East Ridge at home tonight. 12. East Ridge (3-3) - The Warriors went 2-0 on the week with wins over Magoffin and Ridgeview. This week they play Phelps on the road. 13. Magoffin County (2-8) - The Hornets won their first two games of the year this week. They are completely off for the week. 14. Prestonsburg (0-8) - The Blackcats went 0-4 this week. 2025 was supposed to the year the Rebels came back down to earth. They blew it in 2024 with one of the most talented teams to come through in a while, and they were going to have to replace their top two leading rushers, 4 of their top leading WRs, multiple OL, their kicker, their top three leading tacklers and 3 of their four secondary pieces. After a hot start to the 2025 season, they dropped a game to Lexington Catholic on the road 17-7 which left a lot of people saying yep.. the empire is fallen. Fast forward 3 months on the money from that game, and the Rebels were holding up the 2025 4A State Title in a 34-0 shut out over the leading scoring team in 4A who were also undefeated. They were led by a sophomore QB in Jhet Raleigh who has still yet to lose as a starter, a 5 foot nothing RB who is now the single game rushing record holder for the Rebels after a 440 yard showing against Covington Catholic, and a stingy defense that loved making these physicals for 48 minutes. The kids will have a month to celebrate, and then it's right back to the weight room to grind for number 14. Let's look at who the Rebels have graduating and returning this year. ? 13th Region Boys Basketball Week 3: With week 3 in the books we will look and see how it all falls! A lot of teams are playing out of state teams, so we will do the best we can. North Laurel played in the prestigious KOB. Right now it’s shaking up to be a two team.. Possibly three.. Fight for it all. But in the end, we know it’s always anyone's game. As a whole, I’d say the 13th is down this year besides the two at the top. BIG SHOUTOUT TO RED BIRD ON THEIR FIRST WIN SINCE 2024. Rankings: 1. Bell County (5-2) - The Bobcats dropped two games this week. They went to TN for the Alpha Invitational. They lost to Dobyns, but followed it up with a win over Tullahoma TN. They’re most impressive game though was a 2 point loss in OT against Dorman SC. Dorman is the second best team in SC according to something I saw on Facebook. I think Bell gets the nod for the top team this week but I think of them and North Laurel as a 1A 1B. This week they’re set to play Grainger TN at home on Friday. 2. North Laurel (6-3) - Going to drop the Jaguars a spot even though their strength of schedule is a big part of why they’ve dropped three games. This week they went 1-2. They took down Lyon County in dominating fashion, more than doubling them up, winning 67-31. Then they dropped their next two, a 10 point game to Frederick Douglass and a 4 point game to Covington Catholic. This week they only have one game, and it’s against Marshal County in the White, Greer, and Maggard Holiday Classic. 3. Clay County (6-3) - The Tigers went 1-3 on the week. They beat Whitley County on the road by 6, before going 0-3 in their holiday tournament they played at. They lost by 10, 1, and 3. I’m not sure on any of the teams they played, but it looked like those last two games could’ve gone either way. They look to rebound quickly with Bourbon County on Saturday, as a big district showdown with North Laurel looms the following week. 4. Whitley County (7-2) - Even though they lost to Clay County to start the week, the Colonels bounced back in a big way going 3-0 to close it out. They knocked off two out of state teams, and then beat LCA by 9. I’m going to go ahead and jump the Colonels over South Laurel right now. Whitley is playing good basketball, and I think they have just as good of a chance as anyone to win the 50th district this year. This week they play Harrison County tonight and that’s it for now. 5. South Laurel (3-3) - The Cardinals had a better week going 2-1. They stayed in town and dropped their first game of the week at home to Wayne County by 7. They didn’t stay down for long though, as they knocked off Owen County by 21 and Fleming County by 29 in the Legacy Nissan Dribble Drive Challenge. The Cardinals finish that up tonight as they play Russel at home, then go to Bell County Friday to play Hancock County TN. 6. Corbin (2-4) - The Redhounds continue their rough start of the season. They did go .500 this week. They dropped a 26 point game to Madison Central and a 10 point game to Russell, but did pick up a 14 point win over Berea and a 31 point win over East Jessamine. If they’re relying on football kids, they should have their legs under them by now. This week they have Rockcastle tonight, and then Jackson County on Saturday. 7. Knox Central (3-2) - The Panthers finally jumped over .500 winning their only game on the week over Wolfe County by 19. According to their schedule they will play two games today, playing Owen County at 11:45AM and then Fleming County at 5:00 pm. They’ll then finish the week out against Clinton TN at Bell County in the Redmond Auto Group Holiday Classic. 8. Harlan County (2-4) - The Black Bears had a rough week this week going 1-3. They played at Rocky Top Sports World and went 1-2, and then lost a game prior to that against Central - Wise VA. None of the losses were competitive either. This week they look to climb back to .500 with games against Rye Cove VA and Thomas Nelson. Trenton Cole (16.3) and Reggie Cottrell (12.5) are leading the way on the year, but they need more to step up if they’re going to threaten to compete. 9. Jackson County (5-3)- The Generals have officially come back down to earth. They knocked off OBI by 12, but then dropped a head scratcher to Barbourville by 6 at home. Not a good loss at all. They also dropped one to Union City TN by 4. This week they play Fulton City, Corbin, and Dawson Springs on the road. 10. Middlesboro (6-4) - The Yellow Jackets went 2-2 on the week with wins over Harrison County and Pineville, but losses to Harlan and Letcher County Central. This week they play Green Valley Christian NV at Whitley Co. 11. Pineville (4-4) - The Mountain Lions evened it out at .500 on the season. They had a big win over OBI. This week they are completely off. 12. OBI (3-5) - The Mountaineers went 0-4 on the week. They lost to Jackson County, Pineville, Ashland, and Shelby Valley. This week they play Rowan County today. 13. Harlan (2-5) - The Green Dragons went 2-1 on the week with wins over Lynn Camp and Middlesboro, and a close loss to Rockcastle. This week they play PLD, and East Jessamine. Both games are today. 14. Barbourville (1-4) - The Tigers beat Jackson County on the road by 6, but followed it up with two losses to TN teams. I’m not sure where to put the Tigers right now. This week they play Jelico on Saturday. 15. Lynn Camp (3-6) - Lynn Camp won one game this week over Trinity Christian but lost to everyone else. This week they will play Williamsburg tonight, and then Buckhorn and Cordia this weekend. 16. Williamsburg (0-6) - The Yellow Jackets are still searching for their first win. They lost three more this week. They look to get their first tonight against Lynn Camp, then another Saturday against Eastern. 17. Red Bird (1-4) - let's GO RED BIRD! They had their first win since February 22nd 2024. They knocked off Cordia by 18. Kollyn Roark had 38 in the big win. This week they have Jenkins, Ligon Cogo Home School, and David School.
