Triple header last night. Any Frosh / JV results in this one?

Campbell looked to me to be down considerably, either sickness or whatever. They, by no means, played a great game. The Tigers can shoot themselves out of any game, top level opponent or any good team having an off night. If they don’t pick up the pace and run the break, work the ball inside on offense, and stop the dribble drive, the Tigers will have a short run in the tourney. JMO

IMO, HUGE difference between the talent on CCH's Frosh and JV teams. Not even close.

A great game to watch as a fan. Both teams are very skilled, athletic, disciplined, and are well coached. Beechwood, with no player over 6'1", did an great job of defending and rebounding against a (probably) 6'6" Boydston. With his frame, his future is bright in that program. Other CCH players who were impressive were (please excuse mis-spellings) McGillis - strong player and very capable spot up shooter from distance. "Man Man" - PG who is quick and distributes the ball very well, good assist to TO ratio. Lenhof - SG is lethal assassin from the 3 line. Don't let the skinny frail frame fool you, he can really stroke it and only needs limited space to get his shot off. Read - that kid's motor is strong, he looked like he could have played another 4 quarters, he's non-stop GO. It was fun watching some of the local kids grow over the years and play in that game. Both futures look bright.

Bench Points and 3 point points were the difference. Kudos to the Cru.

First Round - Never any doubt in this one. Ludlow was completely overmatched. Beechwood plays Dayton Wednesday at 6:00 at St. Henry.

Guru- not commenting about anything related to violations of rules or anything to do with KHSAA. Merely comparing Prep schools to what CCH has become. No difference. Do I think the rules need to be amended to mirror what many other states have done - heck yes. Public and Parochial divisions is the answer.

The difference between Prep schools and CCH is Preps play a National schedule and aren’t eligible for State tourneys. Preps typically have a National draw for students / talent (players) and CCH is typically a regional or Tri State draw. Sometimes, this topic is the elephant in the room to some folks. Say it like it is. Everyone knows it.

Is there a NKY JV Tournament this year? If so, is there a schedule, when / where?

Curious; what kind of size does OC have in their starting 5?

My first time seeing the Braves in action. I have to say, Epperson is a really nice player. His motor reminds me of Ben Johnson from Lex Cath (#33.). He is relentless. Not a very good perimeter player / shooter, but anything 15 and in, he’s trouble. Quick off the floor with a great vertical and power to go with it. Dawalt is very solid as well. Nice off the drive with an incredible spin move in the lane. I’d take both on my roster in a heart beat. Both seem like good kids as well. No jawing or extras with them. Just very solid enthusiastic play from both. Braves weren’t very good from distance. Never seemed to be a threat in the game, just solid competition. They’re one of the better second tier teams in the NkY region. JMO.

Beechwood JV and Frosh both get come from behind wins in OT. 3-0 on the night. Will Rolf 25 in JV tilt.

IMO, Ryle has plenty of pieces to be a winning program. They have a very solid PG who is a Soph and good length between 6’3” and 6’5” with about 4-5 others. A barrel chested big helps in the middle and probably had 15-20 against Beechwood tonight. They lack leadership and just need time together. I was impressed with what I saw considering what I had heard and read about their current program. I will say, it was a pretty sad display of a student’s section for a school that size. Maybe 20 strong with another 6-8 players from their Frosh boys team.

I agree, #4 & #5 should be switched. Otherwise, pretty accurate IMO.

Defense was the best it’s been in the short season thus far. Tigers really got after it, especially in the second half. Draud 31 pts Downton. 17 pts Decker 14 pts

Ludlow is legit. Two stud players in the starting lineup and roll players who can also play a little. They will have a good season.

Tri -State Shootout at South Dearborn H.S., Indiana Scotty Draud unofficially 34 pts and game MVP. Will Downton unofficially 21 pts.

Bieger no longer playing according to players and fans in the stands. SK played well IMO, they were much more physical than anyone outside Knott Co Central was in the All A with Beechwood; and that game was a similar result. No excuses here, but, the loss of Bieger really hurt the Tigers last night. The 2-2-1 press and half court D was hard for Beechwood to handle. Resulted in several unnecessary turnovers and they just could not get into a half court set against the SK defense. I'm sure they'll regroup, but facing that D the week that your starting SR PG defects from the team is hard for the overall team chemistry. I talked to a score keeper at the game who told me Draud was 2-20 from the field. I'm guessing he was 8 or 9 of 22 to 24 from the line? He simply looked out of sorts last night. Too bad Rylee was on the bench for this game too. He and Hughes in the middle might have made a huge difference for the Tigers. SK is all guards with no size inside.

This game was a lot closer than the final score reflects. Bracken's best player, PG, went down in the 4th Q with leg cramps and the Tiger's pulled away. Up to that point is was a 4 point game back and forth.

Highlands scrimmaged at Beechwood Tuesday night, Frosh, JV, and V. Highlands Frosh rolled 70-36, Highlands JV looked better than Beechwood, and V was split. Beechwood won the first half by several and Highlands hit a buzzer beater lay up to go up by 2 in the final half. Neither team looked sharp, Highlands is guard heavy and Beechwood was sloppy with lots of turnovers. Two very well coached teams who I'm sure are looking to clean things up for next weeks tip off to the season.

No, he played up for Scott as an 8th grader last season. Went to Woodland tho.
