I to am hearing eligibility is an issue, heard this is the kids 4th or 5th school. And that grades aren’t the greatest either!

100% they missed out on a huge talent. Dad played at OSU, I know OSU already thinks highly of him as he camped there as well. And any site you can find that ranks them that young has him in the top 5 quarterback rankings for the nation. Took the middle schools colonels and won the GCL last year. Don’t think he is overhyped at all, and would have been awesome to have this type of talent play in NKY regardless of school.

I think it’s more of the understanding you are getting national eyes on your kids. College Scouts, NBA scouts, Overseas scouts. Your kid is going up against the best of the best everyday in practice. Many times these kids are the best player at their school, don’t go as hard daily. Or don’t get pushed as hard daily because they are so superior. For me personally If my son ever gets there and as a family we get that choice it’s a no brainer. You are simply pushing them to the highest possible level they can go. You’re getting them ready for what it will be like at a major school or in the league. Diets, Daily Planning, training, coaching; there is a lot into play of it all. More than just putting up stats or numbers, I’ve seen kids go and put up worst numbers. But it’s still way more beneficial than dominating KHSAA ball. It’s more so of the thinking of I have to continue to elevate and get better rather than he’s gonna be good no matter where he plays.

Yeah he will be a great 3rd guard to bring in and control the pace of the game. Highly efficient player that doesn’t make mistake and can knock down shots. It’s crazy cause they have the Gaiser boy too, which I almost feel bad for because he has all these guards in front of him and they are around the same age.

In other words there isn’t anything to worry about with that one.

I agree 100%, the depth pieces are what I’m not super familiar with because not a whole lot of bodies played last year in crucial games. I know Noah Johnson has played in some big ones.

Would be interested to hear why with such conviction? If the kid continues at this trajectory he will become bigger than 9th region and KHSAA ball talent wise. Why not push your son/player and get them to the highest place possible. Look at Jasper Johnson and his situation!

That’s exactly what I’m hearing. Try to go for a back to back regional championship, then they lose quite a bit. Once they all leave I suspect and am hearing he will take the challenge and go prep. His stepdad has a crap ton of connections, their AAU team is one of the top in the nation. He will have plenty of suitors and it really comes down to how much they want to push the kid. If he really has NBA dreams and you think it can happen you go the prep route!

I think his skill level and talent for putting the ball in the hoop is up there with the best we’ve seen at CCH lately. He’ll be the most talented scorer while cash runs the show, Miller mans down low. Johnson, Bradshaw and some others on the wing. This will be a very talented and orchestrated team when it’s all said and done. With GREAT shot making! Newport prolly will have region this year, but with the Kinney rumors the Colonels will be back on top next year with how young they are.

According to his IG and Twitter 4 days ago, he was playing summer ball for the Colonels. Even captioned it with it’s gonna be a fun year, and I noticed he wasn’t able to make the Newport game. So that’s something else you can take from that scrimmage, Athens will average 15-20 this year. I’ll argue he will be their most talented scorer, while cash runs the show.

Huge loss if he isn’t, I didn’t see him in any videos. Him with Harney you could argue would best backcourt for next 3 years. Would be close this year with Newport having Kinney, Jackson and Covington. But Newport will lose all 3 after this year from everything I’m hearing.

I’ve heard the same thing, I would say with their talent and how they play it caters to them more forsure. But Newport will undoubtedly be the favorite and most talented going into the season, it’s on CCH and Cooper to knock them off.

What’s the reason you’d want your kids to go though? Like what’s really grabbing people? I think all most parents want is the best opportunity for their kids.

Not super familiar with the 10th, I know GRC loses a ton. But I will give other players their nod he’s yet to step on a high school court, I should have went more along the lines of best talent/ high end player in the future.

Tyce Simpson who was gonna go to Frederick Douglass and is now a 6’5 freshman with 2 D1 offers, has now transferred into Montgomery County. Will be the best player in the region off rip, older brother was just a huge part in Douglass’ run this year. And older sister was Lafayette leading scorer who is also coming to Montgomery County! Kid is athletic and skilled, can shoot it and play above the rim. Will be fun to watch !

But I’ve been to most fields in the area, it’ll be the best looking field hands down.

Drive by the field daily, and I was initially on board with everyone and didn’t know how I felt about it. As it is a major change, but like mentioned above that thing really pops in person. Pictures don’t even do it justice, the red against that scenery of green and just location really does fit it perfect. Only thing I’d be worried about is changing a few things up on stands and concession so there isn’t so much red.

I personally don’t think the issue was age at all. It’s how the whole process played out, I’ve had family inside the school for 40 plus years. They didn’t even have to open this up to the public or show this drawn out process. They knew they were hiring their friend. Who knows he may have been the most qualified, he may not but he was getting it regardless. His wife is maybe 2nd or 3rd down from the superintendent, have been close for SEVERAL years. This was always the play, now for the kids sake you hope things go well. The opportunity is there for the taking no doubt. And everybody that talks about his experience, he only coaches what 4-5 years at the varsity level? And 4 of those were very unsuccessful years at Bellevue. They made the easiest choice and it’s TBD if it was the best choice.

It is officially Woody McMillen. Congrats on landing the job, I’ve been hard on the school about this hire. I can only hope he proves me wrong!

I’d be shocked if it wasn’t Woody, I hope the district understands really what they are doing here. Would be such a shame to squander a great opportunity to rise up the ranks, we really need somebody in there that can take care of the kids and the program. Somebody that makes kids feel intrigued and interested in football. Somebody that has football knowledge and not just our buddy who’s been around. At the end of the day I’ve been in the halls and around the school forever, becoming great at athletics just isn’t something that has even been an agenda. They will take the guy that they know will do it their way rather than the guy that is the best football coach.

Kid is an absolute stud, would be able to play at most of the larger schools. Has the body and physical maturity to go along with his athleticism, fun player to watch. Felt like he should have had more carries last year.

Actually been around the town/school forever, including Woody. And around the guys age so I’ve seen many interactions first hand throughout the years. I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s the route they go if numbers don’t fall off exactly like they did at Bellevue.

McMillen was at the helm when the Bellevue program really went to shambles. Participation dropped off considerably, and I would expect the same at Ludlow if he got the job. Most kids down there don’t respect the guy at all.
