LCA !!

I gotta say that you are on a roll. You have done well in 2-A especially. I know you picked Beechwood, but other Playoff predictions you have done pretty good.

Appreciate ya I love picking games definitely get a sense of who's good and who's not some of these games are tough I will say!! Beechwood played a heck of a game last week was so close to winning OCATH is tough too there so simple at what they do and still do really well!! This game is hard for me I will say but I like the Eagles!!

I picked LCA when I first got on the string because of their strength of scedule.  BUT witnessing the OCA team vs. Beechwood my heart tells me OCA.  If OCA plays with the same heart and offensive execution as they did last Friday I don’t see LCA beating them.  Yes, If OCA O-line gives their QB1 time to pass such as they did last Friday it will be game on.  Especially when the fields wide open for OCA’s running game then they have the “EDGE”.  I just hope OCA’s Coach doesn’t pull off the gas for clock control and just let his QB run the show.

No discredit to LCA, they are a great team and hope they do well, but this game will be ALL up front in the trenches and whichever O-Line executes, wins.

Will this be the type of game with first one to 40 wins?  I’m eager to find out.

I believe this is the closest power ranking of any two teams playing in a championship game.

I have only seen LCA play.  Was impressed with their team strength so I think they will have an edge in that department.  They ran the ball well, but I wasn't overly impressed with their pass game.

Their defense was solid.  From what I remember, they played single high safety against Mayfield for most of the game, and that worked well because the Cards couldn't win the one on one matchups on the edge.  I don't see them being able to do that against OC passing attack.

Too hard to pick a score or winner.  LCA might have a big chip on their shoulder because most people are picking OC.  I'm rooting for the green team.

On paper, this looks to be the best game of the weekend.  Both teams have flashed very impressive performances in the post season.  Owensboro Catholic blew me away with their effort against Beechwood a week ago.  LCA did the same in round 3 against Mayfield and doubled down on that with a hard fought win against Belfry.  This is a true championship matchup.  Can the Aces OL control the line of scrimmage like they did last week? Can their defense force LCA to string together 8-10 play scoring drives like they did to Beechwood last week?  If they can accomplish both of those tasks, I believe they get the job done.  Easier said than done.  LCA is so physical, it will be a great test.  Feels like this one is a total toss up but I will roll with Dre'Mail Carothers and Miles Edge to find a way to get the Aces their first state championship.

Owensboro Catholic 38 - LCA 35

Owensboro Catholic ♠️
Dremail Carothers (QB/Jr.) | 3,753 passing yards with 46 TDs and 6 ints.

Miles Edge (RB/LB/Sr.) | 1,221 rushing yards and 20 TDs | 438 receiving yards and 4 TDS | 101 tackles | 14.5 TFL | 5.5 sacks

Xavier Maddox (WR/Sr.) | 1,290 receiving yards and 14 TDs

Luke Thomas (WR/Sr.) | 841 receiving yards and 8 TDs

Cameron Woodward (WR/Sr.) | 789 receiving yards and 11 TDs

Jude Evans (LB/So.) | team high 113 tackles | 10 TFL | 1 int.

Nick Sims (LB/Sr.) | 87 tackles | 10 TFL | 3 ints.

Caden Conkwright (DL/Sr.) | 58 tackles | 10 TFL | 6 sacks

Jude Cecil (DB/Sr.) | 51 tackles | 5 ints.

Lexington Christian ?
Nash Whelan (QB/DB/So.) | 2,299 passing yards with 26 TDs and 6 ints. | 1,000 rushing yards and 14 TDs | 40 tackles | 1 int.

Daven Hood (RB/DB/Jr.) | 479 rushing yards and 12 TDs | 38 tackles

Bennett Gudalis (RB/Jr.) | 408 rushing yards and 9 TDs

Tyler King (WR/DB/Sr.) | 958 receiving yards and 12 TDs | 2 ints.

Sam Pearson (WR/DB/Jr.) | 390 receiving yards and 6 TDs | 3 ints.

Aiden Lyons (LB/Jr.) | team high 78 tackles | 2 fumbles forced and 2 recovered | 1 int.

Bode Darland (LB/So.) | 51 tackles | 14 TFL | 3 sacks | 2 scoop and scores

Logan Mays (DL/Sr.) | 47 tackles | 10.5 TFL | 5.5 sacks

While compiling the numbers above, I noticed the discrepancy in two-way players. Edge is the only significant two-way starter for OCath among the offensive skill positions/quarterback. Carothers and his other top targets go one way. LCA has several pulling double duty, including Whelan, who serves as the catalyst for everything they do offensively.

If this turns into the track meet most expect, look for the Aces to be a little fresher.

I'm taking OCath to finally claim that elusive state title.
