  1. I've noticed more and more as the season has gone on. Teams are exposing that fact that Sheppard over helps and sags in the paint looking for steals and kicking out to his man for open threes.
  2. Our best offense is Reeves and Frederick throwing up bricks and Oscar getting the rebound. It's better than watching the guards pound the air out of the ball 25 feet from the basket.
  3. I've been considering listening to all games with Spanish broadcast. The announcers are into the game way more than the network guys. Even though I don't speak Spanish, what they're saying makes as much sense to me as what some of these other dudes spout off about.
  4. I agree about the no calls, but I don't think they favored one team or the other. Certainly didn't sway the outcome of the game. One thing I've said for years about officiating is just be consistent, allow the same style of play at both ends of the floor and for the entire game. I think they did that last night.
  5. Scott was awarded one point for the rear naked choke hold but in basketball Brossart just shot the 1 and 1. I don't necessarily think it was a hard foul, it looked worse than it was, especially looking at the two pics posted. You see fouls like this often where the a big man reaches over a smaller guy trying to create a jump ball and gets in an awkward position. The refs made the right call on this with just a common foul on Scott. It was a typical, physical tournament game with end of season/careers on the line and they didn't make a possible game changing call on an emotional play that fron start to finish lasted 3 or 4 seconds. And this response is from a Scott parent for those wondering.
  6. Both teams set basketball back 60 years offensively in the 1st half.
  7. 6 players out of the 8 or 9 in the rotation just started practicing after Thanksgiving due to football making the 3rd round of the playoffs. Tough schedule early while getting in basketball shape can make for a rough start.
  8. Boyle is a very good, well coached team. Line of scrimmage is where the game was won. The RB had huge holes to run through and was 7 yards downfield before he was touched or had to make a cut. Scott's skill positions matched up fairly well just not enough up front to complete. But it was a positive step forward for the program. That's all you can ask for is to improve from the last time you were in this position. Congrats Scott seniors on great careers and good luck Rebels the rest of the way.
  9. Add in seniors Gus Howlett and Riley Huff, who both played really well off the bench last year. Huff was logging alot of minutes before an injury sidelined him for the postseason. Scott only graduated one player out of their regular rotation, but that one player was 10th region POY Grant Proffit. It will be interesting to see who steps up to fill Proffitt's productivity. Makes it fun to watch as everybody will now have to play a different role than previous years.
  10. As far as this game goes, Scott knows what they are up against and what the probable outcome is going to be. Boyle is at another level. Scott's football program has gone from 2- 3 wins a year to now multiple playoff wins a year. As said in another post, the next step in building up a program is to compete against the Boyle Co's of the world. Whether it's a whole game, a half or a quarter, you need something to build on. Scott won't be the only team Boyle put a running clock on this year.
  11. Completely agree with this 100%. Scott, Campbell Co and Brossart have all experienced athletic success in the 10th region that they might not of had if they were still in the 9th region. The rest of the state might not have been able to see the Jake Ohmers and Reid Jollys put on great performances at Rupp Arena.
  12. Scott has never been a football powerhouse and most probably never will be. This is the third time they have made it to the 3rd round of the playoffs in school history (2015,2019,2021). This years senior class were starters and major contributors 2 years ago, so I think calling their 4 year careers a tailspin is inaccurate and a disservice to what they have accomplished at Scott. I know these boys have enjoyed having to "endure " their 4 years together at Scott.
  13. As for Scott, lots of improvement is needed. Having the right players on the field to help your team succeed is crucial at a school like Scott. Defensively they looked much improved, offensively looks like a step backwards but it's early in the season. Pieces are in place on the offensive side, you just hope they are utilized properly.
  14. Congrats to Boone Co on the win. Lots of energy and excitement on the sidelines. They may never get back to the Rebels of old but they are certainly heading in the right direction under Warner. It's good to see the improvement each year.
  15. Scott's dropping passes and coaching is what is hurting them. You have to put the players that make plays in the game. All the pre-season publicity for having 6'5" receivers that can't catch the ball.
  16. Scott Jackson Hardin - Thomas More Quincy Perrin - Kentucky Wesleyan Nigel Robinson - Union
  17. Augusta had a nice team. They had some good shooters but they were small at the guard positions. The info I got from an Augusta parent was that some of them were in 7th or 8th grade. They did a nice job creating open shots for themselves.
  18. No they did not play. The freshman team was asked if they wanted them to play, they voted no and played without them. They also had another one of their top players out with a broken ankle.
