They don’t have to drop out as long as the KHSAA says they can play in the playoffs than that’s what they should do if they want.

No one is denying that the schedule is weak and it needs to be improved but unlike others on this forum I don’t think you can just throw your traditional rivals aside and schedule the BG SW Highlands and whoever else some may think are quality teams. I think you keep the traditional games hope the district shrinks and you try to schedule tough teams but not perennial state champs for the bowl game and the last game of the season. Hopefully the district shrinks at least one team and you can add another quality opponent. If Arnett can get you to the point that you are what you were in the 80s and 90s then you can add a perennial power later on.

This kind of mentality falls back to thinking if you are not one of the powerhouses you shouldn’t be allowed to play guess what other teams like football to and know they ain’t winning state but unless you want a playoff system with 15-20 teams then other schools deserve to play as well and can play whoever they want to play.

Yeah unless you can’t beat these teams and finish every season 5-6 do you think that helps a program. You guys are acting like this program has been a powerhouse the last 10 years how fast you forget the 3 years before last year they were very mediocre against this same kind of schedule. If Arnett gets them back to where they were in the old days then I’m all for scheduling harder but one good season against weak competition doesn’t have me believing yet. All you guys that think I don’t know anything haven’t watched every single game like I have since the 80s.

Look Glasgow is on an upward trend but the way you guys are talking you want them to play in Raffertys bowl and things like that and I don’t think they are there yet. I wouldn’t think they could compete with teams like BG and Highlands and teams like that. They may eventually get there under Arnett but why schedule games you can’t compete in just to satisfy some people. I think Glasgow has the athletes to compete with about anyone but remember someone has to block for those guys and they don’t have the line to compete with those teams right now. And let’s be realistic Glasgow can probably compete with anyone in 3A not named Cal, so do we think that getting smashed early in the season against bigger teams is going to make them compete with Cal probably not.

Look guys they are not going to drop Monroe Co. they have been playing Monroe/Tompkinsville since like 1946. It’s their oldest continuous rival plus unless he left after last season Coach Arnett’s brother is one of Monroe’s coaches. This six team district is what is hurting them and also with Hart now taking a step back none of the teams outside of Glasgow are very good. I think Larue is improving but will never be a top 5 team in 3A. So that leaves 5 district games and 3 very traditional games, so they have two games to play with one they have Franklin which is a tradition rich 4A school the other is the bowl game, they could bring in tough opponents for that game but remember Barren has to play these games to and I doubt they are interested in bringing in great teams. So all this being said unless their district shrinks by a team or two it’s going be very hard to schedule a bunch of high quality teams.

I can’t really see them dropping Allen and Monroe but at least Allen is 4A. The only one on this schedule that I think could possibly beat them is Franklin. And I agree I think Larue is trending upward and in a couple years may challenge Glasgow for district assuming they stay in the same district however I don’t see it being this year.

Bottom line is it’s not up to none of us what happens, so everyone on here telling how it should be ain’t going to change anything.

You read that wrong I have no affinity for Trinity whatsoever.

They played Allen and Franklin away last year I’m assuming those games will be at home this year counting the bowl game that should make 5 at home and 5 on the road.

I guess the point I was trying to make was the momentum of the program seems to be going up with the current kids they have plus with a strong freshman class coming in they seem like they are getting back to traditional Scottie football.

You take a team like CAL for example all we heard last year is how good they are probably the second best team in Kentucky and might even compete with Trinity. Prove it play in the same class with those guys.

I don’t see it as a punishment if you want to make the claim about how good you are than play teams that are equally talented.

They also have a strong freshman class coming in now while I know freshman are normally not impact players some freshman are very capable of getting varsity time.

It would be incredibly hard to turn this thing into something. They just had their best class since the 80s and they wasn’t good. With the Martin brothers graduating they are going to take a big step back next year regardless of the coach. They are a local team and I wish them the best just trying to be realistic.

I don’t trust MaxPreps they are way off on the stats for the Glasgow team for last year. But either way colleges of that caliber don’t offer you scholarships if you don’t have talent. He’s a welcome addition to the Scottie program and I’m sure they are thrilled to have him.

I think WE has far more talent then back then for whatever reason they had low end players then something changed in the early 2000s I don’t know exactly what but they started getting better players and have actually had some pretty good teams since then.

It’s. My understanding he’s already enrolled at Glasgow which is good because we will be there for offseason training and spring practice.

Do they play their first game in the bowl game against Glasgow next year I know when Glasgow/ Barren Co bowl game existed before they would bring two teams in and swap after the first year wasn’t sure if they were doing that next year or not. If so that might be a pretty tough game for a new coach to start their career.

Retiring to Kentucky from Florida you don’t see that a lot but it is a whole lot cheaper to build and live in general in Kentucky.

Anyone know what position he plays or how big he is or anything.

I’m sure it would be a large list but I wonder how many schools have never won a championship in the big 3 sports.

I believe Raceland is more like the Bills both losing 4 in a row but it appears that Catholic Raceland and Glasgow are the best to never win one and the bad part is your only stay on these hot streaks for a while you eventually miss your opportunity.
