13th Region Boys Basketball Week 6:

Here’s your week 6 rankings!

Rankings:

1. Bell County (12-2) - The Bobcats continue to roll. This week they went 2-0. They absolutely thrashed Whitley County by 36 to win their 2A Section 7. The game was never in doubt. Then they turned around and beat Knox Central by 31. The Bobcats are playing good ball and besides North Laurel, they’re one of the two favorites in the region by far. They open up the 2A against Adair County on Friday, which should be one of the top games in it. The winner of that game will likely make it far.  

2. North Laurel (11-4) - The Jags went 2-0 on the week, with a 14 point win over Corbin on the road and a 18 point win over Pulaski County at home. North has solidified themselves as the other favorite of the year. I’m eager to see their game at the end of the year against Bell County, but they have a good chance to possibly run the table coming up with their schedule. This week they play Red Bird, Jackson County, and Lincoln County, all at home. 

3. Clay County (10-5) - The Tigers got back to their ways this week going 2-0. Their frist was a very ugly win over OBI on the road by 8, but they rebounded well with a 5 point win at South Laurel to finish up the week. This week they play Perry County Central at home, Harlan on the road, and Woodford County at home in the prestigious Bobby Keith Classic. 

4. Whitley County (12-4) - The Colonels went 1-1 on the week. Their first game was disappointing as they were absolutely crushed by Bell County by 36. This game was over before it ever got going. They did rebound nicely with a 3 point win over Madison Southern. We will know more about the Colonel sas they play Williamsburg Tuesday, and then South Laurel at home on Friday. 

5. Harlan County (8-5) - The Black Bears went 1-0 this week. After a disappointing loss to Whitley County, they did have a nice win over McCreary Central on Tuesday. They’re a middle of the road 12th region team. This week they  have Breathitt County at home on Tuesday, and then Powell County at Clay on Saturday. 

6. South Laurel (8-7) - The Cardinals went 2-1 this past week. A really nice 1 point win over Pulaski County at home, was followed with a let down by 5 against Clay at home as well. They did rebound and finish up with a 19 point win over Russell Co at home on Saturday. This week they open up district play with a huge game against Corbin at home on Tuesday. They then go to Whitley County on Friday. These two games will be huge for seeding. 

7. Corbin (5-7) - The Redhounds are further away from .500 now after going 0-1 this week. The latest? A 14 point home loss to North Laurel. Things do not get easier with a game on the road at South Laurel to open up district on Tuesday. They also host Williamsburg Friday to end the week. 

8. Knox Central (8-5)  - The Panthers went 1-2 on the week. A 14 point win over Middlesboro to open the week, was then followed by disappointing losses to Perry County Central by 12 and a 31 point loss to Bell County. These are both bad losses, and the loss to Bell is bad because of the way they were beaten. This week they have a slow week with a game against Middlesboro Friday, and a game against Rockcastle on Saturday. 

9. Middlesboro (8-6) - The Yellow Jackets went 1-1 this week. They were crushed by Knox Central, then they killed Red Bird in the All A. Their next game in the All A is tonight against OBI. They finish the week with Knox Central, and then Jackson County. 

10. Jackson County (10-5) - The Generals had a decent week going 1-1 but their loss was bad because it was to Harlan. They were beat by 15 by the Green Dragons in the All A. They blew Trinity Christian out on the road. This week they have Williamsburg, North Laurel, and Middlesboro. 

11. OBI (5-7) - The Mountaineers went 2-1 with wins over Pineville and Williamsburg. They lost to Clay County. This week they play Middlesboro, Lynn Camp, and Red Bird.  

12. Harlan (5-8) - The Green Dragons went 1-0 beating Jackson County by 15 in the All A. This week they play Barbourville tonight in the next round of the All A. They also play Clay County, and Hazard to round out the week. 

13. Barbourville (4-7) - The Tigers went 2-0 on the week with a win over Williamsburg and Pineville. This week they play Harlan in the all A, and Pineville Friday. 

14. Pineville (7-7) - The Mountain Lions went 1-2 this week. They lost to OBI and Barbourville, but beat Lynn Camp. This week they play Barbourville again, and then Jackson City. 

15. Williamsburg (1-12) - The Yellow Jackets went 0-3 on the week losing to Barbourville, Berea, and OBI. This week they play Jackson County, Whitley County, Knoxville Ambassadors, and Corbin. 

16.. Lynn Camp (5-11) - Lynn Camp went 0-2 this week with losses to Model and Pineville. This week they play OBI and Frankfort Christian. 

17. Red Bird (4-6) - Red Bird went 1-1 this week with a win over Jackson City and a loss to Middlesboro. This week they play North Laurel and OBI.

I think I'm leaning Bobcats.  They seem to be a team focused on completing a mission.

Hold on here a minute.  In your NL column you state the can run the table.  Can they really beat Madison Central on Feb. 12th, I just don't see that happening.  However, I do like NL to win the 13th.

I misread as Mad Southern this morning. That is my fault, yes they would be an underdog there. 

Taylor, Mad Central, and Bell Co are their last three pretty competitive games and they all three come in a row. That will be a big stretch for the Jags.
