Oldham County vs Beechwood Predictions/Updates

Featured Replies

Oldham County hosts Beechwood as the 8th meets the 9th on Friday at 7:30 pm ET at Oldham County HS in Buckner, KY.

Beechwood started the year in the BGP Top 20, I believe, but fell out after a couple of early stumbles. But the Tigers seem to have righted the ship, and will be a tough nut to crack Friday.

Oldham struggled on the road on Tuesday, but outlasted North Bullitt, 81-76, in double overtime. The Colonels are shooting the ball very well, and have a bevy of shooters. And - with most of their players in the junior class - the future is really bright for OC.

Live video coverage begins at 7 pm ET on The Pegasus Sports Network - PSN.

I'll try to provide some updates here as I can during the evening.

Curious; what kind of size does OC have in their starting 5?

Starting five: Center 6'6" guards 6'4", 6'1", 6'1", 6'1" Long armed, lanky kids.

Backups: (Oldham typically goes 9-10 deep, so all these guys will see lots of minutes): 6'4", 6'2", 6'0", 5'10"

A 6'8" sophomore backup at center will almost certainly play some as well and perhaps a 6'4" junior.

Oldham is a junior-dominant class; four of the five starters will likely be juniors.

I like Oldham County in this one by 10 or so. Beechwood will struggle with OC's 2-2-1 press.

The 9-5 Tigers take on the 13-2 Oldham County Colonels on the road tonight. Should be a great game and a good indicator if Beechwood can rise to the occasion and beat a solid team on the road. My prediction is this.....If the Tigers play team ball and have 3 players in double digits (and they have plenty of talent to score offensively) they will win. They will need to have a balance of "in the paint" points from their bigs, Mitchell Riley and Brandon Hughes, and some outside help from Draud, and either Downton, Rolf or Decker. Improving their free throw percentage will help. The Tigers defense has been solid and it should be solid again tonight.
