#1 Owensboro Catholic Aces (13-1) vs. #2 Lexington Christian Academy Eagles (11-3)

Owensboro Catholic's Road to Lexington

  • Round 1: Owensboro Catholic 61 – Fort Campbell 7
  • Round 2: Owensboro Catholic 50 – Crittenden County 14
  • Round 3: Owensboro Catholic 27 – Somerset 19
  • Semifinals: Owensboro Catholic 41 – Beechwood 40

The Aces have been lights-out most of the year with their only loss early in the season. Explosive offense all year and just survived an absolute shootout with the defending champs in the semis. That 41-40 win over Beechwood was revenge for last year's state final and one of the wildest games of the playoffs.

Lexington Christian Academy's Road to Lexington
  • Round 1: Lexington Christian 35 – Metcalfe County 13
  • Round 2: Lexington Christian 51 – Monroe County 21
  • Round 3: Lexington Christian 35 – Mayfield 16
  • Semifinals: Lexington Christian 34 – Belfry 29

LCA started 7-3 but have absolutely caught fire in the playoffs. The semifinal win over Belfry was a classic.

Quick Team Playoff Comparison
Owensboro Catholic
  • Avg. points scored: 45 in playoff games
  • Avg. points given up: 20 in playoff games
  • Over 4,000 yards passing on the year, big play capability, battle-tested after the Beechwood war

Lexington Christian
  • Avg. points scored: 39 in playoff games
  • Avg. points given up: 20 in playoff games
  • Balanced attack, big play capability, battle-tested haven played the toughest non-district schedule in 2A, and Mayfield and Belfry the last two weeks.

This has all the makings of a classic 2A final –  both rolling off huge semifinal wins, and both capable of putting up 40+.

Who you got? Score predictions?

Same to ohs. I saw a lot of fans at our game and players. Congrats to them all!!  My son is BF WITH the Hamptons, Johnson and Ashley. I like how they are all close!!

Good luck to the Aces!

Go get this last win!

You can do it!

Chances Carrico is back?

Give me OCath in a shootout. 42-35.

Give me LCA. Oakley is a wizard.

Will this be OCATH first state championship and LCA 2nd with a win?

In state finals:

LCA is 1-3

OCath is 0-6

Owensboro Catholic. 35-32.

I’m going with OC closely.

Outside of the 6A game, I believe this will be the best game of the weekend. Two elite offenses. Expect a shoutout. I’m going with Owensboro Catholic in a game as close as you can get. 43-42 OCath.

I have been wrong on both these teams the last couple weeks, so take this opinion for what it is worth. I didn't think Owensboro Catholic would score more than 30 against Beechwood's defense and they put up 41. I watched LCA's game against Lex Cath and wasn't overly impressed so I expected Mayfield to beat them. That said, after watching O Cath's offense against Beechwood, I expect them to win.
