It was a nice win for Beechwood. Grant didn't shoot their normal percentage and that paired with the length Beechwood has is not a good combination for them. Seemed there were no adjustments either on the Grant side. Overall, good win for Beechwood. They continue to make a case in the 9th region.

My first time seeing the Braves in action. I have to say, Epperson is a really nice player. His motor reminds me of Ben Johnson from Lex Cath (#33.). He is relentless. Not a very good perimeter player / shooter, but anything 15 and in, he’s trouble. Quick off the floor with a great vertical and power to go with it. Dawalt is very solid as well. Nice off the drive with an incredible spin move in the lane. I’d take both on my roster in a heart beat. Both seem like good kids as well. No jawing or extras with them. Just very solid enthusiastic play from both. Braves weren’t very good from distance. Never seemed to be a threat in the game, just solid competition. They’re one of the better second tier teams in the NkY region. JMO.

Going to be a tough night for Grant whenever Guffey and Robinson are a combined 2 for 10 beyond the arc ....

I agree. They need to be hitting better for them to have a chance against teams like Beechwood.

Well I thought it was a nice team win for Beechwood. If Beechwood is to succeed in the 9th Region they must continue to get team wins, that means significant production from more than one player. Championship teams normally have 2-3 players hitting double digits. If Beechwood doesn't find the right formula, as they did last year, they will continue to underachieve.

Grant's post players were a little better than I thought. I think the Braves will go to the 8th Region Tournament.

Grant should be one of the two coming out of the 32nd. They have a tremendous set of players who can score. Their defense - right now the weaker part of their game - will be important if they wish to hold off Walton-Verona in the district; the Bearcats can also light up the scoreboard.

 

SK looks to be the class of the 32nd, but I think Grant can give them a run, too. We'll learn more when those two meet on January 24th...

 

Beechwood has been led in scoring by Scotty Draud in 14 of their 15 games. Only in their second game - against SK - was he not the leading scorer. (Draud scored 15 in that game, one less than the leading scorer).
